Girlie I love your famous dogs quiz. If you're doing two roles, then I hope they're paying you twice. I'm assuming the whiffy dog smell has faded by now.

Duchess sorry to hear about your DP's work reduction and possible redundancy. On a happier note, sounds like your Mum enjoyed her birthday. Your naughty kitty made me laugh - taking the Whiskas pouches out of the bag.

em glad DD is feeling better.

Happier sorry to hear about the delay with your house but at least you're renting in a scenic place.

Lane that's a very brave step. I wish you every luck in your endeavours.

life have you left your job? Or did a contract finish up? Sorry, I must have missed a post somewhere. Anyway, your presents were lovely.

Unescorted don't feel guilty about directing the catering size tins elsewhere. If I was dependent on food donations, the last thing I'd want is giant tins of prunes! At least this way the donations are going to a good cause. Rainbow I agree with you about the treat stuff.

Wolf Sorry you've had a rough week. I hope the new plants help to raise your spirits. Your new walking spot sounds nice. You showed remarkable restraint by not tampering with Ex's cake. Not even a laxative? Ex left a good few things behind here but I agreed to that because he's living in a room in his parents' house. As soon as he gets his own place, I'll take great pleasure in offloading several boxes of his possessions.

Mrs your mum and Bob look very content.

It's a bank holiday weekend here although it's kind of meaningless atm because nobody is going anywhere or doing anything exciting. DD is with Ex this weekend but she's coming back for our first family Zoom quiz this evening. Then I'll drop her back for Monday. Our Taoiseach (Prime Minister) made a speech on Friday night. Basically, lockdown is extended until the 18th May. From that date, we'll start opening up things in different stages. Garden centres, DIY shops and golf courses will be the first things to open up on the 18th May. Glad we have a plan although it's all subject to change so we can't really make assumptions.

Morning lovely sunny day today. Will go my walk and then do some tidying in the garden followed by sitting doing nothing but reading (hopefully)

Spends this week: - £180 on food Shopping and £80 on birthday present
My freezer is pretty full now so might spend a bit less next week 🤞
I went to Morrisons for the first time since Lockdown and they were selling big bags (the ones they put the sausage rolls, chicken etc in) of strong bread flour for about 50p I didn’t buy any as I’ve got some but I managed to get a bag of plain flour 🎉

Did you manage to get some Hand gel unescorted? I have some spare I could send you if you’re stuck.

SnugglySnerd · 03/05/2020 10:27

Yes North exactly like that and they are delicious.

SnugglySnerd · 03/05/2020 10:28

We did wholemeal ones and also added some sundried tomatoes.

maddenlightfoot · 03/05/2020 10:38

Enjoy your sunny garden and walk born!

Snuggly those rolls look lovely!

Em your Chinese order is spot on! Exactly what we would order here (although usually just egg fried rather than shrimp fried rice - will give that a go next time), although we haven't had a 'lockdown take-away' yet.

3 frugal wins here already today 🙌
bagged a free balance bike from our local fb group - will pick up from their front garden this morning.
found my old Fitbit and just found the charger as well! Had been thinking of buying a new charger and definitely needed a new watch as lost mine at the beginning of the year.
Have made some little cheesecakes for pudding later using all the bits of biscuits in the bottom of the barrel that no-one will eat, half a tub of cream cheese and a few spoons of Nutella 😋

Wolfcub · 03/05/2020 11:05

Walk done. Washing done but looks like it's about to rain. @unescorted hope you got your washing out yesterday

Might persuade ds into a game before he attaches himself to something electronic.

I forgot to say that our schools are now closed until the new academic year. The secondary schools finish up in early June anyway. The Leaving Certificate exams have been postponed until July (they usually take place in early June). I don't know if the Leaving Cert. exam pupils will return to school at all before their exams? Seems very unfair to have them sit such important exams (university entrance will be dependent on the points they achieve in these exams) if they haven't been to school for four months. Not my problem thankfully but I feel very sorry for the pupils (and parents) facing this scenario.

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/05/2020 12:19

Tayto i got promoted in march so was finishing one team and starting a new role. Same organisation, same area but different strand. And more money. It's a bit of a grown-up job though so we will have to see how it goes.

I'm confused by the rules em. How can DM see you only as a 2 but you can see them as a 4? Or have I got confused.

northender · 03/05/2020 12:21

We've been for a lovely walk this morning, not too many people around and exploring paths that we haven't been on in the 15 years we've been here! It started raining just as we got home, but is lovely and sunny now. We got washing dry yesterday & the forecast is looking good for a few days now I think. Dd made us bacon butties for breakfast which were delish.
Snuggly they look great, going to make some tomorrow i think.

I've got a chicken to roast for tea, but fancy roast with a twist, any suggestions?

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/05/2020 12:22

Forced the DC out this morning as forecast rain by now. Has it arrived? Nope... Time to replan the day

Wolfcub · 03/05/2020 12:47

North have you got cous cous? I sometimes do my roast chicken with a slightly spiced cous cous with roasted veg run through it and lots of lemon

Pancakes, bacon and egg for lunch. This is why I will never be thin

Congrats. on your promotion life and good luck in your new role.

