Iove I make pancakes every Friday, picked up a mix from Lidl so dc could make their own tonight & almost failed until I realised it's a fluffy mix Wink

Fluffy if you're lurking we miss you and lonely & need/jam & collie & all the other l regulars whose names escape me right now

Happierwithouthim · 25/02/2020 18:48

I don't usually give up something for lent but pondering it tonight

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 25/02/2020 18:48

Love pancakes you whisk two eggs with 4oz of flour and then slowly add 200mls of milk until you have runny batter.

Heat a pan, add little bit of butter and a splodge of mix and fry!

We've had pancakes for lunch and might have them again for dinner 😁

Took dd to the drs, she does have a chest infection and is now on a course of antibiotics. Kept her off school today and will probably keep her off again tomorrow.

Spent 45p on cough sweets for her.

Happierwithouthim · 25/02/2020 18:48

Could I give up chips? I don't eat potatoes so would be limited to rice or pasta then, maybe I could allow sweet potato fries?

ememem84 · 25/02/2020 19:22

£13 on bikini wax. Suprise bikini wax. I had an apt for eyelashes and eyebrow tint (£19.50 but had bought a voucher) Id forgotten that at my last nail apt I’d asked to move bikini to next apt so it was a bit of a suprise when my lady said we were doing it too!!

Dd has a wicked bad nappy rash poor baby. Gave her a nice bath with lavender oil. Have put a thin layer of metanium cream on. That’s about all I can do tonight.

Mrsmadevans · 25/02/2020 19:29

I don't do anything for Lent either and l know l couldn't give up the net or social media to save my life!

ememem84 · 25/02/2020 19:36

@mrsmadevans I think I’ll struggle if I’m honest. I’m used to just flicking through Fb or insta even im bored.

Taytocrisps · 25/02/2020 20:20

Sorry to post and run but it's a busy night. Here's two photos of DCat1. The fishing rod toy has been a really big hit. It originally had a few feathers attached but he's pulled them all off.

@ememem84 can you possibly give up something else instead ? Smile
@Tayto what happened to the feathers ? Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/02/2020 21:18

Ah cute. Thanks tayto

Fearofawelshplanet · 25/02/2020 21:31

Thanks curvy! NSD

ememem84 · 25/02/2020 21:39

@Mrsmadevans I could. But then it wouldn’t be so challenging. Isn’t it meant to be a sacrifice? That said should giving up social media be a sacrifice? It’ll be good for my mental health. I’m doing it.

Keeping mn though.

So tired here today. Gym after work was tough tough tough. My trainer worked me hard. But she’s seeing progress. Yay.

Outfit chosen for tomorrow. Tweed skirt snuggly slouchy black jumper. Tights and boots. Either black suede slouchy ones, tan ankle ones or black/tan riding boots.

Bags packed. Dh has done a food shop although “silly sea” is stopping things coming in.

Back from a truly amazing week in Tobago. There were ups & downs, ds had bad tonsillitis again so we spent half a day in a Tobago walk in health centre, I bumped the car we had hired, it rained at least once every day, but it was still the best holiday we have ever had. Not frugal at all, but so worth it!
Came back down to earth with a bump yesterday & felt so cold. Back to work today, no spends, but quite big spends on a big grocery shop yesterday. Need to get back to frugal ways & quick.
Hope everyone on here is okay, will read back and catch up a bit later.

@nothender looks awful. What a shithole. How on earth did you cope?!?! Grin

So glad you had a nice time (tonsillitis aside - hope ds is feeling better) x

Mrsmadevans · 25/02/2020 21:55

@ememem84 ahh that's alright then if you are keeping MN ignore me Grin
@northender hope your Ds is fine now and your hols looked beautiful Smile fancy coming back to this weather .

maddenlightfoot · 25/02/2020 22:03

Wow! Just wow north (especially that second picture!). This is why we watch the pennies - so that we can enjoy these moments in life where we can let loose guilt free!

It's been a nsd for me 🙌🙌. Yoghurt pancakes and caramel sauce were both a success. Will need milk tomorrow.

northender · 25/02/2020 23:07

madden I absolutely agree with that. Until now all our family holidays have been in the UK or France/Spain on the ferry. Fantastic times, all of them. With the DC 18 & 15 now it was the right time to do it & they appreciated it so much.
I made Scotch pancakes here for breakfast & DD made crepey ones for after tea tonight. Did was at his friend's & so is just making a batch now for himself.
He is feeling much better, finishes the antibiotics tomorrow. Hopefully he will stay well for a while now & get through his exams.

ChristmasSeacow · 25/02/2020 23:26

Delurked for North - a Trinidad Motmot, if I’m not mistaken! What a handsome fella. So glad you had a wonderful time (tonsillitis excepted) - I think I’ve been to those same waterfalls! Such a beautiful country. Was the cricket good too? I don’t understand cricket though, more interested in the birds really Wink

Not frugal here. I am hanging my head in shame. Half term has been very trying with cabin fever kids. So difficult when I can’t take both kids out by myself, and there’s no joy in the garden even. I have been googling sunny destinations for next feb half term ConfusedGrin.

Bathroom work slightly delayed but starting on Monday now. £££££££££££££££

Work still crazy busy too, but I’m only having 1-2 stupid late nights pw at the mo, which is more tolerable. Also trying to get some knitting in whenever I can to relax and thus neglecting cooking and housework

I also think Bob sounds lovely, btw Smile

Happierwithouthim · 26/02/2020 06:29

This & chips are my Lenten campaign

Just cancelled prime membership & will be refunded the £7.99 I don't use it

Getting up to go to work for an hour #idontwantto Grin

North that looks absolutely beautiful

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/02/2020 07:52

Pleased overall the holiday was good North.
Waves at sea
I'm giving my family a rocket for Lent tonight. Too much screen time and too little effort. I'm keeping mn too but not in sight of dc
That's a nice idea happier. Happy moving day. X

Happierwithouthim · 26/02/2020 08:44

Think it'll be mote like 40 days 40 boxes decluttered but same idea

North photos are fab hope it was a holiday ye will treasure memories of forever, pity it we marred by little tip and ds's illness

In an effort to lighten the atmosphere last night I told dc about our summer holiday

I'm also tempted by one parent holiday Christmas trip to Legoland, will check out price of flights when at work tomo conscious that buying a house is main priority this year.

Happierwithouthim · 26/02/2020 08:45

Thanks life and everyone here who's been supportive to me in the two years since my separation

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 26/02/2020 09:40

Wow North absolutely beautiful!! I'm hoping I can save enough to take dd abroad after her GCSEs in a couple of years.

Nice to see you seacow Feb half term is always a bit rubbish as the weather is usually shit and everyone is skint!!

Happier I've done a few single parent holidays over the years and we always enjoyed them.

Day off today, dd still off as chest sounds terrible. Plan to do some tidying up and maybe go and get some sea air to help dds chest!! It's stopped raining at least...
