Coming Clean by Liz Fraser

A couple of threads that I had posted on relating to the Memoir ‘Coming Clean’ by Liz Fraser have been deleted from the MN site, apparently due to non-compliance of the MN guidelines from the posters. MN are obviously well within their rights to delete threads if they demonstrably fail to comply with their guidelines, nevertheless I feel strongly that MN posters are given a platform to critique this book, and also any other public ventures by this author. It would be neither fair nor right that posters are completely silenced in this particular matter.

As such, and in line with Mumsnet not seeing “anything wrong with honest feedback” I would like to make the comment that Coming Clean as a Memoir falls short due to the shaky and not entirely truthful narrative. There are certain facts contained within this memoir that are easily disprovable (for example, relating to the marital status of both author and her partner when they started their ill-fated affair), which leaves a massive question mark over the rest of the book. Is it entirely reasonable to make money from something that is promoted as truthful when it is, in fact, not entirely true?

I think there are people whose lives have been negatively impacted by the book and its subject matter, and I hope that MN will agree that these people should have a voice, as should anybody who wants to comment on a published piece of work.

As long as posters align their comments with the MN guidelines, this is a topic that people may wish to keep discussing, and also keep in the public domain. And if MN wants to provide a set of rules particular to this thread – certainly if they are arbitrary and differ from the general guidelines - I am sure it would be very helpful.

Mumsnet, please help us to help each other by keeping in the public domain something that us silenced mums feel should be out there.

She wants to keep her follower numbers up for 'work'? That vid is sad and depressing. I don't think it's anything to do with work.

Umbrellaisback · 23/08/2023 10:57

Coming Clean is book of the month for Sarah Middleton coaching over on Insta. An interesting choice for someone whose profession is navigating separation in a good way. Or should I say IN a GOOD way. Because she’s another FAN of WRITING just like Liz

@Umbrellaisback it is interesting that Sarah Middleton Coaching, who has one insta post and a pending website, is focusing on reviewing books by others rather than promoting her own services. A cynic might think the met at the same “I fancy starting a business, but have no business plan” fantasy course 😂 It just so happens that Tattle has been chatting about the Amazon reviews. 🪄🦄🧚‍♀️

Tortiemiaw · 23/08/2023 13:04

Oh God yes, she's a bit of a BUZZ WORD SHOUTER too isn't she? SELF-CATION ffs

Burgundybrin · 24/08/2023 11:28

She also has very similar taste in books.

Shortbread49 · 24/08/2023 11:34

Those stilettos are horrible like something from 1983

Umbrellaisback · 24/08/2023 11:37

‘Kitten heels’
they sre not kitten heels. They are court shoes

LynetteScavo · 24/08/2023 12:31

A cheap pair of H&M heels are going to be bloody uncomfortable!

But she's listened to the TROLLS and ABUSERS who suggested scruffy converse aren't really the thing to wear to business meetings - there is only so far YOU should do YOU.

Oh, and did she mention she was once on Good Morning Britain? Because she was. She was FAMOUS and HAPPY, even if she was leaving devastation in her wake.

Raffington55 · 24/08/2023 13:41

Poor Liz. She's clearly the very, very opposite of SERENE and HAPPY (Liz caps) which she claims in the pic at the station. If you are SERENE, you don't bang on bitterly in every post about the alleged harm that has been done to you by someone who 'dared' to leave you. She just can't bear to not 'win'. She boasted that she had come FIRST in a fun run FFS, and we all had to see pics of that. If you are SERENE you don't rage on social media and call people a bunch of c*ts. You don't obsessively exercise either.

LynetteScavo · 24/08/2023 14:48

What I took from that post was that she was pretty damn ruffled after seeing Mike, and had put on a serene act in front of him. She may have been typing SERENE, but that's not what I was reading.

its uncanny how they stack them the same way too!

Do you think they meet when they hand over Scout? I imagine she just runs to/from a car.

LynetteScavo · 24/08/2023 15:52

@Waverleyst - no way - she wouldn't drive and she will have the NEED to talk about herself and how she is going to an important meeting in London with her new Salzburg contact.

Tortiemiaw · 24/08/2023 16:17

Has EVERYONE seen the BIKINI SHOT. I mean, the serene post about swimming?

Raffington55 · 24/08/2023 20:33

Lunch in the Soho restaurant - she has blocked out the man she is eating with (probably her son) with a band of text! Up to her tricks again! Whoever he is, dreadful shirt/top choice. She so wants Mike to see her out with men! Lost cause unfortunately.

Her heels must be cut to shreds 😩

She would also want to prance about in the Billie Jean skirt and 'kitten' heels. I expect Mike has to do the handovers as Liz has been abusive towards his girlfriend who likely doesn't go anywhere near her. I expect she milks every handover for all it's worth. Oh to be a fly on the wall 😁

TomatoSoupkitchen · 25/08/2023 02:37

This is mean, but to me, she’s one of those people who always looks like she and her clothes could do with a jolly good wash. It might just be because she always says how old her clothes are. The BJ King skirt (clean up your minds ladies) just needs to be dropped into the nearest bin.

GreekDogRescue · 25/08/2023 10:02

She posts endless thirst shots and when one of her pervy followers responds with a flattering comment she jumps down his neck.
She posted another photo of her legs in heels and a bloke compliments her saying they are ‘shapely’ and she was incredibly rude back. No wonder men get confused. She does women no favours at all.

Then posts that her teeny tiny skirt blew over her head. Who is she posting these too? What reaction does she want? Why?

They're the sorts of things I MIGHT post to a friend. Might.

I'd be so embarrassed to let others see that I put my almost 6 year old in that tiny buggy. But let's not forget that Liz's obsessive exercise must take precedence over everything. That and her vanity. So Scout will be flung around in the buggy and then she will take pictures of her mother 24/7, as instructed. I hope her grandparents leave her plenty of money when they pass away - therapy is not cheap.

Shortbread49 · 25/08/2023 15:58

Won’t be long until her daughter Sats no to going in a buggy, on a bike seat or taking photos of her mum. If she is anything like my mum saying no doesn’t go down well

It’s a shame they’ve not offered their daughter extensive therapy through her life. I can ably assume they’re not believers in mental health and are oblivious to at lest in part, set Liz on a path of self destruction. She’s clearly been unhappy from childhood

Shortbread49 · 25/08/2023 19:45

They look like those same shoes again ( not kitten heels though they have a shorter heel)
