Welcome Ive we're very friendly here

Ivegotnothing · 26/01/2020 17:26

Thank you north. Very kind.

Happierwithouthim · 26/01/2020 17:38

I thought you were with ptsb as well Tayto it's whatever works isn't it, I used to have a rabodirect account for everything online access only & could only retrieve money mon to fri it was great.
I don't know if h will contribute to legal separation or not but I need it for mortgage so I've not got much choice but to proceed

Surely that can't count against you on life insurance policy?

Ivegotnothing I've had dc & cat & dog for company today not even a checkout lady but I like my own company Grin

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 26/01/2020 17:45

Evening all and welcome Ive.

Did some real life shopping today.
Lidl £27.30 got quite a lot for that, shelf stable stuff, enough cereal to last two weeks and needed to get some basics in for baking, (sweet and savoury) oh and cat food.
Morrisons £30.77, again got quite a bit for that, 6 coconut milks as they were 3 for £3.00 and today was the last day of the offer. Also got fresh fruit and veg and some fresh soup mixes that were reduced, 30p each! I got two, so that's my lunches sorted for the week.

Happierwithouthim · 26/01/2020 17:48

Sounds like you did well curvy

northender · 26/01/2020 17:49

Sea I wouldn't stress, just have the potty very visible and she'll join in when she's ready. I remember it being easier if I had a few days at home where I could make a proper concerted effort, but it's not easy when you're working.
I've been doing good frugal things today. Damson gin has been bottled and the gin soaked damsons that remain have had the stones removed. Half have gone into a tea bread and half are going to go into an apple & damson crumble (to be eaten when neither of us has to drive!!)
Calendar is up to date, meal plan done & shopping list made for tomorrow.
This weekend has been very quiet which has made a nice change.
I have found today tough though as ds had a bit of a flare of his CFS after cricket training (1st session of the year). He gets reactive hypoglycaemia when he trains too intensively and hasn't properly got his head round managing it and being prepared yet, so didn't have water & food with him & came out anxious, pale, sweaty and feeling rough. He's very independent & doesn't really want me reminding him of things all the time & it's just so hard to watch. I can see improvements but it's just so hard. Sorry to moan, but it helps sometimes!

Mrsmadevans · 26/01/2020 17:52

@Taytocrisps
'A very warm welcome to all the new posters. Mrsmadevans I think I know you from the Christmas countdown threads. I lurk there sometimes. '
That is so kind of you to say that thank you m'dear Smile
Do me a huge favour and join in with us m'dear , the posters are just like here, so friendly and kind Flowers Smile

Wolfcub · 26/01/2020 17:54

Welcome Ive and all other new frugaleers that I've missed.

North if he won't consent to your nagging could you encourage him to put reminders in his phone?

Tayto if they refuse I'd try other companies or if necessary an insurance broker. H was impossible to Life insurer and had no life insurance for years. We did have success with an RBS associated firm and then AIG life.

Welcome I’ve , come and chat to us Smile

We have backed down on potty training for now. She stays dry for long periods (good) and is interested in books about potties /pants (good) but really scared of the potty and also doesn’t seem to know when she is about to wee (bad). She’s had 3 wee accidents today and seemed to be getting more stressed and clingy as the day progressed so I’ve put her back in a nappy. She cheered up a lot after that.

Kids were very happy with roast chicken dinner and caramel Shortbread. I tried to resist it for diet reasons but ended up cracking and eating half a piece 😋. Shortbread was a bit thicker than I’d have liked but the caramel was the best I’ve made, I reckon.

I’ve got a paper to write tonight so I’m going to be up into the wee small hours. It’s a depressing way to end a weekend tbh. Before I do that I have to order bathroom tiles as the ones I like are 15% off but the deal expires soon. Finally taking the plunge, work is commencing mid-Feb!

Bornlazy · 26/01/2020 19:12

North could you buy him some of the recovery gels to put in his bag to be used if he forgets to take anything else with him? It must be hard to take a step back when you are naturally concerned.

Welcome Ive

em good luck tomorrow - your time off has flown by.

Fearofawelshplanet · 26/01/2020 19:35

Well done I've...will keep my eye out for that
Well done Mrsmadevans, it really does pay to check around with car insurance..
Huge declutter, re-organise and store stuff ready to move eventually... the electric screw driver ran out i used it to make that much stuff....glorious NSD and sort house out day!

Wolfcub · 26/01/2020 20:01

SnugglySnerd · 26/01/2020 20:02

Welcome Ive!

