Ok..... I smoke marijuana, never around my kids but when they are in bed. I've been invited to stay at families house before with my 2 children (4 and 5 now) and it's always been a bit of a military operation if I want to smoke on an evening. My family drink and I don't, so whilst they unwind with a few drinks I like to have a smoke. Do you think they would understand this considering I don't drink, one family member used to smoke weed, and they all know why I can't drink. Am I being out of order expecting my 30 something family members will understand.... or do I just keep hiding it with e tea string mints and bad Avon perfume??

Seriously look into vaping, better for your health and no smells.
Just excuse yourself for 15 mins and go out for one, no one will be any the wiser.

Weed hasn't killed anyone and sorry but before people Start in about mental illness the people that does effect already had something wrong with their minds! 2fur I judge because it is illegal. I do not think its fair to ask other people in this case family members to accept the OP doing an activity which is against the law.

Do you mix tobacco in your joints?

If the answers are 'no' and 'yes' I'd bet my bottom dollar hat you're addicted to nicotine, not weed.

In that case, get a vaping kit and use that while you're away.

You say that you only smoke weed when your kids are in bed but what would happen if one of the kids was ill in the night and you were stoned when they went to A & E??

Also as the police are using drug swipe tests now, you do know that even after smoking one joint in the evening you would probably test positive for cannabis for at least a day afterwards.

You keep and smoke illegal drugs on the property your kids live. If you asked to do this round my house you would be uninvited and I would report you.

Gosh I had no idea people still had such an anal attitude towards weed! The police don't even bother people smoking it for personal use, they're more interested in big scale growers. It'll be legalised soon anyway so you can all get stoned then!

Persian cat lady I could ask you the same question when you drink, or anyone else for that matter. Weed doesn't intoxicate me, or free my inhibitions. It relaxes me and helps me with anxiety issues. If any of my children needed to go to A&E it certainly wouldn't stop that.

I can manage without either, I'm not dependant on anything. I choose not to drink because I don't like how it makes me feel.

But you've been invited away and your response is to work out how you can keep smoking. That sounds like it's high up on your list of priorities.
And seriously. It's a bloody awful idea to smoke weed with existing MH issues. It really is. Seek help and develop better coping strategies.

fucks sake, of course its not ideal if people need to smoke weed every day, or have a glass of wine every day. Its hardly rare though, nor is it the crime of the century. Its just another way to relax. The fact that some people overdo it has got nothing to do with the majority of people that just want a few puffs of an evening to chill out or get to sleep

This drug is illegal. Police and social services would give a damn actually. Schools would see illegal drugs in the home as a safeguarding issue.
And no. I don't think being reliant on alcohol is good either.
There are other ways to relax. That's a rubbish excuse.

I, among many others, have absolutely no fucking need whatsoever so smoke a joint. I'm not sure why you think we do!
