What temp is your house right now?

And do you have the heating on?

I thought it was a bit chilly this morning/last night but moving around today it was ok (hoovering etc)
We are sitting on the couch tonight with blankets, and ds just commented it seems to be warmer to night than last night. Checked the thermostat and we are sitting at 15.5 degrees. But we are ok tbh.

How warm is your house tonight?

(No heating yet and I think we are doing ok feeling cold wise iyswim? None of the kids have complained yet! Although we have a box of blankets by the couch. Have put up an extra set of double lines curtains on the main "cold" windows, put in extra foam on windows that were a bit leaky and tend to go to bed earlyish)

Our caravan is 21 degrees, quite cosy 😊

Roundmywaythe · 16/11/2022 21:54

20.4 and heating still on. 15 degrees and I would be teeth chattering. Below 19.5 I feel distinctly uncomfortable

33goingon64 · 16/11/2022 21:54

Thermostat set to 17. It's currently 18.5 because we've got the fire lit. Not had heating on much at all and only in mornings when it's gone below 17 overnight. The bedrooms will be chilly but can cope with that.

Too warm, we have a log burner and it’s 24c. Tbf it heats most of the house because we leave the doors open.

I'd melt in that heat!

Mine is currently 15.

TokyoSushi · 16/11/2022 21:57

21.4, it feels slightly chilly. No heating, I have a blanket.

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 16/11/2022 21:59

Our heating comes on if the temperature goes down below 17.5, but each end of the day. I can’t believe people have it on at night! We have a 13.5 tog duvet and a hot water bottle.

BeanieTeen · 16/11/2022 22:01

I put the heating on briefly this morning and this evening when I got home, when it’s not on it’s around 16 degrees according to my thermostat - fine for sleeping or obviously when the house is empty. 18 is good for when doing things around the house, or getting out of the shower. 20 I think would definitely feel too warm. 16 or 17 is good for evenings when you’re cosy on the sofa with a throw on you.

"Work in retail so well below the fullt time average wage for the uk. Yet still dont qualify for anything benefits wise as on paper dh has a well paying job, but is currently off on long term sick. (Think almost a year so things have been getting tighter and tighter. )"

Means-tested benefits are based on actual income, so if his sick pay is less than his usual salary, you might qualify. SSP usually runs out after 28 weeks, but maybe he's getting contractual sick pay? Or ESA. Anyway, might be worth checking using an online benefit calculator (Entitledto or Turn2Us) or contacting Citizens Advice: www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/universal-credit/claiming/helptoclaim/

Sorry, I know that wasn't the question you asked!

Lindy2 · 16/11/2022 22:02

I've put the heating on for the last couple of evenings. Before that our log burner was enough as it wasn't too cold outside.

With it being colder though and the constant rain we're having, I had noticed that one bathroom smelt a little damp. It needs some heat to keep dry.

I'm not particularly happy about what's showing on our smart meter display for only literally a few hours of heat at 18 degrees though.

shinynewapple22 · 16/11/2022 22:03

The thermostat in the living room says 19 but it's colder in the rest of the house.

Had the heating on earlier this evening and briefly this morning . I always leave the thermostat right down low so it doesn't lock in until I decide I'm cold and want to put it on - at which point I nudge it up just enough for the heating to kick in.

Currently sitting in bed in my fleecy dressing gown with a hot water bottle.

20.0, and yes of course the heating is on. I value my health!

This. Lit the fire earlier too.

SuperCamp · 16/11/2022 22:05

19’

I am plenty warm enough and wish I had thought to turn the heating off an hour ago as I am about to go to bed leaving the front room warm.

Radiator not in in bedroom

ShinyPikachu · 16/11/2022 22:07

19.7°. The heating hasn't been on since the hour it goes on between 7 and 8 every morning. I have needed it on some other evenings recently but it's not been needed tonight.

shivermetimbers77 · 16/11/2022 22:08

23 degrees, haven’t had the heating on yet. …New build flat, like an oven in the summer. .

bloodywhitecat · 16/11/2022 22:08

The thermostat on the landing reads 17°, downstairs is 19° except for the living room which is higher as I have the log burner lit. The heating isn't on tonight but I will put it on to bring the house up to 20° downstairs when we get up. My little one's thermoregulation is off so they get cold very easily, they are warm enough in bed but once we're up and about I keep an eye to make sure they are not getting too cold.

RudsyFarmer · 16/11/2022 22:08

We’re around 17 degrees and it’s not too bad.

Desmondo2021 · 16/11/2022 22:09

16 degrees and toasty in my oodie :)

Literally not worried about respiratory illness in the slightest! What a ridiculous notion to scaremonger people.
Sadly there are people who would have to heat their house at the expensive of eating, so as much a risk to health. Or at risk of mental health deteriorating through the stress of our finances.

If your financial situation is solid then crack on and heat your house. If you need to be more careful then well done all on the resilience to cope with a less than tropical house. And if, like me, it's just become a personal challenge to keep bills as low as possible and carry on saving and living to your normal levels then well done on your bloodymindedness!!!

AdoraBell · 16/11/2022 22:10

Right now downstairs is 19C, thermostat set at 18C
Upstairs is 17.

Earlier today upstairs was 14 and downstairs 16. Our electricity keeps tripping and I didn’t realise last night that the heating system was shut down. Fiddled with the controls this afternoon and it came back on. It’s a new fangled system with an air source heat pump. Fantastic when it’s working but complex if something happens.

thelobsterquadrille · 16/11/2022 22:10

16.5 but it really doesn't feel cold. We've not had the heating on at all since March.

I'm in bed with the windows wide open and it's barely hit double figures here today - it was 11 degrees at 2pm and 7 degrees when I started work outside at 10am.

I was cold at work once it started getting dark but as soon as I was home and had a shower I was fine.

daffodilandtulip · 16/11/2022 22:12

Heating is set to 13 overnight and 17 in the day. I WFH so sometimes change it to 17 by noon, sometimes it won't be until teatime. It's kicking in most of the time over the last few days.

It was 15 when I came down this morning but I don't think outside temps are dropping that much yet.

RedRosie · 16/11/2022 22:15

21.5. largish flat in central London, (fairly efficient and quite modern) storage heating on a low input/output setting. This a comfortable temperature.

We can absorb the increased bills, so are very lucky and will probably donate any govt support we get. It's a very worrying time for many people.

Digimoor · 16/11/2022 22:20

We have had the heating on - it's approx 18 degrees in the coolest room
Sitting about it's a bit chilly but if you are moving about doing stuff it's fine

shivawn · 16/11/2022 22:20

17° today and yesterday, that's the coldest it's dropped so far this year. I had the heating on for a bit earlier but it's off now for the night.

DeathMetalMum · 16/11/2022 22:29

18c in the living room. We had the heating on for about a hour earlier. Before that it was 16c, this morning it was 15c when I woke up.

We have already cleared a few small spots of mould, from a corner of dc's room. We need to have the heating on to make sure it doesn't spread as that would mean we would likely have to replace clothes/furniture.

Celeryfavour · 16/11/2022 22:32

Mines 14, haven't used the heating yet. I am cold sitting downstairs but warm in bed. How are people managing 20 plus with no heating?
