£60 + £52 DC dinner money for the half term. No other spends as not been out

MummySharn · 24/02/2020 16:37

Thanks for the links unescorted

I’m happy (selfishly) that I’m not the only one with rain. It cleared up for a bit but has gone grey again.

mrs your DM is very lucky to have you

I spent £1 today for toddler club, and £2 in the shop for after nursery treats for DD

ememem84 · 24/02/2020 17:34

Rain here too. My freshly washed hair this morning has turned into a pile of frizz.

Nsd. Had appraisal this afternoon during which I requested more time off next year so we can go to nz. Fingers crossed.

Accidentalaccountant · 24/02/2020 18:37

NSD yeah. Also did a freezer audit. Reckon I could survive the apocalypse. Well as long as we can keep electricity.😁

Fearofawelshplanet · 24/02/2020 18:52

Thank you - life, happier, wolf, unescorted, mumbasa and anyone else if i have misses you out Star

NSD...

SnugglySnerd · 24/02/2020 19:31

I had to do gate duty in all that rain this morning. I have looked bedraggled all day!

Otherwise everyone here had a good first day back I think. I have a LOT of work to do. Just psyching myself up for it...

Mumbassa2 · 24/02/2020 19:35

You’re so kind to your DM mrs

Thank you for all the links unescorted

I hope your DD is feeling better today girlie

It rained most of the day here sharn, you aren’t the only one without snow don’t worry😂

NSD here!

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 24/02/2020 20:13

I’m in the North visiting my Mum this week. I arrived to snow this lunchtime, and snowmen. Very pretty. DP has stayed home with the cat. I corrupted Mum with a glass of wine this afternoon, we were tippling away when the Sainsbury’s delivery man came.
Tomorrow my best friend is coming to stay.I can’t wait, she is very good company and Mum likes her very much. I have to do another shop for her as she is lacto, gluten and nightshade intolerant. As it’s Shrove Tuesday tomorrow I’m planning to make her pancakes with rice flour. If they are nice, the rest of the batter will become Yorkshire puddings.
Still have not decided whether to do something for Lent. I read about a chap who gave up grumbling/ complaining for Lent but made the mistake of telling his colleagues who thought it funny and made game of him. Who else is having pancakes?

maddenlightfoot · 24/02/2020 20:36

Duchess I heartily approve of battening down the hatches with a little Monday afternoon tipple 🤩

We are having pancakes! As I'm trying to use everything up this week (very lenty and frugal!), I've been researching pancake recipes using yoghurt rather than milk (it's a thing!) and as I have a tin of evaporated milk in the cupboard I'm looking at recipes to make caramel sauce - anyone tried it?

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 24/02/2020 20:48

@maddenlightfoot, I can’t give you the recipe as I’m not at home but Google Mary Berry’s caramel sauce, it’s the best ever. I’m sure pancakes with yogurt would be nice. I have used fruit yog in scones instead of milk before and they were good.

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/02/2020 20:50

Pancakes here but only for 2 of us. Not sure what I will give up for Lent. Maybe chocolate. But the protein bars I have are chocolate. Hhhmmm

Enjoy your time up here with us duchess.

Unescorted · 24/02/2020 21:00

I may have not mentioned pancakes to my lot.... I have the ingredients, just not the inclination.

I have just been filling in the touch test survey. Apparently I like being touched, just not when I am going to sleep. DH is away so I will sleep well tonight. To be fair he knows I like the bed to myself, so stays away until I am asleep which is all of about 30 seconds.

SnugglySnerd · 24/02/2020 21:21

I love pancakes! So do the dcs. We have nothing to put on them though as I haven't done the shopping yet. Will get something on the way home from work tomorrow.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 24/02/2020 22:16

Sorry Fear, but happy birthday for yesterday.
Our wifi has been a bit patchy.
Busy first day back at work, was lovely to see all the children back, but lots of work to be done!
Spent about £18 today on a top up shop, but also included shampoo, conditioner and body wash, so not to bad, I guess.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 24/02/2020 23:15

We love pancakes as well, has to be sugar and lemon on them!!