I made amazing toads in the hole today - 1 meat and 1 smaller veggie one (that was was all for me!). They rose so well. Dh was eyeing up leftovers for his lunch tomorrow but there was nothing left!

I feel like I'm getting a cold. Would really like some chocolate. We don't have any.

Mrsmadevans · 26/01/2020 20:51

Welcome @Ivegotnothing Smile
Thank you @Fearofawelshplanet l was well pleased Smile
You HAVE been mega busy well done m'dear Smile

maddenlightfoot · 26/01/2020 21:11

Evening all! Just watched Call the Midwife - always makes me feel lovely and Sunday-ish (just a shame Mondays come along to spoil a perfectly good Sunday 😂)

Went out for a lovely pub roast today. It was delicious and, because the children were all being tame (unheard of!), rather leisurely as well. And to top it off, lovely PILs paid as they'd sold their car this morning and were feeling flush and celebratory!

Not a nsd though as had to pay £100 to have some window locks changed and a new bottom panel for outback door as the old cat flap was broken and we kept getting raided by neighbourhood cats 😂.

Welcome I've - it is a lovely place to come and chat!

BuddhaAtSea · 26/01/2020 21:14

Meant to be an NSD but I just bought some frontline and dentral for the mop, £30. Should get 3% back through Quidco though.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 26/01/2020 21:24

Welcome newbies 😊

We went to see Little Women, I enjoyed it and shed a little tear at the sad bit 😥 with my voucher and lying about dds age I managed to get £6.50 off the bill but as it was odeon it still cost £15 🙄 Took our own snacks obviously though 😉

Have booked bowling for dds bday, she is going to take 3 friends bowling and then have a MacDs for lunch, bowling was £45 and I'll budget £40 for lunch.

Good luck for your first day back tomorrow em.

Hope you're boy is okay north, kids are always a worry no matter what their age.

Sounds sensible to leave it for now seacow no point pushing her before she's ready.

Sending you virtual 🍫 snuggly

Ivegotnothing · 26/01/2020 21:46

Thanks everyone. I now have an urge to make caramel shortbread.
Another fan of Call The Midwife here, but always record and watch on Monday nights as DH has back to back viewing on a Sunday (not against watching the lovely new Magnum though Grin )

BuddhaAtSea · 26/01/2020 21:53

@Girliefriendlikespuppies do you have a BlueLightCard? You get a hefty discount using it!

ChristmasSeacow · 26/01/2020 23:02

Do it I’ve Wink . I think it’s a frugal win really as it’s never cheap to buy - unlike cakes, where it can work out more expensive (though nicer) to home make, caramel shortbread is always much cheaper to make at home! Though I do end up with 16 big bits, which I probably wouldn't ever actually buy. hmmm. To make sure I don’t eat it in the middle of the night (I’ll be working for a few more hours at least, so I’ll be fed up, but still need to shift some timber so mustn’t eat it!) I’ve told DH to take it upstairs to bed with him. He gave me this look —> Hmm

Good luck tomorrow Em. At least if Dh is off with the kids you won’t be trying to get everyone out of the house first thing on Day 1, that’ll ease you in a bit more!

Accidentalaccountant · 27/01/2020 06:21

Good luck Em. Weekend away not too spendy.
Having some more work done on the house this week.💰💰💰

ememem84 · 27/01/2020 06:24

Thanks guys!! Dd slept through last night (first time in around a week as she has a cough still...) she’s up now coughing but it’s getting up time. Dh isn’t too impressed that he’s up too but pointed out that I didn’t get a lie in (as in I didn’t stay asleep) any of the days I was off.

Anyway. I’m getting the bus this morning as dh needs the car and it just makes things a bit easier. Don’t have to panic about getting in early etc.

I’ll update later but suspect it’ll be nsd.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/01/2020 06:30

Good luck today em.
Welcome I've and other new people.
Mmm caramel shortbread. It does freeze well sea.
We had veggie haggis for dinner. I used up a couple of banana into cake, cheese into scones.
£1 on some concealer as DD pinched mine. Trying revolution as my max factor one was out of stock. £2 points used.

Oh dear North. It's so hard to watch but he will figure it out.

CTM here too after Dr who which I'm sorry I'm finding a bit rubbish.

maddenlightfoot · 27/01/2020 06:41

Enjoy your first day back em. It's a new chapter as a working mummy of two. Sounds like you're getting the balance right already with dh - yes he should be getting up!! (In fact, so should I. Alarm went off 20 mins ago and I'm still not out of bed)

Wolfcub · 27/01/2020 07:03

Have a good first day back Em. It will be Thursday evening before you know it. Thanks
