Yes, I’d shallow fry and turn them often.

Out-of-office is on and I’m in the garden. It’s 22C here and sunny, just lovely.

Do you think it’s okay to plant my tomatoes out now? Has the threat of frost passed, do you think?

Taytocrisps · 24/04/2020 15:02

Thanks everyone. Wolf I have a wok so I'll use that. I don't know why I didn't think of it earlier.

Bornlazy · 24/04/2020 15:15

Beautiful here too, we’ve actually go the parasol up as it’s a bit too warm. Not looking forward to wearing a mask at work all weekend 🥵

Nipped in to Lidl today to look for flour which of course they didn’t have. Still managed to spend £15. No other spends planned until Tuesday (hopefully)

I feel as if I might have a touch of hay fever which I’ve never had before. My nose starts running everyday when I go for my walk. Which is not a good look right now...

Give that’s great that you’re doing so well.

£11.64 food spends
£2 part of a birthday present
£2 part of another birthday present
Can't see any other purchases needed this weekend now unless I end up finishing gift buying online.

Mrsmadevans · 24/04/2020 16:17

Afternoon everyone Smile
Am just scoffing a large pkt of M & M's eggs , very nice too. Not as nice as the Terry's orange ones l am sure , judging by the scarcity of them on Tesco's shelves Grin
Also did you know that sunshine kills the virus within mins of exposure according to the Orange fountain of all knowledge aka POTUS! What a joke of a man. He just doesn't care what he says .
Dh minus a tee shirt, not a good look l can assure you , is currently spraying the garden furniture/patio with his power tool Grin
We were stopped by the polis on the way home from Bob's first time since lockdown , there was no hassle , just asked where we had been and where we were going. We told him We want to stay home, we don't want to go out, we wish we didn't have to do Mum & Bob. That is the truth, the whole truth so help me God, Officer Dibble. We didn't but we wanted to.Grin
I am very happy to say l haven't got CV Grin it's awful hay fever . Took an antihistamine this morning and l am fine Grin Hmm
Give that is wonderful news well done sweetie! Am over the moon for you Smile Flowers thank you re DD1 too she is ok , just the way life is for her and it sucks sometimes Hmm
Born sounds like hay fever to me too , we got the umbrella ella ella up too Grin
Wolf thank you, l feel so much better now l know l haven't got CV & it is just my anxiety getting the better of me Hmm
Well done on the work too Smile

Delicious!

Mrsmadevans · 24/04/2020 16:19

Forgot to say Give Parma violet cider sounds just delicious and l want one like NOW! Grin

Bornlazy · 24/04/2020 17:14

I have discovered a wonderful thing. It’s too early in the year for me to be exposing my fat white legs in shorts but I do want to get them tanned so I have started, in the privacy of my back garden only, wearing my pyjama bottoms with my normal clothes on my top half. Probably a bit like people who are WFH do on conference calls 😜. This set up means I can roll them right up to tan my legs when I’m positioned on the chairs/lounger but I don’t need to see them when I’m up moving about. Now obviously a baggy pair of normal trousers would also work but I don’t have any of those handy ( think they’re in the loft) and when you’re in a lockdown no one is coming to visit so anything goes 😂

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/04/2020 17:50

I saw the Parma violet in Aldi. But I don't like the sweets so didn't bother.
Not nsd today as got DC pizza coming £10 ish. will go to Aldi in the morning as they are still on short hours so can't go tonight.

Lovely here. I went on 2 walks as need to exercise DS more as he is struggling mentally but then DD was to be forced out after school.

DS has hay fever for the first time. Pleased it was not CV.

Wolfcub · 24/04/2020 17:53

I have a flour delivery woooo. Anyone have any interesting pasta or wonton recipes I can try

LaneBoy · 24/04/2020 17:56

Orange fountain 😂 love that (the name, not the person!)