Am jealous though of you that have snow ⛄️ we've had rain rain and more rain here, am sick of it!!

Dd is still poorly, temp up this evening and was all shivery so said she can have tomorrow off school. Will try and get her down the drs in between trying to work!

NSD.

I have £0 until payday on Friday! Will have to go overdrawn as need petrol, in theory no other spends planned.

Mumbassa2 · 25/02/2020 06:15

We love pancakes here too, syrup is my kids’ favourite topping

ememem84 · 25/02/2020 06:16

Yay pancake day!!

I’m giving up social media (Facebook insta snap chat.) my phone classes mn as social media too although I’m not convinced.

We made a team decision yesterday too at work. We’re giving up sugar. So no biscuits sweets chocolate cake. No sugar in tea or coffee. No fizzy drinks. That’s where I do most of my sugary snacking. So it’ll be tough. But doable I think. shame there was an abundance of cake yesterday

MummySharn · 25/02/2020 06:18

Morning all! I’m giving up chocolate for lent, I’m not sure how well I’ll do as it’s my kryptonite

Happierwithouthim · 25/02/2020 06:49

Madden it's Galway, I've signed up for the updates on what's happening there so hopefully will take dc to something too.

€151.46 Dunnes Stores( used 3 vouchers so €181.46 was grand total) last Shop was 12 days ago.
€20 earned from Facebook sales, €105, going to buy myself a stand mixer, think the kenwood chefette, mixer can be used as hand mixer also.
€16.19 centra on lunch for myself au pair & my cousin that helped out yesterday.
€50.19 filling van I borrowed with diesel, €200 to repair damage done to it, if it's less I'll get it back.

Happierwithouthim · 25/02/2020 06:51

I'll also be using less social media but not by choice, don't think I'll be able to get internet where I'm renting, there's zero phone reception there for any network.

Mrsmadevans · 25/02/2020 16:33

Afternoon everyone Smile
Thank you all for the kind things you have said re my Mum Blush
Poor Bob. He tried to give me £100 yesterday . I said to him what an earth is that 4 ? He said because you've been very good in ferrying your Mum up and down to me. Ahh bless him. I said no, no, take my Mum and you out for a nice meal. I can't take money off him for taking my Mum about but l thought how lovely that was of him and I felt sorry for him. I don't know why. I suppose it's because he has his pride.
Went to Cwmbran, got some food shopping from Lidl £10 & Morrisons £12. Had a skirt for my Mum from Morrisons for £4 from £14 so she will be pleased Smile
Have done pancakes, Dh couldn't wait and ate the lot so l had to make more Grin
Hope everyone is having a good day , enjoy your pancakes Smile

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/02/2020 17:18

Ah Bob sound like a real gent.

Nsd here woop woop

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 25/02/2020 18:20

We had pancakes for breakfast, was yummy.
I'm not actually religious but I always give up something for lent, so this time I'm giving up all unhealthy snacks, which will be challenging with the staff room!
It will make me plan better though!

Lovemaltesers · 25/02/2020 18:34

I bought one of those pancake mixes but it didn’t work. I seem unable to make pancakes. So unfrugal trip to Tesco to buy ready made ones.

My assignment passed so my course is now finished. Woo!

And, I got an interview next week. I’m terrified! My “for dummies” book arrived so I have lots to read up on now!

Happierwithouthim · 25/02/2020 18:43

Bob sounds great

Today I spent €69.98 on a Kenwood Chefette HM680 money from Facebook sales. H took his mother's ancient kenwood hand mixer even though he'll never use it so I 'needed' something. I've got hers/his ex wife's rotary hand beater though Wink
This is a hand mixer that sits on a stand and bowl rotates so it's enough for the amount of baking I do!

€9 at dump again & will be €4.50 if I go tomo, I'm thinking I will just so I'm not transporting rubbish to rented house. Last night in marital home tonight.
