Welcome back Nocuts

CamdenTownie · 20/08/2019 21:41

Oh Rosie you've done well this week so far! I've spent loads (not as much as I usually would but still more than I should Hmm)

Today dh and I travelled into work together, so we spent £8 in Lidl, on bakery stuff a ready meal and Pepsi max, I then spent £24 in Primark on two tops some socks and cotton wool pads, we took ds out for a curry this evening(£43) we wanted to do it on Thursday as he gets his gcse exam results but he's busy Hmm! Then a further £2.97 on 3 McFlurrys from McDonald's.

Got a refund from decathlon today for £11.47, sending £27.50 of stuff back to m&s plus waiting on a refund of £36 from Zara, still have £46 in my Monzo account, £30 cash in my purse and £27 in my main current account, but this only needs to last until Sunday. I do need to pay £22 for a leg wax on Saturday too.

the only thing I need to buy is some wrapping paper for dd1's birthday present, I've wrapped lots of small gifts in tissue paper and put them in a big box she hasn't got too many as she likes nice (read expensive) things so one roll will be more than enough.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 20/08/2019 22:00

Ooh em, is stylebook easy to use? I'm trying to see what would suit me, what needs to go etc, but have no idea where to start, so any recommendations will be good please.
And Rosie what budgeting app did you get?
Thank you both.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 20/08/2019 23:37

never realised how spoilt I am for buses/takeaways! I can get a bus every 15 mins during the day and a night bus every hour... plus lots of takeaway choice (can't eat any of it though, bloody IBS!) plus 2 train stations 20 mins walk in either direction. mind you I don't drive so would be stuffed if we didn't have good public transport or shops within walking distance!

£24 spent in tesco; stuck to the list, only extra was mushrooms which I fancied for our fry up tomorrow morning :)

wreck my dd1 (10) has been horrendous today, apparently being asked to put your washing away that's been on her bedroom floor for 5 days is soooooo unfair. I clearly hate her because i asked her if maybe 6 hours watching crappy YouTube videos on her phone was a bit much and could she do something else. and if she couldn't limit herself I would need to install a time limit. I'm the meanest mum ever, that's so unfair and shes not a baby so doesn't need one. she has now had the phone removed, so no longer an issue 😂

WreckTangled · 21/08/2019 06:43

Oh good nocuts they sound quite similar (dd is 9) glad it's not just mine!

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/08/2019 06:55

Welcome back Nocuts
I'm a mean mam too then.

Some food spends yesterday I should be able to claim most back. Collected my Tu order and spent £19 Sainsbury's.
The hard baking ware is half price again so got some loaf tins. I might need baking sheets but they will be ok until next time round.

ememem84 · 21/08/2019 07:04

curvy yes it is. You do have to pay for the app (and I’m not sure if it’s available on Android). It’s time consuming initially as you need to snap pics of all your clothes... or get pics from Internet. But it’s fun to use to make outfits.

In doing this I’ve discovered things I’d forgotten I’d bought. Yellow shirt dress I wore yesterday is a great example of this.

My eBay bargain bag arrived yesterday. It looks like the genuine article. All the serial numbers are In the right places, the zips have the Mulberry logo on them and there’s nothing obviously fake. But even if it had been/is a fake. I paid £42 for a decent quality leather handbag (and not £800 rrp)

Wolfcub · 21/08/2019 07:10

Great result Em

Need to put in my expenses
Also need to query the bank re an overdraft charge when I’m not overdrawn - grrrr

ememem84 · 21/08/2019 07:16

Vets this morning with catface for her annual jabs. #fun

I’m taking ds with me too. So it’ll more than likely be absolute chaos!!

Then no idea what.

I’m trying to get a walk in with dd in the pram every day now so will do that too. Loads of blackberries and sloes round here too. Must remember to take a pot with me to collect them in. Idea being well pop them in the freezer then make jam. Dm has loads of apples on her tree too so blackberry and apple jam! Yay!

ememem84 · 21/08/2019 07:18

nocuts if you can prise dds phone from her and if she has an iPhone you can set a screen time limit on it with a passcode which automatically blocks certain apps during a set time period.

