Thanks life.

Had to spend some money today £1.80 post office £3 something Tesco and £7.99 birthday present for DD's friend.

Also had to get ds to see the dr again. Got to work (office in the drs surgery) dr called at 9:30 and offered appt at 10 so had to drive back (past my house) 7 miles to get ds from school then to the drs then take him back to school. Annoying as I haven't got loads of fuel. Anyway they aren't being very helpful I have a feeling the paeds threshold is so high they're too scared to refer in case it gets batted back. More bloods booked for Wednesday though. Wish we could afford private.

Thanks for new thread! I need to forward plan my spends for October this evening and review how on track my September spending was. Will report back later!

Ooh and em would love to know the verdict on the wine - could be s real bargain!

SnugglySnerd · 30/09/2019 17:24

Thanks for the new thread life
Good, constructive office day at work today.
Gardener has been in while the rain held off, so the patio & path have progressed. Still not sure we'll have the drive done before spring, but we'll see. It has needed doing for15 years so what's another few months?! Need to chivvy along the company doing the front door now.

Ds has now done 4 shifts behind the bar at the cricket club & on Saturday dd did her first shift waitressing at the local rugby club, so both are earning now which is good. Ds has his first appointment with the chronic fatigue service tomorrow, so hopefully he will get good advice on how to manage his energy levels. I'm leaving these appointments to him to go alone, he needs to take it on board himself.
wreck sorry you're having frustration with your ds' health. You shouldn't have to wish for the money to go private, that shouldn't be needed.

Lovemaltesers · 30/09/2019 18:37

As of next Monday I’m on the sober train. And the no snack train. And the exercise every day even if it’s a walk train.

I’m at the weight I was when I was 6mth pregnant. I knew I wouldn’t drop all the weight immediately. Although did with ds. And knew that some would creep back on. But. I’ve also been enjoying far too much cake chocolate biscuits cheese. And not enough water or moving.

So. After my birthday and birthday dinner out at the weekend that’s it. No snacking unless healthy. No snacks in the house. Dh is feeling this too.

I need to eat better. I’m tired so am reaching for sweet things to boost me. When I could be eating things that keep me fuller for longer and will help with the energy levels. So as of Monday.

I’m fitting in one gym session a week at present. Plus the riding. And am going to try and get some yoga in there too. Maybe.

Tomorrow I’m dropping dh and ds off at work and nursery. Will have a mooch around town (maybe get measured for bras) and then will get my nails done. Then home and will try and work out how much we have to spend voucher wise and will plan spends accordingly.

We need more formula and I’m sure we have around £100 in boots vouchers. So will use that to top us up.

Dh wants me to do a budget. I am crap at budgets. But must try.

CurlsandCurves · 30/09/2019 21:06

Checking in.

Weekly shop went well, approx £15 under budget. Loving that the boys are enjoying cheaper meats like pork and chicken drumsticks, it’s really helped this weeks menu plan.

Bills account should end up around £30 in credit so that’ll be moved across to savings.

Very proud mum brag alert. DS1 has bagged himself a place on the schools bronze DofE. There are only 40 places. And looking at what is asked of them, it’s quite challenging and requires a lot of commitment. But he was desperate to do it, so much so that he texted me to remind me to sign him up and pay the deposit by 9am when the places were released. I’m just so chuffed he wants to do this, and that he’s so aware of how this will stand him in good stead when it comes to his cv, applying for colleges, apprenticeships, uni or whatever he goes on to do.

And DS2 is jumping on the bandwagon, he’s made himself a list of jobs to do for pocket money. I taught himself how to hoover this afternoon 😍

CamdenTownie · 30/09/2019 21:19

Hey everyone 👋

Can't believe it's October tomorrow 🍁

Got dd2 school photo today, when I ordered I chose the wrong size so called to pay the extra and get a bigger one, but they've sent both! I would send the smaller one back, but what will they do with a photo of my lovely 12 year old? Shred it probably, so I'm keeping it!

Ds2's college are driving me mad, he's only been there 3 weeks, on a Monday he has a tutor group lesson from 4-4:30, because he misses the 4:30 bus he has to wait until 6:30 for the next one which means he doesn't get home until 7:30pm, considering he leaves home at 7:30am that's a long day! I really need him to be home earlier than that to help out with the youngest dc, college have a big problem with this it seems even though I've explained to them that he needs to collect dd for me, now it's getting dark early it's even more necessary.

