H has just suggested ds bring a toothbrush to his place next time so he can brush his teeth after lunch. I am trying not to yell "you don't pay child support, I realise you are on benefits and finding it tough but you could at least buy the kid a fecking toothbrush"

wolf re investment property I’ve said to dh that I’m happy to do it on the proviso that we get a property manager of my choosing (I work with one at work for one of my clients and she’s fab!). This is especially important as if dh wants to take 3months off next year and go to nz we’ll need someone on the ground here so to speak.

I’ve said to dh that it has to be a 2 bed place. It has to have parking. Preferable underground secure parking that we can either use ourselves or rent out as well. Everything in joint names.

ememem84 · 22/02/2020 17:28

I’ve used first pay to pay into joint account and to pay £350 off my credit card.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/02/2020 17:46

Yeah cos you are loaded wolf. Hmm toothbrushes can be bought for less than £1. It's his own doing he is in this situation.
How it's DS after the visit.

If the numbers stack up sounds worth it em. As you say had to be ground rules as you haven't time to run 2 properties.

£8.40 Chinese for DC to share. £50 Sainsbury's.

Mrsmadevans · 22/02/2020 18:24

Afternoon everyone 😃
NSD for me today 😀
About time too 😁
@maddenlightfoot thank you for the Bob love 🤗♥️
Have a great hen party with the gels🎉👏🍰🥳🎈👯‍♂️🎊
@Lovemaltesers ahh thank you so much that is so kind of you to say that 🤗
How on Earth did you get away with £1.95 in Lidl yesterday 😂😂😂
There are treatment options for diabetic macular retinopathy so don't despair , l am sure they will take great care of your Mum 💐
Am 😂 at your DH raiding the loft ahh bless him 🤗
Well done on the assignment Q's too 😀
@lifelongfrugaleer ah thank you re Mum & Bob they are just giving themselves a chance of happiness because my mum has been so upset over my Dad it's been pitiful to see her 😥
l'm a feeder too 😂
@Unescorted l did just that yesterday in Tesco's or was it the day before l saw 6 chilli jam pork pies reduced to 55p and l thought l would get them because my DH would love this sort of thing normally , never seen them before , they were awful 😁😂 we gave them to the birds 😀 they seem to love them anyway . So even though I wasted 55p at least it wasn't £2 just to give them to the birds. 😁
@Wolfcub you tell your H that its not advised to brush after a meal. The official advice is 'Brush your teeth for 2 mins last thing at night before bed and on 1 other occasion during the day ' www.nhs.uk/livewell site
So yah boo sucks to H 👍
@ememem84, l would love to buy a second property and we did think about it but realised we were too old and the costs are much more than just owning one property so it put us off 😁 that and the Dds draining our pension funds and savings to set up on their own 😂
The bank of Mum and Dad is not a bottomless pit although they think it is 😂
I wouldn't want it any other way though ♥️
My DH is very miffed , Wales are losing , George North has been injured and l am just a enjoying myself listening to Robert Palmer singing Mercy Mercy me /l want you and it's fantastic. l am probably not the most sympathetic person to watch the game with 😂😂😂

Unescorted · 22/02/2020 18:32

The only plan is to give her enough cash to pay for her first round at the pub... it is just us and grand parents. Most of her friends are not yet 18 or too far away. We are doing a big summer party - My 50th, her 18th, general love and fun.... it is going to be 3 generations of friends.

Wolf It is so frustrating.

Supermarkets... £12 in Morrisons and £65 in Aldi.

Other than that - foodbank sorting through the pet food and toiletries. Everything else is stock rotated. There were some interesting finds at the bottom of the bins...…

Mumbassa2 · 23/02/2020 03:19

Sharn I will look into the merlin pass, thank you!

mrs I’m so glad your DM is happy❤️

Sorry I have been AWOL, we had a lovely family day yesterday. I will catch up with you all in the morning (currently can’t sleep).

