That's a relief, Unescorted.

Pleased first day went well, Em.

Nsd planned.

Bornlazy · 28/01/2020 07:21

Great news Unescorted that’s a big relief for you.

Tayto that’s terrible. You must be one of millions of people who have gone through the same thing. My friend was refused insurance once and she thought it was down to a heart condition she’d been diagnosed with but no it turned out it was due to the anxiety/depression she’d developed as a result of said condition 😤

Forecast here is for snow, but thankfully none yet as I hate driving in it and have to go out today.

Nsd yesterday and hopefully a lsd today.

LaneBoy · 28/01/2020 08:02

Great news unescorted!

Ugh tayto that is really awful about the ADs.

Forgot other spends yesterday, £25 to a friend via selling group, building toy for Cagletini

Ivegotnothing · 28/01/2020 08:26

Good morning everyone. There seems to be lots of snow about, but not here yet, although it was crispy and frosty when I went out with the dog.
I’m also interested in the craft thread, another crafter here...but isn’t it hard to fit it all in!
I make Mary Berry’s flapjack, it’s very easy, just butter (I use stork), Demerara and golden syrup melted in a pan, stir in oats and put in a tray in the oven for 30mins. I can look up the measurements if you’d like.
I almost had a nsd yesterday, but then had to order hair dye, so £14. Pay day on Friday, so I’ll try not to get carried away until then!
I also can’t believe about the insurance, it feels like discrimination!

Laska2Meryls · 28/01/2020 09:45

They will do anything they can to get out of paying insurance ...I even wonder sometimes if travel insurance is worth it, but then I think of hospital fees / repatriation costs so I buy it .. but I am pretty sure that companies would wriggle out of paying out on that if they could . I mean having had anti depressants a few years ago means you re very likely to be higher risk of breaking a leg Hmm

unescorted fantastic news ! but what an utter palaver.. It can only be civil service..

Yesterday I did very little it seems but eat.. I really must not make those potatoes again . ! They were cheap though.... !!

Mrsmadevans · 28/01/2020 10:03

Morning everyone 😀
No snow here but....
Beautiful day, blue skies, sun shining, it's lovely 🌞💙
Going to Cardiff to view Dd2 house she wants to buy 🙄 so l think it will be a spenny day for us 😁 giving her a helping hand otherwise she couldn't afford to buy
@ChristmasSeacow @lve
the thread I go on is lovely. It's general chat not just Christmas, not just crafts, the girls on there do lovely crafts, they they are very kind and nice just like here 🤗
Hope you manage to keep going today @Sea it sounds really exhausting for you 💐

Fearofawelshplanet · 28/01/2020 10:06

Snow Envy

Had 3.5 hours sleep and feel shocking. Still plugging away. The whole of this week is so awful, I am wishing my life away!

Have a packed lunch but currently sat in Costa as no desk at not-usual workplace between meetings. So I can’t eat my lunch and I am starving! Argh!

Laska2Meryls · 28/01/2020 14:22

Wheres it snowing? rainy down here .. IOW

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 28/01/2020 14:40

Unescorted, that is brilliant news!

Unexpected day off today, dd2 is poorly, so a NSD.

Happierwithouthim · 28/01/2020 15:23

Yesterday was a NSD but I did spend at 1am, bf ended up in a&e with a bad chest infection and I spent €8 on carpark, €1.10 on a bar of choc for him and €1.50 on a bottle of fanta for him.

Then this morning, the knock on expenses were €6 on junk food for me to combat the tiredness Hmm but have put away half of it for another day because it's not going to solve anything!

tayto I'm sorry to hear that's the case, hopefully your own gp's report is more positive and life insurance can be granted quickly.

We pay huge life insurance because h was smoking 40 a day just before we got mortgage and his age and weight were an issue too, think about €70 a month goes on this, my own life insurance for next mortgage will be €10!