This afternoon I had a really shitty email from them, that was basically the tutor explaining to me what life is like in the real world of work, I wouldn't mind but the tutor is about half my age, and I'm sure I've had many more years experience of work.

If they can't accommodate this he will have to find a different course, in his view leaving 20 mins early doesn't make any difference and he's offered to make the time up, but that's not an option! He's not loving the course tbh, but I feel bad for him, he's a good kid and is always there on time, doesn't mess around and isn't rude etc.

Spends today were just 30p on two bananas.

northender · 30/09/2019 21:39

curls that's great for your ds & the DofE. I encouraged ds but it would've interfered too much with his cricket! It's a good scheme to do & as you say stands them in good stead for the future.
camden that sounds a tough issue with college, shame they can't be more flexible.

I've emailed Debenhams about a return I didn't get refunded for. I'd forgotten about it, but in my renewed spirit of money grabbing, I've asked for the correct refund.

The JO meatloaf went down well & I've made the meatballs & sauce for tomorrow

Thank you for the thread Life.

Accidentalaccountant · 01/10/2019 05:57

Can I join? From my user name I should be good with money...anyway 1st October so a new start. Today probably petrol but that's it.

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/10/2019 06:28

Welcome accidental.

Happy 1 October everyone.
Stormy weather here.

Nsd planned today except for usual activity. Actually scrub that £25 gym.

That's quite inflexible of college. The world of work would help if they could.

Dofe sounds great. Excellent DS got in it curls.
There is a lot to be said for eating better em. It defo makes a difference. The weight will come off when you do.

Welcome accidental! Nothing like a fresh new 1st of the month start!

I've shifted a bit of money around but didn't get round to my proper budget last night so will think in that today.

Camden that does sound really frustrating but would be a shame to change course unless that's what he really wants. Is there another way your dd could get home or stay later at school on that day? Perhaps ds could use that extra time at college as his study time and hopefully free up extra time for himself across the week? Just ideas... I was a rural college student and hated having to rely on the infrequent buses.

ememem84 · 01/10/2019 06:59

Spoke to dh again re budget. He wants to know how much extra he should put into joint ac. I’ve sugfested he put in the same amount I used to. Makes sense no?

WreckTangled · 01/10/2019 08:05

Free drinks from the costa express machines today. Go go go! I'm going to hunt one out... hopefully the fuel won't cost more than the coffee is worth Grin

ememem84 · 01/10/2019 09:39

I’m in town. Have just grabbed some fleece booties for Dd from M&S and some new pants for me (£53 in total...!)

Now stopping for a coffee before my nail appointment. I was hoping Dd would wake up for her milk now. But she’s sleeping. Reluctant to wake her.

So am enjoying the peace of a hot coffee. £2.75. Ffs. But. Cute spoon.

Was wondering why I wasn't getting any notifications HmmConfused

seacow sorry to hear about your dd's hand, how is it today?

I'm still bandaging mine, and will be for a few days yet I would think. Hoping most of it will be healed for Sat as i'm going to afternoon tea for a hen party and don't want to have to explain myself 10 times Smile

north great that both dc are earning, big help to you
curl well done to both your ds's

em my brother and his wife think their dd won't be able to climb out of cot because she's in a sleeping bag, they don't realise yet that babies are like houdini, I can't wait for the day they realise Grin

Does dh want ye to cut back while you're on mat leave maybe, if so he needs to verbalise this.

I didn't bring a lunch today, ds was up so I enjoyed talking to him while making dc's lunches and ran out of time to make my own. Need to go to chemist for cough bottle for ds so might get this done during lunch too.

moimichme · 01/10/2019 13:48

Hello everyone and welcome accidental.

Little most of the food this week is pretty cheap (already in the pantry/freezer) and my niece has just announced she wants to visit for 4 days starting tomorrow but the more, the merrier right? Grin

NSD apart from childminder payment going out today (gulp!), but it's budgeted for.

ememem84 · 01/10/2019 13:56

happier quite possibly. I’ve told him again that he needs to give me the amex statements so I can get a better idea of what we’re spending on it.

I’m all for cutting back but dh actually has no idea what we spend. He’s an accountant,...

Ive just made a cake. Vanilla sponge with cherries and sultanas.

ememem84 · 01/10/2019 20:09

£17 wellies for ds
£43 pants for me
£39.50 nails. Pink. Glittery. Slightly extra. They’ll last a month.
