How much was your July energy bill?

popgoesthecat2 · 01/08/2023 19:29

The prices dropped a tiny bit (if you were on the price cap), but my energy bill was still £92. Interested to see how much other people's was, considering it should be one of the lowest months of the year.

It would be low as we were away 16 days in July. Electricity £50? Gas very low. There was none used at all while away. I submitted readings for monthly bill and EDF haven't billed us so maybe too low for them to bother - annoying.

Songlines · 01/08/2023 22:26

10.28 gas
31.75 electricity

Live on my own, 2 bedroom Victorian terrace.
Gas hob and combi boiler. No tumbledryer

Allthefoodandwine · 01/08/2023 22:26

Ummmmm ours was £702!!! Electric car, which is charged 3-4 times a week, but I think something must be majorly wrong looking at the rest of the responses!!

slithytoveisascientist · 01/08/2023 22:44

About £200 but haven't had the figures through yet

We use an air con most days plus lots of gaming

Should I be switching to octopus?

Bonfire23 · 01/08/2023 22:44

I've got a bill from 7th June - 7th July

Electric - £55
Gas - £15

Powaqa · 01/08/2023 23:42

£253 for the month. £225 electric and £28 gas.
4 bed house, 5 adults and 1 child

Babdoc · 01/08/2023 23:52

Just over £200, combined gas and elec, for one person in a 4 bed detached house in Scotland. And that’s with the electric underfloor heating switched off all month, and the gas central heating only being used two hours a day for hot water, plus a total of about 4 one hour bursts of putting the radiators on when it was particularly chilly.

byvirtue · 01/08/2023 23:52

£8.04 but we generated 998kwh in solar and used 667kwh so basically that was our standing charge.

AlltheFs · 01/08/2023 23:57

£127 electric which includes running 2 EV’s. On a specially tariff for electric cars though.

We have oil heating but put £75 away monthly all year for that so we can buy when needed. We obviously haven’t used £75 worth this month, in winter when it is cold it is about £200, when hot water only it’s about £30 but we save the same all year which roughly covers 2 deliveries.

How much kWh have you used for each power type? That's a better record really

SleepingStandingUp · 02/08/2023 00:00

Doggymummar · 01/08/2023 21:12

Ours is still the same as winter £305 per month, no idea how

Your actual usage? Have you compared kWh used for the two periods?

wonderstuff · 02/08/2023 00:02

£25 electric and £25 gas. We have solar panels and when they finally sort out our export bill we should get a chunk of that credited back. Looking at others I wonder if we can reduce the gas (only water at the moment, heating when it’s chilly). 4 of us in a 4bed fairly new house.

jods19 · 02/08/2023 00:06

I've literally just checked and it's £248 for gas and electric for 3 months so it's worked out at £82 a month 😍😍

CopperSeahorses · 02/08/2023 00:08

Are tracker tariffs dependant on having a smart meter?

My July electricity bill was £78 plus a few quid for oil.

Chocolatesandroses · 02/08/2023 00:08

Around £100 for both gas and electric

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 02/08/2023 00:28

Mine was £133 for electric and £45 for gas. Normal 3 bed semi. Are octupus taking on new customers? I seem to be having my pants pulled down.

Indigotree · 02/08/2023 00:34

About £50, two people in 2 bed flat.

caringcarer · 02/08/2023 02:38

I pay £400 pcm but I noticed that in July we only used £290 for electric and gas. I want to build a little buffer before Winter.

MintyIguana · 02/08/2023 06:09

I had a look at octopus tracker and it does say... Over the warmer months, prices tend to be lower, and we expect them to increase – likely double – when the heating comes on and the sun starts setting earlier.

MintyIguana · 02/08/2023 06:10

Octopus also says this... seems a bit risky?

Tracker features Price Cap Protect, which caps the maximum daily price at 100p / kWh for electricity and 30p / kWh for gas – keep in mind that's a lot higher than the Ofgem Energy Price Cap, so if you can't afford prices to increase further, you're probably better off sticking with a protected tariff such as Flexible Octopus.

Sunbird24 · 02/08/2023 06:15

£66. I only have electricity, live on my own, and £10 of that was a visitor charging their electric car!

Augustus40 · 02/08/2023 06:17

Gas on a fixed £57.

Electric £95.

I Thought now ds is working full time the electric would be lower but has only reduced by £15 this month!

Think we are still using the tumble dryer fair bit with all the rain I cannot dry sheets and towels properly unless it gets used.

Having an electric shower doesn't help either.

Gatekeeper · 02/08/2023 06:18

£56 electric and £10 gas

I have been on tracker for nearly a year and this was not the case so far - if it does increase I can move to a different tariff. Paying 3p for gas and 10p for electric some days is a no brainer to me.
