Is anyone up for a photo thread? Mumsnet is pretty international and there should be some good entries. I'll kick off with some from my ride today through the Irish countryside.

Yay! Another new cyclist. Enjoy the bike it's great fun. You can go so much further than just walking. Lovely photos.

I had to look Kinver up Caulkhead, it looks like a nice part of the country.

What made you learn to ride a bike - fantastic to do that as an adult. If I knew how to get emojis from my keyboard I would do some, sadly I don't Grin.

CaulkheadNorth · 04/05/2017 22:10

Kinver is a good hour from me, but I'd never never to the rock houses so it was a good day out with a friend.

All my friends cycle a lot and I was always a bit embarrassed that I couldn't do it. In the end I did a council "learn to ride" course and that taught me the basics. A friend bought me a cheap bike for Christmas and ran around manically for a few weeks holding the seat and then suddenly I "got" it. Now I love it.

BarchesterFlowers · 04/05/2017 22:48

That is lovely Caulkhead Smile.

FlaviaAlbia · 07/05/2017 16:06

I was out today and the weather was glorious. The sea was so blue it was like somewhere exotic instead of the north coast of Northern Ireland Grin

That's so beautiful. I miss the sea.

Wow, that's some 99! Shock

TheLongRider · 13/05/2017 20:34

They make them big down here! Castledermot in the back end of Kildare. It certainly replaced some lost calories.

😳😳 huge!

I will not have ridden for two weeks when I get back on my bike on Thursday (busiest period of the year at work). DD is on a school residential and I am taking two days off to ride on NCN1 with DH.

We have found a pub 👍🏻 to camp at on the Cinder Trail. Somewhere in between Whitby and Scarborough so we just need to decide how far to ride/where to park.

I will post some photos!

Mumski45 · 18/05/2017 21:56

Heres one of todays ride to Settle in North Yorkshire. Lovely Lunch at a Cafe called Ye Old Naked Man and the weather was perfect.

I love cycling on days like today.

Lovely MumSki.

We went to the lakes yesterday and the weather was (and still is fab). We just took the steamer back to Pooley Bridge which was fun.

Apple stop, where we pitched our tent and waiting for the boat.

BarchesterFlowers · 19/05/2017 11:27

I am sat here drinking tea while DH has gone shopping for something so not home yet! Need to get back for school pickup.

Mumski45 · 19/05/2017 17:05

Looks fab Barchester. I remember going to a great cafe in Pooley Bridge that did a fab homemade tomato soup. Never tasted anything like it. Are you camping? Your bikes look like you are on tour 😀

BarchesterFlowers · 19/05/2017 17:50

We went somewhere nice there for a late breakfast Mumski. Lovely. Yes camping, two panniers each, DH had the tent on his bike.

Amazing, without DD we even took a change of clothes and went to the pub last night not looking like cyclists.

Only a one night, two day ride though 😂, DD was away with school and I am busy at work so could only manage two days off.

FlaviaAlbia · 19/05/2017 19:55

Those are lovely photos, the scenery is beautiful!

BarchesterFlowers · 19/05/2017 20:18

It is beautiful, we go there a lot. The campsite is good for launching a canoe. Nothing there but a rustic shower block a mile up a rough track from a farm, couple of miles from the road. Campsite in the middle of the photo from the boat. The other showing our excessive packing. Blush We don't take much more for a week.

So lovely to see all your cycling adventures. I've just started cycling after not touching my bike since my teenage years. I thought there was a cycling thread but I can't find it. I am not very brave and have not been far from home yet. Plus we live on a big hill so any ride always seems to end with a long, slow, gasping for breath, climb home.

BarchesterFlowers · 19/05/2017 21:03

All you need to do is take a photo Muriel 😀.

As you can see I am an admire the view stop at a bench type of tourist. That is why we camp, we go wherever the fancy takes us and stop as often as we like to. Usually for 🍰☕️.

Hmm am I allowed here as my bike is electric?

The first picture is in Hunstanton, the second the view from our campsite & the third is the weather (hail) that stopped us cycling

Hope that counts

Hope that counts

Course it counts, you're out there in the fresh air on a bike. That's all that matters.

BarchesterFlowers · 23/05/2017 19:28

Lovely KatyMac 👏🏻. V shiny new wheels!

Are you on your exciting adventure now? If you are how is it going?

Is the fish and chip shop behind you in that photo, the one with the green sign (think that is Hunstanton). I could do a tour of fish and chip shops.

katymac · 23/05/2017 19:30

Yes on my tour - I have had fish & chips in Mablethorpe & in Sheringham.....steak has featured too!!

This is Rutland Water

BarchesterFlowers · 23/05/2017 19:45

Lovely, I used to go to Rutland water years ago, like 20, an old boyfriend's parents lived near there. Isn't Rutland the smallest county in England or something like that?

How are you getting on with your Camper van and living in such a small space?

Where to next?