SnugglySnerd · 23/02/2020 06:42

Morning all. Had a long, tiring and frustrating couple of days one way or another. Hoping today will be better.
Just going to read back and catch up with you all.

ememem84 · 23/02/2020 07:13

Morning. Busy day today. House needs a clean and no doubt dh will tell me I should just enjoy the time with the kids and leave the house stuff. Instead of helping.

I’ve also got to sort out planning appeal statement out today and get it ready to submit tomorrow.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 23/02/2020 08:22

Morning you wonderful people!
Just about to clean the kitchen and hoover downstairs, then will jump in the shower, ex is getting here for 10 so that I can go and do some shopping in Romford.
Need to pick up dd2s medication, so will do that first and after Romford will go to Westfield to pick up a order from m and s.

Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday.

Wolfcub · 23/02/2020 10:17

Morning all. Overnight stuff packed for work and work outfit out for tomorrow.

Put my hair in bunches so we can't go out to lunch and spend anything GrinMay send ds to Tesco after breakfast as we need milk and some bits.

Body scrubbed and used the last of last years scrub to do it. 40 days until holidays and I have skin like a very pasty blue elephant

Thinking about all the things I need to do in those 40 days. Write job app, hopefully get interviewed. 60 hour examined course. Shed loads of work. Shopping for hols. Packing. Etc. Argh.

I've drafted two very tough competency outlines so I have five so far. Slightly calming the abject panic I feel

OP posts:
Wolfcub · 23/02/2020 11:33

The panic is different from the fear by the way

The fear is what's needed to make you do something you don't like - like write job examples or essays

The panic is the fear of not getting the job you've been doing (quite competently) for some time. This has happened to me before for not an unfounded thing

WiFi went down over the weekend so I wasn’t able to log on. We went swimming on Friday, I had to pay full price so I will need to rebudget for that. NSD Saturday. Weather has been awful here, the wind is bad still and the rain has been very heavy. I usually love winter (mainly for Christmas, I’d have my decs up all year round if I could), but this winters been crap.

madden I find that half terms really set me back a bit. DD started nursery in September and has had some friends over this week, and needs much more entertaining than she did when she was at home every day. So I’ve spent a lot this half term.

mrs how long were your parents together, if you don’t mind me asking?. If must be so hard for her but I’m glad she’s found happiness with Bob. Bless him and his nets, thankfully it isn’t a long wait until Monday!.

love 💐for you and your DM.

unescorted my DS has mastered the art of a puppy dog face whenever I don’t get him something. I shouldn’t give in but it’s too cute not to.

Good look with the house move happier!

wolf your H sounds like my ex! DD ran out of nappies when she was visiting him and instead of popping to the local and buying some he insisted I drive an hour round trip, whilst heavily pregnant, to give him some from home. A toothbrush is a quid, he could fork out that. I’m on benefits and I’m absolutely brassic some weeks but if my kids needed a toothbrush I’d fork out a quid for one!. How is DS now after the time with his dad?

I hope I’ve caught up with you all now!

Mrsmadevans · 23/02/2020 12:28

Afternoon everyone Smile
After a leisurely start l didn't want to get out of bed this morning
DH started making me feel guilty by saying he was going to clean downstairs so l had to join him in the cleaning didn't l ? Grin
Cleaned the bathroom/bedrooms, changed the beds and done the washing/drying and am now relaxing in front of the telly with a cuppa AHHH! Smile
One bath and hair wash later and l am myself again Smile
DD2 has Catfish on Grin it's mind numbingly awful yet strangely addictive , bit like Jeremy Kyle and My Mum , she loved him.
l could never see the attraction myself it was awful Grin
Definitely a NSD today , DD1 has gone to do Mum today for me , we are back tomorrow , it's nice to have someone l can trust looking after her and giving DH & l a day off to catch up on cleaning here tbh.
Have a lovely relaing Sunday everyone Smile