Mine blocks itself from social media between 9-730 when I’m at work. I really should reinstate the block now

Girliefriendlikescake · 21/08/2019 07:35

Oh God it must have been moody dd day ystd 🙄🤣 my dd was awful to me all day and eventually had me in tears. That at least shut her up for a bit, I honestly don't think she realises I'm human to sometimes.

I told her I'm really struggling as I have to manage the puppy, the house, work and I could do without her having a go at me every 5 mins. I also struggle on broken sleep and the puppy has me up every night!!

Gah!! Bloody kids.

Anyway Ystd I only spent £4 on lunch, annoyingly I had made lunch but managed to leave it at home 🙄

Today I need to get milk, butter, bread etc.

maddenlightfoot · 21/08/2019 08:18

We live as near to city centre as is possible... I dream of rural living but sometimes, like when we've run out of milk at 11pm, I'm thankful for the 24hr shop at the end of the road 😂

I actually managed a NSD yesterday! I need petrol today but just going to put in 1/2 tank to get me through to the end of the month

SnugglySnerd · 21/08/2019 08:47

We're very spoilt for public transport, shops, takeaways etc too. Much as I love the countryside I'd struggle to give up all the convenience of the city.
Country park today. Picnic packed. Sun shining. Should be a nice day.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 21/08/2019 09:19

Thanks em, I will have a look on the play store later.
Today is my last day in Edinburgh, I head back to London late afternoon.
Have a great day everyone.

WreckTangled · 21/08/2019 09:51

Dh and I had tickets to see romesh ranganathan tonight only it was last night and we missed it because I got the date wrong. Could cry.

LivingInLaputa · 21/08/2019 10:33

Oh nooo wreck 😭😭😭 that sucks I’m sorry. I suppose it is allocated seats at the hawth so they wouldn’t let you use them?! Worth phoning up just in case they have a couple of spare seats even if not together?

WreckTangled · 21/08/2019 10:34

It says it's sold out online. I can't believe I got the date wrong

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/08/2019 13:07

Oh no wreck. Still ring up and throw yourself on their mercy.

Hair cuts later £60 ish maybe
Owe childminders £52

ChristmasSeacow · 21/08/2019 13:09

Oh no Wreck! That’s such a shame Sad

Wolfcub · 21/08/2019 14:12

Wreck I agree with Life, ring up and see what they can do

Bornlazy · 21/08/2019 14:34

Oh no wreck hope they can sort something out for you.

Spends yesterday £41 petrol
Spends today £5.10 on bread & milk. Will probably have a big spend later as I need to order ds2s bed today.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 21/08/2019 14:41

oh no wreck could you go blag your way. they might be able to do something.

girlie my girls have had me in tears before, sometimes its good for them to see that to realise their words and behaviour is hurtful and just because we are mums doesnt mean we dont have feelings.

today my mum has taken the girls and is having them overnight so no moody dd today 😂😂 em she has a Nokia so will look see if there's a similar app once she's home.

so instead of my usual vegging with Netflix I've been for an 8 mile walk in preparation for a half marathon I'm doing next year. got to get some decent trainers with some ankle support though, converse weren't great will look on payday! cooking lunch now, only spend will be £6 for zumba later on.

going to clean the house and put some more bits on eBay too after lunch :)

WreckTangled · 21/08/2019 14:45

Its fine we're going to go it for dinner instead. There's a new Turkish place we've been wanting to try

SnugglySnerd · 21/08/2019 14:52

How annoying Wreck. You should definitely phone up and see what they can do.

CamdenTownie · 21/08/2019 14:55

No wreck! I could cry for you too! How disappointing ☹️

NSD so far, not much left in the pot anyway so I need to rein it in as I've got holiday money saved I'm trying to last on what I budgeted.

Madden & snerd - I do miss city life but working in London is enough for me, I'm always happy to get home after a mammoth day in town!

I'm made lunch at home this morning so I didn't need to buy anything, not sure what to do for tomorrow 🤔 can't face eating any more noodles!

Pre teen girls can be awful, I have two daughters and two sons and the girls have by far been the worst, I know how it feels to be in tears at their attitude. Thanks to everyone struggling with this, crazy that I always thought having girls would mean this amazing relationship where we are best friends 😂😂😂 err yeah it seems we can only get along when it's on their terms!!
