Gosh Camden you do well. That's about my weekly average.

Pasta, just the usual. Bolognese, sometimes plain with cheese, carbonara. I've switched to pea pasta which is £££ but less bloat inducing.

Need to catch up on sewing bee and the a word. But yesterday was not a good day so went to bed straight after the dc

ememem84 · 07/05/2020 07:04

Killing eve!!!!

Fleabag is also good.

If you have Netflix I’ve watched:

High seas - in Spanish but subtitled - murder mystery on post war Spanish cruise ship
Ozark - Mexican cartels, money laundering etc
Working moms
The dark

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/05/2020 07:12

Yes killing eve , Definitely

Lovemaltesers · 07/05/2020 07:19

All the series of Spooks are on I player. Looks a bit dated sometimes but we enjoy it still.

I better get moving out of bed. Got to go into work again today- good thing I told DC school they were likely to have to go in advance as I could foresee I would need to go in again.

LaneBoy · 07/05/2020 07:46

I am very excited about the new series of working moms!

I started a thread about ideas for job choices if anyone wouldn’t mind having a look please! Trying to think of options to look into but the work board is very quiet :o

Working Moms!!!! Love it! Season 4!!

CamdenLurker · 07/05/2020 20:42

Thanks for the tv recommendations, I'll persevere with Normal People and give working mums a shot. Killing Eve is waaaay too violent for me, I've seen a few clips on gogglebox.

I decided that the lockdown binging had to stop and today I'm suffering from a terrible headache - guessing it's the withdrawal from all the rubbish I was consuming, this time last year I was 2 stone lighter than I am today, so ashamed and I feel awful- like I've completely given up on myself, I'm back on my fitness pal to try and get back in control.

Mrsmadevans · 07/05/2020 21:32

Hello everyone Grin
I have been busy today, got up at 6 to be in my local Tesco by 7, very quiet and civilised in there fair dos , plenty of stock , no restrictions now. Spent £40 .
I had to work out Mum's assessment for her contribution to carer's allowance myself, they had totally buggered the amount up. Wanted her to pay £87 weekly instead of £57! Sorted it all out at last but it is all stress that l dont need because it has taken a month to sort out tooing and frooing with the assessment team Hmm. The bother l had to go through to get PPE for Mum was unbelievable as well Hmm
It's all very stressful esp with the bloody virus as well Hmm
We had an afternoon tea delivered from Morrisons for Mum and Bob, it's lovely l am really pleased with it , they will enjoy it tomorrow l know Smile Spent £15 on that but it was well worth it . Would definitely get it again it is excellent value Smile

ememem84 · 08/05/2020 06:57

£125 at coop yesterday. Lots of fruit and veggies. Stuff for freezer - loads of reduced meat.

Still no flour. Of any kind. That scuppers my baking with ds this weekend.

Unescorted · 08/05/2020 07:05

Morning people.

I don't know what happened there - I have lost a couple of days. Well not really I have been busy. I had a lockdown 50th birthday which was simultaneously lovely and sad. We had tapas because I couldn't decide what the best dinner would be. A constant stream of phone calls, emails and cards dropped off.

I have done more in the garden, I am limited by the volume of the green bin. I mentioned it to a friend who has generously offered me room in theirs. It is annoying - our closest tip is open but we live in the next borough so can't use it.

Normal People is good. Although there were a couple of times I was shouting at the TV. I also love Sewing Bee.

I went with DD2, who is Chinese, to Tesco in the next town. It was so stressful we were shouted at, glared at, people saw us and backed away. Including the staff on the door (glare and wouldn't let us in until 4 people had left the store). DD2 cleverly said so they could hear "it is so nice of you to let me stay, if you hadn't I would have been in care or on the street these last 4 weeks" to shame them. I was so enraged on her behalf.

Wolf & Sea and Born? did you see that CS get testing for us & 3 of our households. I am not sure how we access them and if it is one time only.

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/05/2020 07:30

Unescorted we have an intranet link to fill in I think and then get the details. I will check next week.

