I really wish I'd kept a list of every one as it'd be really fascinating to chart my musical education !
First thing I saw was probably Elton John along with The Beach Boys, Chaka Khan,Beach Boys and others at Wembley Stadium - taken by my cousin probably back in 1975...
then,in no particular order ...
Loudon Wainwright 111 at Cambridge Folk Festival, Cheap Trick, The Tourists, The Clash (several times),Toots and the Maytals, Pablo Black, Magazine, Throbbing Gristle, The Slits,The Raincoats, Spizz Energi (or one of the variants), Bow Wow Wow, Crowded House, Jane Siberry, Pete Townshend, Aswad,The Rezillos, the Undertones, Laurie Anderson, Stereolab,Lemon Jelly.......and my mind has gone blank...some were truly fab experiences !

Ooh The Brilliant Corners janeite, I'd forgotten all about them.
Remember seeing them in some sweaty dive in Leeds.

rantinghousewife · 05/05/2007 21:22

Yeah, kerrysmum, isn't that supposed to be released this month? Apparently, at one point Jude Law was up for the Ian Curtis role!! Can't believe they actually considered him!
Have read the book, have to say he was a bit of a shit to his wife.

PeachesMcLean · 05/05/2007 21:23

First gig was Siouxsie and the banshees, I think.

Have seen all sorts since then but particularly proud of the Smiths in their very early days at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester.

Now I'd like to see the White Stripes...

missgriss · 05/05/2007 21:54

They were brilliant. They sounded just like they do on their records, which is surprising considering it's just the two of them on the stage.

The Pogues were amazing, they way they sped up and slowed down to keep up or back with Shane McGowan was admirable! And he was the first act of the day. Something like noon and he could barely stand.

filthymindedvixen · 06/05/2007 10:52

I've seen the Brilliant Corners too Had a t-shirt once, highly coveted in the way that obscure 80s band t-shirts were

And I loved the Shop Assistants (still have a ropey old tape of them too somewhere...)''Well I may not live past 25 but, whooh, what a way to die...''

Oh and I saw Voice of the Beehive once too. They wer elovely.

filthymindedvixen · 06/05/2007 10:54

well if we're counting festivals...this list will run and run. I went to glastonbury every year from ages 15 (1985) to 23...I also did Croperdy for 6 years and now do Beautiful Days.. There's got to be a couple of hundred in that little lot.

I feel like those 2 in League of Gentleman in the video shop. ''Seen. seen seen seen. Seen''

teanogue · 06/05/2007 12:14

Pretenders, the first

The Pogues, the best

cece · 06/05/2007 14:00

Not a festival - think it was at The Fleadgh (sp)? in North London.
