Coming Clean by Liz Fraser

A couple of threads that I had posted on relating to the Memoir ‘Coming Clean’ by Liz Fraser have been deleted from the MN site, apparently due to non-compliance of the MN guidelines from the posters. MN are obviously well within their rights to delete threads if they demonstrably fail to comply with their guidelines, nevertheless I feel strongly that MN posters are given a platform to critique this book, and also any other public ventures by this author. It would be neither fair nor right that posters are completely silenced in this particular matter.

As such, and in line with Mumsnet not seeing “anything wrong with honest feedback” I would like to make the comment that Coming Clean as a Memoir falls short due to the shaky and not entirely truthful narrative. There are certain facts contained within this memoir that are easily disprovable (for example, relating to the marital status of both author and her partner when they started their ill-fated affair), which leaves a massive question mark over the rest of the book. Is it entirely reasonable to make money from something that is promoted as truthful when it is, in fact, not entirely true?

I think there are people whose lives have been negatively impacted by the book and its subject matter, and I hope that MN will agree that these people should have a voice, as should anybody who wants to comment on a published piece of work.

As long as posters align their comments with the MN guidelines, this is a topic that people may wish to keep discussing, and also keep in the public domain. And if MN wants to provide a set of rules particular to this thread – certainly if they are arbitrary and differ from the general guidelines - I am sure it would be very helpful.

Mumsnet, please help us to help each other by keeping in the public domain something that us silenced mums feel should be out there.

So she's in Business Dev & fancies herself as a photographer & coffee aficionado (like her ex); has tried stand-up (like he who shall not be named); is a travel writer/consultant (like her ex's ex)...anyone else's life/career she'd like to plagiarise?

Apparently her body makes her feel 'sexy as fuck' and she has decided to tell everyone on Instagram and Twitter. Righty oh. 😂.

I know from experience that it is a fool's errand trying to find logic and sense where there is none, but this latest of Ms Fraser ascribing herself a job title, only to backtrack on it a couple of days later is beyond bizarre. (I know we know she hasn't been offered any job in the way normal people think of job offers, but still!) Kudos to @Umbrellaisback for working out the link between the temporary job title and the ex's real job title. What to make of it, though?

During my career I've worked in several organisations and sectors - often working as a contractor on a short term basis - and I can honestly say that there has never been a single instance where I have been offered (and accepted) a role and not known the exact job title. It's on the job ad. It would be on my application form and cover letter. It's on the invite for interview and the offer letter. It's on the contract of employment. It's on the company email signature on commencement of employment. It's on the company's website and the internal telephone list.

It's never something I would imagine for a weekend, then delete from my profile. (Not that I would put it on my personal profile, because I am not a show-off.)

In the lengthy history of bizarre conduct from Ms Fraser I think this is possibly one of the weirdest episodes.

As I said before, I hope the child is OK. I hope her wider relatives are keeping a close eye on things and keeping in mind her best interests and wellbeing.

Is anyone watching out for her? Can’t they see the glaring red flags? Her post over many weeks are completely nonsensical. If I were her family, I’d be keeping a vigilant eye on her. She’s woven such an elaborate tale that I fear the impending crash will be abrupt and brutal.

With school resuming in less than three weeks, the demands of having a school-aged child will undoubtedly quash her endless travels. While she’s hinted at more travel plans, she must eventually establish some stability, for poor Scout’s sake. My own children often yearn to be home toward the end of summer holidays and when they were younger, eagerly anticipated returning to school. Predictable routine provides much needed stability to many kids.

I can’t help but speculate whether Liz’s constant movement is at the heart of her issues. She can’t seem to settle. With people or places. She has two beautiful homes, but spends very little length of time in either of them. Scout now has three homes. It’s a lot of movement without the endless “holidays”.

Yes, I think the crazed exercising and the leg shots are part of the comedown from her holiday of fantasising - the fake jobs, the revenge, the 'I'm a better parent than you' - she's got home life is as ordinary, as always, and she has hit a brick wall.

The most bizarre part of the Salzburg episode is thinking people would believe you can rock up sweating on a bike to a huge posh hotel and end up with a big job and being offered a suite for the night. C'mon Liz! 😆

Well, she's changed her bio - she's realised she's not actually got a job in business development (I don't think she actually knows what that involves) but "Communication and PR" which is completely different.

Yes, she loves to do that 'I'm just a converse/vans-wearing scruffy tomboy really' act - but WOW, GUYS just look at the butterfly that emerges when little unkempt me dresses in 'girly' clothes. What a stunner I am. L'il me! Tiresome woman. 'Gosh, me? Going into a shop!!?'. 'Sweaty me turned up at a five-star hotel on a bike and wowed them!!!' - she's a walking cliché.

@Piffpaffpoff @Raffington55 it didn’t last long! Our communications and PR expert soon published the most cringe video, further highlighting to her “clients” that an expert or professional she is not.
As communications and PR specialist, do our clients don’t have to, it is our job to understand social media, how it works and how to attract and engage the right followers. Less is often more in business.
In the case of Liz Fraser, she needs to realise she will have even more muted followers than she has lost followers. Those who followed for content on DA or EP or even travel writing, don’t want to witness her very public breakdown. Those who once would have reached out to help her have long been blocked.

@Roomonthedustpan lol, ironically I hadn't seen that as I really was on social media ban for the day until I finished some content and some messaging for one of my clients. Comms pros of the world unite!
