I really wish I'd kept a list of every one as it'd be really fascinating to chart my musical education !
First thing I saw was probably Elton John along with The Beach Boys, Chaka Khan,Beach Boys and others at Wembley Stadium - taken by my cousin probably back in 1975...
then,in no particular order ...
Loudon Wainwright 111 at Cambridge Folk Festival, Cheap Trick, The Tourists, The Clash (several times),Toots and the Maytals, Pablo Black, Magazine, Throbbing Gristle, The Slits,The Raincoats, Spizz Energi (or one of the variants), Bow Wow Wow, Crowded House, Jane Siberry, Pete Townshend, Aswad,The Rezillos, the Undertones, Laurie Anderson, Stereolab,Lemon Jelly.......and my mind has gone blank...some were truly fab experiences !

Similar thing happened to uni friend at a Supergrass gig. She got bottled in the face and rushed to first aid. Their manager then gve her his mobile and said to phone for free tickets any time they were playing locally and she did loads of times . We saw Supergrass a lot during uni

PestoMonster · 05/05/2007 20:40

San Fran, I'm even more jealous now, I love the place!!

PestoMonster · 05/05/2007 20:41

Bobsmum, were you at uni in Brighton? I saw the lead singer in Asda once

rantinghousewife · 05/05/2007 20:42

Never got hospitilised at a gig but, Shane Mcgowan did collapse on top of me and a friend at a J&mary chain gig!! He smells as lovely as he looks.

southeastastra · 05/05/2007 20:45

first one was depeche mode in 1984 at hammersmith odeon (if you're counting cool ones otherwise it was bucks fizz in torquay)

too many to mention but i saw blue oyster cult in about 1996 and the singer had a t-shirt on with 'sick of it' on it.

last one depeche mode too, at wembley, it was cramped

bobsmum · 05/05/2007 20:46

Pesto - Glasgow Uni - I just mean we got to see them for free every time they toured.

If we'd been in the same town as Gaz my friend would have spontaneously combusted at the very thought - she lurved him (and James Dean Bradfield) .

bobsmum · 05/05/2007 20:47

Cerys from Catatonia elbowed me inthe ribs at a gig - think it was one of the NME tours. She was drinking Special Brew

Rosa5 · 05/05/2007 20:48

PestoMonster · 05/05/2007 20:48

I spotted him (Gary) by the salads!! I wouldn't spontaneously combust for anyone apart from dear old Angus... love him

rantinghousewife · 05/05/2007 20:49

Beauregard · 05/05/2007 20:50

bobsmum · 05/05/2007 20:50

You don't want to mess with her!! although I did hear she gave up the whole rock and roll lifestyle to have lots of babies - awwwww!

bobsmum · 05/05/2007 20:51

there are so many people on here who love RAWK

GreebosWhiskers · 05/05/2007 20:56

Aerosmith, Alice Cooper & the Pixies.

We did have weekend tickets for T in the Park 2004 but sold them on ebay when I discovered I was pg. We were gutted 'cos we'd been desperate to see the Pixies but then they played Meadowbank in autumn 2005 & they were fantastic.

Guns N Roses were playing Wembley the day I married husband #1 - wish I'd forgotten about the wedding & just gone to the gig instead

I wasn't paid to go to gigs but, still seen some dire bands. The very worst has to be 'The Perfect Disaster'!! Nuff said really.
Not particulary overawed by meeting people in bands, met quite a few. Some nice, some not so. Wouldn't ever want to meet anyone I'd consider a musical hero tho'. Just in case they were a right numpty!! All my dreams would be dashed.
Bobsmum, cerys from catatonia lives in texas now, doesn't she?

PestoMonster · 05/05/2007 21:07

Would've liked to have seen Joy Division but, as I was 9 when he died would have been a bit difficult.

Kerrysmum defoo has the best list!

My first was "The Brilliant Corners" in Nottingham in about 1988 and have seen loads of others since including Sonic Youth, The Fall (many times), The Mission (ditto), The Levellers (ditto) Carter USM (again, ditto) and The Wedding Present (probably the band I've seen the most). Also seen The Buzzcocks, Birdland, Ride, The Farm, loads of others. But the best has got to be Morrissey and my biggest regret has to be never getting to see The Smiths before they broke up.

pucca · 05/05/2007 21:16

1st gig was...wait for it! New Kids On The Block > but i was only about 8 at the time.

I have been to see....

Craig David
P Diddy (when i was 18)
Eminem (when i was about 20)

Exciting eh!
