Hi Madden I've been thinking the same about half terms, I need a budget for the ones when I am at home with ds not just the ones where I use holiday schemes. This week has been spensie and we've hardly done anything but even an extra person for lunches every day adds up

Went to a garden today, nice brief stroll and we are members so free. Had a £5 coffee and cake voucher so the intention was to have cuppas and cakes as a treat which would have been about £15 all in. Ds was (I suppose predictably) starving and not easily distracted so we ended up with sandwiches, cuppas and cakes. Plus takeaway scones for tomorrow- £30 all in (35 if you count the voucher).

£12 yesterday for a stocking filler present for mums birthday as she won't get her main present until June and it's not something she can open

Ds going to h's again tomorrow. Whilst he had been remorseful today my level of dread is high

Thank you @MummySharn it's wonderful to see her happy , she has been so upset. Some days she just wanted to join Dad bless her.
Went to Bob's to drop Mum off and he had cleaned his windows and hoovered up for us to put his nets back up and we couldn't do them because we didn't realise there were no hooks up for them and we didn't have them on us Hmm .Poor thing was so disappointed . I promised him we will do them on Monday for him though. I did feel bad bless him.

maddenlightfoot · 21/02/2020 18:16

Exactly wolf! Omg the amount of times I've thought we'd just share a pot of tea when out but somehow we end up buying ALL the food. I could have written your day out x100

And thanks Mrs. Also love Bob - how gorgeous!

Lovemaltesers · 21/02/2020 18:32

Awww, that’s lovely about your mum and Bob mrs. I always read your posts about you caring for your mum and think how lovely you are.

Spendy today
£40 Clarks - shoes just for DD1 so cheaper than for both DC
£1.95 Lidl
£15ish in McDonald’s
£2.45 on a “dummies guide” from eBay. For me!

My mum has just emailed me to say she’s been told she has diabetic maculopathy. Googling is scary at the potential of losing her sight.

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/02/2020 18:35

Ah DM and Bob sound fabulous. Good for your DM.

That's us wolf plan tea and cake then my highly neglected and starving children spot the menu. Fgs.

£69 pizza hut but got that back from dmil. £12 for a weeks parking, £7 Sainsbury's,. Need to food shop and plan.

Yy to unbudgeted costs. Get me every time

Lovemaltesers · 21/02/2020 19:08

Flowers wolf

In frugal news, DP has got down a load of his treasure tat from the loft to sell on eBay. Bad news, lounge is full of it.

Written 4 out of 5 questions for my assignment. So now can get DP to sell my course book on eBay too.

Unescorted · 21/02/2020 19:38

Curvy happy birthday to your DS.

A fortune could be made selling sunglasses that cut out the dazzling glare of children's begging eyes. Can you imagine if you were immune to the soft focus big eyes and head tilt that that causes you to tip your purse upside down in a café / clothes shop.

I buy all sorts for just in case.... although I am getting into the habit of dropping in on Co-op and Morrisons when they are doing their yellow stickers. That limits the spend but not the randomness.

Long day at work today... that is the problem with wfh days I get up start at 6 and then feel bad if I finish earlier than I would normally. And if I get up for lunch or to make a cuppa the guilt comes over in waves. I have earnt my glass of wine....

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/02/2020 19:40

I'm a just in case type too. And a feeder.

Yeah it's Friday. Back to work next week. Booo. Interview changed to week after as well after I spent all afternoon writing a presentation.

Unescorted · 21/02/2020 19:56

life that is mean changing your interview date. Although you get another week to practice the presentaiton

Happierwithouthim · 21/02/2020 20:11

€8.80 in what will be our local shop when I buy house on 2 hot chocs & lots of sweets for dc, milky bar for me. There's will come out of pocket money.

Wolfcub · 21/02/2020 20:13

That is highly annoying Life. A week to practice and hone though as Unescorted says

Hey wolf how is the Ark building going your side of the hill? You seem to have got it worse than us.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 21/02/2020 21:16

Thank you all for the Birthday wishes for ds2.
He was happy that he got money, he has spent some of it already on some xbox games.
Spent £13 on take away.

Wolfcub · 21/02/2020 21:21

Happy birthday Curvy's ds.

