I really wish I'd kept a list of every one as it'd be really fascinating to chart my musical education !
First thing I saw was probably Elton John along with The Beach Boys, Chaka Khan,Beach Boys and others at Wembley Stadium - taken by my cousin probably back in 1975...
then,in no particular order ...
Loudon Wainwright 111 at Cambridge Folk Festival, Cheap Trick, The Tourists, The Clash (several times),Toots and the Maytals, Pablo Black, Magazine, Throbbing Gristle, The Slits,The Raincoats, Spizz Energi (or one of the variants), Bow Wow Wow, Crowded House, Jane Siberry, Pete Townshend, Aswad,The Rezillos, the Undertones, Laurie Anderson, Stereolab,Lemon Jelly.......and my mind has gone blank...some were truly fab experiences !

Should've added....INXS were the first!

LazyLine · 06/05/2007 14:35

My first was seeing Blur in '95 (I was 15). Have seen some good and some very very bad since then. The Flaming Lips were probably the best I have ever seen, though Pulp at their best were really good. Godspeed You! Black Emperor were awesome. Super Furry Animals, The Divine Comedy, Belle and Sebastian, Do Make Say Think, Rachels, Trans Am, The Make-Up, Royal Trux, Low, Fugazi were all good.

Am too shamed to say the bad ones.

LazyLine · 06/05/2007 14:37

Am very excited as seeing Mogwai this month.

suzywong · 06/05/2007 14:41

first gig was Haircut 100
followed by...
fun boy 3
Yazoo
Paul Young
Marc Almond
80s are a bit of a blurr, probably for very good reason
oh - everyone at Live Aid 85
Queen at Knebworth 86

lets get more modern shall we?
Foo Fighters - a lot
Feeder
Stereophonics
Buckshot (the saxophone playing marsalis brother)
Me'shell Ndegeocello
Stevie Wonder
Al Green
Jimmy Cliff
Ricky Lee Jones
Terence Trent Darby
Oasis
Wolfmother - shite
Patti Smith
Annie Lennos
Paul Weller
Eurythmics
Cast
David Bowie a few times
Texas - narcolepsy
Prince a few times
Bjork
Catatonia
Pixies
The Smiths
Primal Scream
The Living End

That's all that springs to mind, loads of other bands promoting first albums that never got signed to do a second and lots of bands/artists doing spots on various tv programmes (used to go to see Jonathan Ross and The Word being recorded a lot - shows how old I am)

We have tickets for the legendary Burt Bacarch in July and I am Best Pleased.

DrDaddy · 08/05/2007 15:50

Too many to mention. Quo was my first gig.

Lazyline - a mate of mine went to see Mogwai a few years ago and he said they were so loud that 'people's ears were bleeding.'

jessem · 11/05/2007 09:48

Jason Donovan at a Stock Aitken and Waterman concert in the 80's I think Sonia was there and the London Boys at the Studio nightclub Newcastle. Didn't take much notice trying to catch the eye of a rather handsome boy!!!
Taste has improved as I've seen The Cure, Depeche Mode, Blur, Suede, Seal, Westlife but must confess went to see Hearsay thought they were great!!

jessem · 11/05/2007 09:58

I must be a trendy mummy as Im going to Manchester at the end of July to see Arctic Monkeys, Amy Whinehouse, Supergrass and The Coral. I think they will beat the S.A.W concert with Jason Donovan

doggiesayswoof · 11/05/2007 10:15

First gig: Hue and Cry in 1989, at Govan Town Hall - they were absolutely brrrrilliant

Stereo MCs
The Shamen
Fun Lovin' Criminals x 3
Paul Weller x loads
The Who
5ive (being ironic honest!!)
The Fall x loads
Jimi Tenor
Melt Banana (cool as)
Maher Shalal Hash Baz
Duran Duran (nostalgia - fabbo)
Kraftwerk
Paul Buchanan x 3
There are more, but too obscure to remember. Some festivals too.

Biggest thing I miss from child-free years - the freedom to go out to loads of gigs...

lazycat · 11/05/2007 10:44

Have seen so many gigs, but my favourite had to be the last Glastonbury, for the atmosphere alone! The Pixies reunion tour was fantastic too (audience singing along), and Radiohead were amazing.

Can't remember the first gig I went to - probably a band from school...

Went to Glastonbury and various other music festivals as a small child but can't really remember who was playing!
First proper concert was New Kids on The Block when I was 12! .
Also seen Gabrielle (DH is a fan, not really my cup of tea - although Damage supported her and they were good!)
Lionel Ritchie (earlier this year - spellbinding)
Bryan Adams (on Wednesday - he rocks!)
Bryan Adams was definitely the best and you will not be disappointed McDreamy! He sang for over 2 1/2 hours and is soooooo good!

Basically loads more who I can't remember or who lasted for a beautiful moment and went. I just had a well spent (mis spent) youth. Sorry I can't claim any deeply important bands (like DH who saw The Clash busking outside Leeds Uni at 13) but I've ended up with a box of ticket stubs, a huge record collection. many friends, many memories

grouchyoscar · 12/05/2007 16:09

TwirlyN · 12/05/2007 16:13

twelveyeargap · 12/05/2007 19:35

Hmm... First concert 1985 aged 7, with my mum: Chris de Burgh. and I had a t-shirt and everything.

Saw Michael Jackson aged 10 and 14. Umm, after that; Oasis twice, Robbie Williams twice, Stereophonics twice (once was in Brixton Academy and it was great). Er, Snow Patrol, Christy Moore, The Thrills, Madonna (who was RUBBISH and made us wait until the rain stopped to come out, the cow).

Took DD to one of the Robbie concerts when she was about 6 and I took her to see Destiny's Child a couple of years ago.