It's hard when your feel like that Camden. You did it before and your can do it again. Come see us on the frugaleers weight loss thread

Loads of ridiculous stock outs in Sainsbury's. No lemon, no tomatoes soup, no white wraps bollocks. Also this morning then

Wolfcub · 08/05/2020 07:44

Happy birthday Unescorted DaffodilCakeWine

We've been testing our frontline for a couple of weeks but now expanded to anyone who has reported symptoms and isolated or been off sick with it. I am so uncomfortable about the idea of going back to work even though I do quite miss people

Re the response to dd2, people are twats

Ordered three jumpers in the joules sale yesterday, one is the same as one I've been wearing in lockdown but a different colour, it's so soft and comfy I couldn't resist

Ocado shop arrived last night £199 Shock. I have hot and cold running ants in the kitchen so it did include ant bait

Need to do meter readings today, slightly worried I'll go into the cellar to read the meter and be beset by ants!

I’m here! Been AWOL for a couple of days too... busy work week and also Wednesday and Thursday were the anniversary of my granny /dad’s death 2 years ago. So I wasn’t feeling chatty. It was a bit easier than last year but I was worrying about my mum. It’s a hard time for her to be on her own.

Camden I am in the same situation - literally exactly the same. I am still eating All The Crap though. I don’t know what is wrong with me but I know that DS’s meltdowns are a trigger for me to run to the biscuits and those are plentiful at the moment. There was a thread a few weeks back about excellent foreign language words that don’t have an English language equivalent, and a German one stuck with me - kummerspeck. It literally means ‘grief bacon’, ie the weight gain from sad /stressful tunes. I’m carrying a lot of grief bacon!

Today we are having a VE anniversary street party - strictly isolated with people having afternoon tea on their own front gardens and waving at each other. But I think if will be fun. We’re decorating the front and everything. I’ve made /am making a lot of cake. But it really has to stop. I genuinely have no idea what I would wear if called into work, nothing fits SadBlush. I’ll be over on the Frugaleers’ weight loss thread again next week....

Happy birthday Unescorted. You kept that quiet! Shame to have a milestone birthday under these circumstances, if you’d normally celebrate with others , but at least you won’t forget it. With DD2, why were people being funny? Because you are different race to each other or specifically because she is Chinese? People are wankers sometimes. I hope it didn’t upset her.

I have flour but sugar is the challenge here - caster sugar is nowhere to be found! In fact I’m completely fine for flour as it turns out NDN (who is still commuting to his office a couple of times a week) works next to a flour mill with a small shop attached. So he can pop in and get me some any time - limited to 10 bags but he doesn’t mind sharing his quota with me! I gave him yeast so we are good Wink. I might get him to stock me up with SR for now... though I am going to have to save some of the caster sugar I do have for DD’s birthday cake next month. I found some on amazon but it’s double the normal price, hmmm.

Em could you get oats and bake flapjacks instead? Or cornflake cakes? Tiffin?

It’s my lie-in today but I might get up and start tidying up outside and baking. I’ve made mini choux fingers for eclairs, so must fill and glaze those, plus make lemon shortbread and scones. And maybe brownies. Also made a lime and coconut cake yesterday - new random internet recipe - but it looks a bit dry. This is a lot of cake but I’ve a couple of friends collecting stuff for their own teas - gotta have variety!

Must get on... have a lovey BH everyone. The sun is shining!

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/05/2020 08:23

Happy birthday unescorted .x

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/05/2020 08:27

I've got loads of golden caster sugar as it's been a sub for brown the last few weeks. Shame you are not closer sea.

I agree unescorted people are uneducated twats.

Unescorted · 08/05/2020 09:14

Sea specifically because she is Chinese and we are in a very White area. You can count on the finger of one finger then number of non whites. I understand that it is driven by fear - but dear goodness do they not see that infection rates here are far higher than China. DD2 would be safer with her mum, but can't fly back due to immigration restrictions.

Aldi have caster sugar around here. Not golden.... but if needs must.

em the Guardian has an article on flourless baking here

I can hear the weight gain pain - I started off running and going out every day and then got a bit of a cough so stopped. And haven't started again. My crap consumption is not helping.