Mrsmadevans · 23/02/2020 12:29

Missed the X out Grin laid back Mrs today Grin

Mrsmadevans · 23/02/2020 12:50

@maddenlightfoot l don't mind you asking at all Smile
My Mum & Dad knew each other 70 yrs but were married 67 yrs They met when Mum was 16/17 & he was 18/19 but not as bf/gf only in a general way such as friendship circles. Dad went to do his national service and came back and he and Mum married not long after.
Bob is 88 and he has been married to his wife for nearly the same time. Mum & his wife used to go to the same hairdressers, at the same time for years and Bob used to take his wife and Mum got on with him and his wife very well they used to have a laugh together . So when his wife died and my Dad died , l think it was the natural progression for them to cling to each other, there is nothing in it they are just companions . I have no problem with it whatsoever but my Sister and Brother don't like it at all . I can see a difference in My Mum & Bob and l just want her/him/them to be happy. Bob's Dd wasn't keen in the beginning because she felt that one of them would die before long and they would be terrible again but you can't live your life like that . No one knows what will happen to any of us so let them enjoy it while they can l say Flowers

Mrsmadevans · 23/02/2020 12:55

Oh God here l go again l meant @MummySharn l am truly useless at these @ thingys ,
Sorry @maddenlightfoot Smile

Taytocrisps · 23/02/2020 13:22

Hope everyone's having a good Sunday. I'm grabbing 10 minutes to post quickly and then I'll come back later to catch up on your news.

So, very exciting weekend in the Tayto household. We've adopted two cats from a pet rescue. We brought DCat1 home on Friday night. DCat2 has a touch of diarrhoea and is still a little underweight, so the pet rescue are keeping her for a bit longer. DCat1 is male and sooo affectionate. He just wants to be on your lap the whole time. Or playing with his fishing rod toys. The cats came from a house where there were 30 cats! Sad It cost us €234.84 (adoption fees + pet food + litter) but worth every cent to see the look on DD's face as she hugged her first pet. We'd already bought some cat stuff (scratching posts + a cat basket + toys + litter trays etc.) so it's been a spendy month. So far the cat basket hasn't been touched - DCat1 seems to prefer the sofa and DD's fluffy blanket Smile. Unfortunately, DD is at her Dad's this weekend but he let her stay over on Friday night and picked her up at lunchtime on Saturday.

I'm going to go clean the house and put on a washload. Then catch the Ireland v England rugby match at 3. May the best team win! Shamrock

maddenlightfoot · 23/02/2020 13:27

That's lovely Mrs. There's no planning for life's uncertainties so your mum and bob taking a chance on a it of companionship in the here and now should be celebrated!

I'm travelling back home now. Fun night and as some parts had already been paid for (afternoon tea and some cocktails) I only needed to pay for dinner (£25) and some more drinks later (£30ish). The frugal bonus of the day was discovering that my ancient Oyster card had enough money on it to cover all of my travel yesterday and today!

Dh has taken the girls to soft play today and they're picking me up at the station so il save on cab fare too.

I've got that end of holidays feeling - eaten too much, drunk too much, spent too much 😂 - actually looking forward to an early night and getting back to the routine of school, nursery and work tomorrow!

Mrsmadevans · 23/02/2020 13:36

@Taytocrisps you can't put a price on owning your first pet and your DD must be ecstatic bless her Smile
Thank you @maddenlightfoot l totally agree with you , re them making the most of each other's company while they can , who knows what tomorrow will bring Smile
Live for Today! Smile

Wolfcub · 23/02/2020 13:36

@Tayto I think Ireland will win. Did you see your sexy French ref yesterday?

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/02/2020 14:35

Tayto you have forgotten first rule of frugal club.........pet photos

Mrsmadevans · 23/02/2020 15:40

I don't know about sexy French Refs but have you seen the young man playing for the French team, he looks like a young Omar Sharif very handsome. I don't know his name. I do now, my DDS are disgusted at me lusting after such a young man but l tell them it's only because he looks like Omar Grin
