I really wish I'd kept a list of every one as it'd be really fascinating to chart my musical education !
First thing I saw was probably Elton John along with The Beach Boys, Chaka Khan,Beach Boys and others at Wembley Stadium - taken by my cousin probably back in 1975...
then,in no particular order ...
Loudon Wainwright 111 at Cambridge Folk Festival, Cheap Trick, The Tourists, The Clash (several times),Toots and the Maytals, Pablo Black, Magazine, Throbbing Gristle, The Slits,The Raincoats, Spizz Energi (or one of the variants), Bow Wow Wow, Crowded House, Jane Siberry, Pete Townshend, Aswad,The Rezillos, the Undertones, Laurie Anderson, Stereolab,Lemon Jelly.......and my mind has gone blank...some were truly fab experiences !

Grouchyoscar - we were trying to find the Clash that day they were busking in Leeds and kept missing them as they kept moving around . Leeds was bloody brilliant for gigs when I was a stoodent there in the mid 80s, but my first gig was at 14 and was The Teardrop Explodes. They opened a whole fantastic world of gigs for me, sigh. I think the band I saw the most was the Pogues because they seemed to be the support band at every gig I went to for about a year. And bloody good they were too. Happy days.....

djsparky · 12/05/2007 19:40

I have Siouxsie & the Banshees (twice), The Cramps, The Cult,The Quireboys,Lena Loveich, Monster of Rock 1984 (including Dave Lee Roth, Guns & Roses & Kiss) Iggy Pop, Ozzy Osbourne, Rush, Madonna (girlie show tour), Foo Fighters, Wolfsbane (countless times throughout the early 90's), Justin Timberlake (?!), T in the Park (2003 & 2005) in no particular order. I want to see Queens of the Stoneage as I saw them at T in the Park.

filthymindedvixen · 12/05/2007 19:43

I was quite petite in my teens and when I went to see gothy bands, I could never see a thing, what with stiletto boots and bog hair... My overriding memory of Siouxie gig (in leeds IIRC) was the vile smell coming from the back of the black leather jacket my little nose was pressed against!

Moonshine...Pogues How lucky you were. Shane Magowan will be viewed as a poet and Dublin pubs will put up signs about him ('Shane Magowan probably drank in a pub like this' type things) According to DH when he saw the Clash busking, they played 2 songs and someone threw a can of paint over them. Seems it was a member of Chumbawamba allegedly.

And you were around Leeds Uni when Andy Kershaw was the Ents manager, he brought loads of good stuff in. Leeds needs that sort of input again IMO (and more as I'm just a tad too young to have enjoyed that purple period) DH's bro is 10 years older than him and DH got taken to some fab stuff.

Having committed the sin of severe jealousy I will be sent to musical hell now. (where I will have to endure Renee and Renato, the birdy song and Black Lace for eternity)

Ho hum

katelyle · 13/05/2007 12:42

David Cassidy was my first, shortly followed by
Genesis and Jethro Tull. How old am I!!!!!!!!!

djsparky · 13/05/2007 20:46

Ha Ha filthymindedvixen - I used to stink of V05 extra hard to hold, in fact all my mates did. That stuff kept your hair vertical for days on end. I too am a little vertically challenged but high heels did add on a few vital inches.

mrsbabookaloo · 13/05/2007 21:30

MrsBadger: You went to see the Ozric tentacles??? No way: I saw them about 5 times. Not that they were really my favourite band but my boyfriend of the time and my brother were really into psychedelic music, so I also went to see Gong a couple of times, and my first gig, I think, was the 12 hour Hawkwind extravaganza at the Brixton Academy!

This really bears no relation to my current music taste. In fact, just to make me look especially eclectic, I saw Kenny Rogers a couple of years ago at the Hollywood Bowl...and he was really good!!

filthymindedvixen · 14/05/2007 10:40

you can remember seeing the Ozrics????
I had allegedly been in a venue when they were playing. But after the nice lady dressed as a fairy gave me some brownies, it all got a little vague.....

BakuJen · 14/05/2007 19:51

I had student housemates who tried to smoke an Ozrics LP cover 'cos it was made of hemp and they were desperate!
Too many gigs to ever name, although first one I ever had a ticket for was Sisters of Mercy but my Mum wouldn't let me go as it was a school night.....

sarz · 15/05/2007 13:33

My 1st and 2nd were Take That! I thought i would die with how much i loved them (and i was only 9 or 10!!!)

I have also seen:
Back Street Boys
5ive (5 times)
Peter Andre-he was awful
911
westlife, but when they were called westside
and i have been to about 3 smash hit tours

Not quite as rock and roll as other peoples lists, but i did grow up in the 90's!

And i saw take that again last year and have tickets to see them later this year!!