Unescorted no ark needed yet thank goodness. Lots of work done to clear waterways that the council have failed to do. Hoping water levels stay lower this weekend otherwise I'll be very on edge. Didn't sleep a wink last Saturday as I was up checking water levels every 45 mins. Flood recovery company coming to Chuck things out this coming week and start drying out

OP posts:
Unescorted · 21/02/2020 23:38

I was in Kendal earlier this week and it is so near flooding again. It is bonkers. There were many stories of people in the Welsh Valleys who have never flooded before & didn't have any insurance. I don't normally will rain this way but for your sake I hope it falls here where we have a way to go,

ememem84 · 22/02/2020 07:53

Payday yesterday! Wahoooooo!! First one since October! Nice to have money coming in again.

Switched my accounts to premier ones #fancy

Went to see the bank this week as dh has an idea of getting an apartment as a investment property. I’m not convinced although the numbers do seem to stack up.

Happierwithouthim · 22/02/2020 08:06

£21 on lookfantastic.com on color wow dream filter treatment used a 20% discount code, hoping this will help me get more time out of my hair colour. It's meant to take away the minerals deposited by hard water. A local hairdresser offers it for €5 per blow dry and shows before & after pics. My hair has gone a bit brassy so hoping it'll help with that.

I'm on holidays now to move house. Decided not to set alarm for first day as a treat to myself Grin

Unescorted · 22/02/2020 09:08

Happier good luck with the move.

I have started embracing the grey & doing a weekly wash with a purple shampoo. I have to be careful not to give myself a blue rinse effect.

em first pay cheque after maternity feeling should be bottled and used as an anti depressant.

I had plans to get out of bed...but they have fallen by the wayside. I do need to go shopping for food, not least to get cake makings for number one child's 18th on Wednesday.

Happierwithouthim · 22/02/2020 09:33

18 wow enscorted you'll be the owner of a fully fledged adult soon!

This house move is just a temporary stopgap until my house purchase goes through so not as exciting as next one will be Grin

Enjoy first pay em

Happierwithouthim · 22/02/2020 09:38

Curry for ds in slow cooker, my dinner is a portion of meatballs made earlier in the week & there's a chicken fillet left for dd to have too.
Have pushed grocery shop out until Monday by swapping vouchers with friend at work, that'll be 12 days & just bought eggs & a sliced pan in the interim

Wolfcub · 22/02/2020 09:55

Wow Unescorted 18. Eek. Very exciting and scary all at the same time

Em yay for pay cheque. Don't want to be a downer on the investment property but just want to say make sure that any paperwork clearly reflects any money you put in yourself and, perhaps more importantly any time you personally spend managing the property to bring in income. I'd also be setting ground rules about who will do what re property management as I think often these things can become wife-work

Happier good luck with the packing

Bread in the bread maker to avoid a supermarket trip. Ds dropped off with h. Need to clean things before the rugby. Should be doing competencies but I haven't got the fear yet which makes doing the work hard. I've done three outlines. Two of which I think are good. I'll need five but don't know what the comps in the ad will be yet - hence missing the fear element

OP posts:
maddenlightfoot · 22/02/2020 11:02

Why is it that the fear is so motivating wolf? I feel the same about much in life - takes me back to uni all-nighters 😂

Wow unescorted! 18! What's planned celebration wise?

I'm on the train heading to London for a hen-do. Realise I haven't taken the train for years (well, since having dts - much calmer for everyone when strapped into car seats for journeys). I'm excitedly drinking coffee and eating pastries whilst reading my book but omg!!! £8 in Starbucks 😱 (I'm not used to train station prices!)

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/02/2020 11:05

Yeah payday em. .

Happy packing happier.
Happy belated birthday curvy DS and forward for unescorted DS too.

I have an outline for all of the behaviour now but they can be juggled about. Got sifted out of another job this week.

£21.50 ice land, £45 Aldi and same Sainsbury's to come tomorrow.
3 charity bags to scouts for the weight in packed in car.
Thanks re interview. I just want it done now but yy more prep time will be better as didn't get much chance with half term

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 22/02/2020 11:42

Thank you all again for the birthday wishes for ds.
Today should be a NSD...
Will be busy getting stuff ready for going back to work/school on Monday.