For those who are not already bored of my house buying dilemma - house on the market for €140k offered €125 and was turned down outright, then increased my offer after a couple of weeks to halfway between that and asking price €132,500, the owners had to meet and discuss their options, they've come back saying they appreciate that I've already increased my offer but they'd sell for €135k HmmConfused

Sea I have no idea how you keep going. You are like superwoman. I really hope that the new person lightens your load a bit as you deserve a break. I bet when people think of the nhs they don’t ever imagine people like you working behind the scenes till two in the morning. I know I certainly didn’t. 🧁🍫 to keep you going.

Spent £9.85 in local shop on bread, milk, coffee and snacks. No other spends planned.

I have had a very productive day so far: - one bed changed, three washings done, whole house tidied, hoovered, mopped and dusted. Dinner is almost ready, just need to cook the pasta for spaghetti bolognese. Still need to match hundreds of pairs of socks 😬 my least favourite job.

CurlsandCurves · 28/01/2020 16:52

Found you all!

@ememem84 glad your first day back went well.

@ChristmasSeacow your workload at the moment sounds insane! Hope this new person takes the pressure off.

It was my birthday yesterday. Got some lovely gin related bits from my bro and sil. DH and I don’t do presents but we got the kids in bed early and had a takeaway followed by Cold Feet. My folks got me a voucher for my beauty salon so I’ve just had fingers and toes done for free!

DH has just brought his newly repaired van home, yay!
And I’ve just had an email to say that my washing machine is thankfully not affected by the Whirlpool/Hotpoint recall. So that’s a relief.

SnugglySnerd · 28/01/2020 19:36

Rubbish about the insurance Tayto. They really do find excuses don't they?

Happy birthday Curls, hope you are having a lovely day.

Is it really only Tuesday? I feel more like Thursday levels of tiredness. Things seem to keep going wrong lately, it's getting me down. Nothing major, just lots of little stressful things added together. I wish there was an extra day in the week for life admin sometimes so we could get things sorted out properly instead of it always being a rush to do everything.

Nsd though, and payday. Hooray!

Unescorted · 28/01/2020 19:42

Happy Birthday Curls.

Sea you know that they will keep asking you to do more and more until you break. I learnt the hard way that No is perfect legitimate in the work place. As an organisation we went through a period of working insane hours to keep the wheels on until we got to a point that no one was coping so collectively we made a decision to get the balance right. Now if some one is working really long hours people are encouraged to go home and others in the team offer to pick up the slack. No fuss is made it is just the way it is.

We had snow this morning too... I nearly stayed at home but realised I was doing site visits so wrapped up warm. I nearly overheated on the train.

Our loan dog's owner is in China.... we may have the hound for longer than expected. I am running out of poo bags …. that will be tomorrows spend.

Wolfcub · 28/01/2020 19:47

Snuggly I know what you mean about only Tuesday. I wished someone a good weekend today. Sooo knackered really tough week at work. I'm already covering two roles and a colleague has just texted to tell me my boss is giving me a third big piece of work to do which is time sensitive. I'm already working over my hours every week and have been for over 6 months. Not sure how I can cope. Plus he hasn't had the decency to tell me about it but apparently the rest of the office know AngryAngryAngryAngrySad

Bloody hell, Wolf, that sounds stressful.

Happy belated birthday Curls
Get well soon Curvy dd
Fab job news unescorted what a relief!
Good luck with your application wolf
Ive that Mary Berry flapjack recipe is the one I use, but with less fat. I'm going to experiment adding nuts & seeds.
Tayto being penalised for helping yourself really winds me up. Slightly different, but a part of the service I run is exercise/education programmes for people with chronic lung disease. It helps them to self-manage more effectively & grow in confidence (12 sessions over 6 weeks). A lady recently had to take unpaid leave from her job with one of the big supermarkets to attend. It really gives me the rage.

One of my habits to get into this year is doing my quilting more regularly & getting things finished.
No spends today. Hard gym session tonight.
I'm trying not to mention our upcoming holiday much on here, as it's not very frugal, but less than 3 weeks to go and I am getting very excited!!
Work is rubbish here too, roll on the weekend....