My garden is coming along nicely... I have also joined the new gardeners thread because I have loads of questions and it seems to have a couple of really knowledgeable people on there.

LaneBoy · 08/05/2020 10:53

Happy birthday unescorted!

CamdenLurker · 08/05/2020 11:55

Happy Birthday unescorted Smile

Sea* I have 100% got the bacon grief, what a fab word to describe a crappy situation, I was queuing for the supermarket the other day and it just dawned on me that I'm so miserable mostly because of my weight, and I have to do something now because I never want to feel like this again, I've almost given up on myself completely, I look like a sack of spuds whatever I wear so why bother?

Life - I once had a sub from Tesco and they replaced fish fingers with a whole fish (mackerel I think), thanks for the mention of the weight loss group I'm heading there now!

Wolf £199 on a food shop Shock I think I would have fainted, bet you got some lovely stuff though? How many is that for?? I'm not sure if I'm realistic with my food budget of £100 a week, certainly not at the moment anyway, I used to go to the market on a Saturday morning and could pick up some great bargains, I'm really missing that right now.

This morning I chose the colour for my new kitchen and think I rushed into it, I picked Dulux fossil trace which is a grey, because the units will be cashmere I was worried about clashing with certain colours, initially I was set on Egyptian Cotton which, as I'm very boring, is my go to colour, the room is big, 9 meters wide with two bare brick feature walls and 9 metre bi-folds, so only one wall will be this colour. I'm now concerned that it's a bit too dark. The photo isn't mine that's one I found online so I'm not sure about the lighting. Any thoughts??

You know what, I’d never even considered flourless baking. Thanks for that!

Making a lemon drizzle cake.

northender · 08/05/2020 12:56

Happy birthday Unescorted. Quick check in.
I started off lockdown/isolation really well and lost weight, but I've found it all again! Need to get back into the right frame of might. I'm going to book myself an online PT session this week £10 & I know it will be good for me to help kickstart things again.
Grocery shop this morning £150 for the 4 of us.

ChristmasSeacow · 08/05/2020 13:56

I think that’s a gorgeous colour Camden, though hard to tell whether it’ll work for you without seeing the units. If it’s only in one wall I wouldn’t have thought it would be too dark?

I see Unescorted. I went to school in an area like that but after years in the melting pots of oxford and London I’d forgotten that would be unusual for some people!

Very brief rest as my feet are throbbing, then hopping in the shower to freshen up before filling my eclairs and assembling mini pavlovas. I’ve made lemon shortbread, choc cupcakes and scones today. We have a lot of cake! 🐷. Need to find the oilcloth that fits the trestle table as the small garden table won’t be big enough for all the cake

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/05/2020 14:04

I have a similar colour in my kitchen/ diner but it's a mushroom grey. It's not too dark but only on 2 walls. Yy need to see against cupboards

ememem84 · 08/05/2020 14:25

Lemon drizzle cake and some fruity scones made. There’s apparently a street party here tomorrow to celebrate 75 years of liberation from nazi occupation.

Productive day too.

Have stripped beds and washed bedding. Also hung duvets and throw blankets on the line to air.

Washed net curtains from garage window too (second wash to try and whiten them up. First was to get rid of the grime! I don’t think they’d been washed since they were put up!!!)

Replanted some geraniums in the front garden with ds. And watching dh dog up the turf to reposition it. He’s doing a seriously great job.

ememem84 · 08/05/2020 14:32

Things I want for our garden.

Pink flamingo ornaments. I’m going to buy two from amazon when dh has finished and just put them out when he’s not looking. Will claim they escaped from the zoo or something....

Wolfcub · 08/05/2020 17:55

Camden it's for two for two weeks but in my defence include lots of spices that have run out, loo roll and cleaning stuff including hand sanitizer as I think were potentially going back to offices soon, a new notebook as my work one is full, card and wrapping paper, ant bait. It didn't feel like there was a huge amount of food when it arrived to be honest. Three fresh meat packs. Cured meat/sausage/bacon etc and very little veg due to veg box. So felt very expensive.