Wolf I suspect I've gained a lot of weight since lockdown. I went to weigh myself yesterday but the battery on the weighing scales has died. I'll see if I can get a new battery next week. It's one of those flat batteries - not AA or AAA. I went for a very long walk yesterday and I'll do the same today. Really wish I could visit my usual walking spots but they're too far away and one of them (gardens) has closed. It's a lovely day here and tomorrow is meant to be more of the same.

My Boden and Sports Direct packages arrived on Friday. DD is still waiting on hers. Nice to have non-holey runners (trainers). I'll keep the holey ones for gardening.

ememem84 · 03/05/2020 13:18

Leftover Chinese for lunch. Le yum!!!!

madden I was tempted by pineapple rice. But dh wouldn’t go for it. My only gripe was I thought that the duck would come pre shredded. But it didn’t.

I’ll know for next time though and just ask them to shred it up and make sure there’s loads of crispy skin.

I’m feeling yuk today. All sinusey and sore throaty and headachey. Am going back to bed when the dc head for a nap.

Dd enjoyed her piece of cake and ds has been messing around with snapchat filters with me!

Rainb0w · 03/05/2020 14:42

Declaring
£20 spend yesterday
Nsd today and aiming for one tomorrow too. Need to look back at April and work out how many NSD ive done.
Left over Chinese is the best arguably better than the actual fresh meal.
Think I might have lost a tiny bit of weight since I've been furlong.

Such cute kids @ememem84

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/05/2020 15:06

I hung me washing out. It's now raining...

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/05/2020 15:08

Lost weight..........rolf

Lovemaltesers · 03/05/2020 19:22

I don’t dare stand on the scales 😂 Although I snack less at home. I eat when I’m frustrated, which happens a lot at work!

NSD, £75ish Ocado ship due to come tomorrow.

Mrsmadevans · 03/05/2020 19:40

Evening everyone Smile
I have had a smashing day 😀 brilliant shop from Tesco only sub was grapes for wait for it ....grapes 😂 £85 but 20 was Mum's and 10 was NDN , so 55 really, also popped into M& S and bought fruity chicken curries for Mum and Toad in the hole for Bob Grin they love these ready meals from there Smile Tesco was a c&c order and was excellent as per tbf.
Unescorted I managed to get hand gel from M & S & from when l popped into Waitrose , thank God because Mum and NDN have run out and we were on our last drops. Grin They would only let us have 2 each but the ones in Waitrose were big family bottles of 300 mls for 3.49, M& S were 50 ml for 1 pound. They were at the tills Smile
Hope everyone is ok Smile , l have been addicted to the tool from the ONS to put your post code in to see how affected by CV19 your area has been. It is quite eye opening. I was afraid to go out of my front door before but now l see the results l am much less afraid. Hence my run to M&S & Waitrose, with a mask and gloves and gel mind !
Lovely pics Em Smile and hope you feel much better soon.
Congratulations on your promotion life Star
Tayto ' I suspect I've gained a lot of weight since lockdown. I went to weigh myself yesterday but the battery on the weighing scales has died. I'll see if I can get a new battery next week. It's one of those flat batteries - not AA or AAA'....... ME TOO Hmm Grrrrrrrrr!
However are the batteries the flat coin type like a 10p piece ? Only l buy mine from Ikea in a pkt of about 8 for 2 pounds l think. Don't want anything for it but l had to change the one in mine today it was weighing me 5 pounds lighter SadSad serve me right l have been so gutsy! Madden well done with the frugal finds Grin saved yourself a fortune!
Born that is brill getting flour like that from Morrisons , hunter gatherer extraordinaire ! Smile

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/05/2020 19:43

Mrsmadevans · 03/05/2020 19:49

Here it is 😂 have banned her from touching him again 😂😂😂

Unescorted · 03/05/2020 20:08

Oh Mrs bless him..... at least he can't see it & it will grow out.

We have hand sanitiser on it's way..... strings were pulled & favours called in.

wolf - I got it dry today. This weekend was not as nice as billed.

I have had the most lovely day with DS.... we have had a really good natter about stuff. You know one of those lovely meandering conversations about nothing and everything. We weeded the garden together, cooked together, hung the washing out together.

I have dropped off the seeds that Lonely sent me back in the day at a friends, they are coming back so I can second sow.

And DD's boyfriend was driven past our house as a gift to them by his parents. I think his parents are coming round to the idea that she isn't so bad...

StraightOuttaCamden · 03/05/2020 20:34

Hey everyone,

I've been awol for a few days, still on MN but I started reading the unsolved mysteries thread and basically fell down a rabbit hole 🕳, then joined Reddit to read more and before I knew it I'd lost days lol.

Hope you are all well and coping with this continuing situation, I broke the rules and visited my mum yesterday, it was an emergency situation and I felt I had no choice. She's in a really difficult situation and her safety is being compromised. Thankfully she now has some help from a professional organisation so hopefully will be sorted soonish.

I'm off to catch up with the posts I've missed Smile

Unescorted · 03/05/2020 20:46

Camden you can visit vulnerable people if you are caring for them. It sounds like it was so I don't think you broke the rules.

Mrsmadevans · 03/05/2020 21:08

Camden l go to Mum and Bob's every morning for hours m'dear, it's 16 miles away from where we live. I take all the precautions l can. l am sure you are not in any trouble or even if the poice stopped you they would understand. We have been stopped twice in 7 weeks we were just waved through when we said we were caring for Mum . I hope everything is ok with your Mum bless you Flowers