I’m happy today as did some paid work for the first time in ridiculously long. It’s typing and editing and it was frankly a bit weird doing it by phone, so won’t be as quick (she’s also very chatty! Fascinating woman though), but she has online banking now so the payment is instant too :o

SnugglySnerd · 24/04/2020 20:08

Why am I so tired?? I haven't been up at the crack of dawn or rushing about or sitting in traffic or doing many of the usual exhausting things for ages!

Unescorted · 24/04/2020 21:14

Every 2nd Thursday is Parma Violet night …. I live not a million miles away from the factory. You can smell it as you come in on the train.

I am jealous of the flour deliveries.... We are almost out of all flour except garam.

Snuggly I am shattered too. I was thinking of tucking up in bed to watch Sewing Bee and Gardeners World... but I will be asleep before we get to the end of the opening credits.

Born we have gone beyond proper tops on top in video conferencing. Jim Jams top to bottom. It is the twin set of the 2020's. I will have to buy some bold print Italian Silk ones. these ought to do it

Wolfcub · 25/04/2020 08:00

Those are some very swish pjs Unescorted

Unescorted · 25/04/2020 09:03

They are - I suspect way out of my price range, but I can pretend.... Teams is missing a trick. Sod the "my house is tidy really" backgrounds, they need to have virtual outfits and haircuts.

I am going to make scrambled eggs and toast for my breakfast before everyone else gets up..... and then I am going to tackle the front garden. I need to find batteries for my radio to keep me company.

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 25/04/2020 09:07

The talk re uses for excess carrots reminded me of one of my uni friends filling her baked potato with half grated cheese and half grated carrot. It was delicious. I have a juicer so would do juices with them and freeze to take to work, carrot and pineapple or orange.

In to work today, later. Until then sorting our the usual and baking cheese scones. We were given Easter treats from Hotel Chocolat yesterday, caramel filled chocolate bunnies. I have hidden them in the fridge, Mr Duchess doesn’t know about them yet. One of our lovely daycare nurses baked each of us a cookie, individually wrapped. I shall ask her for the recipe, it was like a very light digestive with coconut in it, quite crumbly.

Unescorted · 25/04/2020 09:23

Can I just say no euphuisms were used in my previous post....

ChristmasSeacow · 25/04/2020 10:46

I just watched sewing bee this morning Unescorted, it was really fun. It’s made me want to make clothes easy ones , something I did a bit of as a teen but not since. I’ve seen some fabric I‘d love for a skirt but it’s quite a weighty canvas. I’d need a pattern suitable for denim or similar. Might have a look about.

ChristmasSeacow · 25/04/2020 10:47

The fabric has got cacti on and makes me smile Smile

Wolfcub · 25/04/2020 11:22

I love sewing bee. The be made scones with cheese, onion, caraway and rye flour. They are ridiculously soft and crumbly ( possibly because still warm) but so delicious

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 25/04/2020 12:10

I love sewing bee too though I can't seem anymore.
£118 Sainsbury's but £40 of that on clothes

SnugglySnerd · 25/04/2020 13:20

I love sewing bee too even though my own sewing skills extend to sewing on a button!

I have tidied our hallway. I have optimistically washed all the winter coats so they can be stored for summer so expect a freezing cold snap next week Grin I have now started on our bedroom. I had 3 bags sitting there for the charity shop bit obviously they are all closed. I have out the bags in the car for now. Since we can't go anywhere we might as well use it for something! About to tackle the Corner of Doom.

We found 3 jars of marmalade in the kitchen cupboard. I think 2 were xmas gifts. Dh and the dcs are making a marmalade cake to use some of it up. I love marmalade cake, hopefully some of it will make it into the oven without the dcs eating it all first!

Mmmm marmalade cake.

So stbexh who is today homeschooling ds for the first time has basically said I'm not doing enough with him/trying he's enough. I am trying not to contemplate murder although I am feeling very murderous.

Garden mowed and watered, the large watering can I ordered arrived but it's two small ones, le sigh. Bathroom cleaned. Baking cupboard cleaned and reorganised. Chicken pie filling made and put in the freezer with most of yesterday's left over roast, I've left some in the fridge for sandwiches. Pilates done.
