And do you have the heating on?

I thought it was a bit chilly this morning/last night but moving around today it was ok (hoovering etc)
We are sitting on the couch tonight with blankets, and ds just commented it seems to be warmer to night than last night. Checked the thermostat and we are sitting at 15.5 degrees. But we are ok tbh.

How warm is your house tonight?

(No heating yet and I think we are doing ok feeling cold wise iyswim? None of the kids have complained yet! Although we have a box of blankets by the couch. Have put up an extra set of double lines curtains on the main "cold" windows, put in extra foam on windows that were a bit leaky and tend to go to bed earlyish)

Currently set to 17.5 so it will kick in overnight, but not for long. (Only have it on overnight as we have a small baby and it gets too cold in bedrooms otherwise. Wouldn't have it on for myself!)

You're doing well. 15.5 is about my limit I think!

HappyHolidai · 16/11/2022 20:41

20.0, and yes of course the heating is on. I value my health!

HelloBunny · 16/11/2022 20:41

No idea. It’s cold, though. Spent the afternoon in Mum & Dad’s to avail of their heating (I brought dinner for them). Won’t be turning ours on until we have to. Got our electricity bill today... Double the usual. Can’t imagine what it’s gonna be like when the heating goes on.

Grey23 · 16/11/2022 20:42

Mine is 19, heating gone off. Houses need to be warm and ventilated to prevent mould.

OddBoots · 16/11/2022 20:43

Our thermostat is set to 16c, it dropped down to that today (but not below so the heating didn't kick in) - it doesn't feel cold yet but it's not far from it, I wouldn't really want to go any lower.

RoachTheHorse · 16/11/2022 20:44

I have heating on and off in various rooms as needed and currently have a fire lit. If we don't heat we get damp and mould and I'd get that we're ill. We're in an old house so better to maintain than end up with expensive issues to fix.

BettyOBarley · 16/11/2022 20:44

Ours is set to come on below 18c. It's come on briefly a couple of times today.

I have it set to go off completely at 9pm though, we all have blankets/hot water bottles so don't need it to come on overnight and it wakes me up clicking on and off!

PurBal · 16/11/2022 20:45

18.8. Heating is set to 18 so not on. We have half meter thick walls and DH put new roof insulation in over summer.

Lemoncurd · 16/11/2022 20:46

We have thermostats in every room, downstairs the temp is currently reading between 20.2- 20.7 (apart from the cloakroom which is internal and always seems warmer in winter - 21.4). Doesn't look like the heating has been on today.

MadameDe · 16/11/2022 20:47

My thermostat has been set at 18 degrees recently. Last night I woke up freezing in the middle of the night and couldn't get back to sleep. Tonight my heating is going on full blast and I'll worry about the consequences later.

WaddleAway · 16/11/2022 20:47

People who can’t afford to put their heating on also value their health, I’m sure. They just can’t afford to put the heating on.
Anyway… it’s 17 degrees in my house. Had the heating on for an hour earlier when it dropped to 15. Warm enough now with a blanket on the sofa.

Ilikewinter · 16/11/2022 20:47

18 degrees, our stat is set at 18 but is switched off between 7pm and 5.30am. I'd blasted it to 19 earlier though as I was cold so thats why the house is still at 18.
I've got a blanket over my legs but DH is still sat in his shorts!

vestedinterests · 16/11/2022 20:47

3 story mid terrace, 2nd floor which is a spare room/ study and where all the washing is hang -16, 1st floor which where we sleep -17, ground floor -18. And I'm in a very well insulated new built in the SE.

notyourmam · 16/11/2022 20:47

17, in the room I'm in. Heating off elsewhere. Above 16 has felt ok, but if it's dropped below 16 it's started to feel like it isn't a particularly healthy environment to be sitting still in. That might be because the air has a bit of damp to it though. I have a dehumidifier on the way; keen to see if it makes a difference there.

Sirpatrickdelaneypodmore · 16/11/2022 20:48

Was 18 this morning. Felt cold. Didn’t put heating on though.

NewYorkLassie · 16/11/2022 20:48

20.7c in DC’s bedroom where I currently am. No heating on in this room.

heating is kicking in most mornings now but we still have all the radiators off except the heated towel rails (that’s the only way I know it’s kicked in). Set to come on at different temps at different times of the day.

Activelyannoyed · 16/11/2022 20:48

World health says nor below 18 or you risk respiratory illness, mine is about 21. We have the log burner on, it’s Cold upstairs but I will put the heating on for an hour before bed.

your house must feel very uncomfortable indeed

bareskin · 16/11/2022 20:49

No heating yet it's currently 20.5 - terraced with neighbours that like the heat which is good for us :)

She’s not doing well they are risking respiratory illness. I get she can’t afford to heat her home and they live in poverty but it does not mean it’s something ri be congratulated. Like ooh you’ve not eaten for 48 hours as you are skint and feel fine, you’re doing well. No. No she’s not.

Jellybean23 · 16/11/2022 20:51

We have switched our heating off but keep an eye on the hall temperature. It was 15.5 at 6am so we treated ourselves to one hour's heating at shower time and another hour this afternoon, thermostat set to 17C.

MammaWeasel · 16/11/2022 20:53

Our thermostat is set to 16 and I am sitting comfortably in a hoodie.

Mylittlesandwich · 16/11/2022 20:53

16.5 hasn't dropped below that all day so we haven't had the heating on today. Usually if it gets to shout 15 I think it's too cold and I'd need to put the heating on at that point.

MyRiverThee · 16/11/2022 20:53

Heating on, thermometer says 22. Feels just right.

Lilypeony · 16/11/2022 20:54

I got a room thermometer I’ve left it downstairs which is the coldest at it’s reading 16 …heating hasn’t been on today

Claudia84 · 16/11/2022 20:54

We're on 15 degrees as well.
How am I risking respiratory illness? I can cope when it's that temperature outside and we don't have damp in the house?
