@ememem84 we used baby massage.

Wednesday and Thursday were NSD. Need fuel tonight but working all weekend so hopefully low/no spends.

Wages have gone in and it’s nice to see the overtime.

Does anyone do the thing (can’t think what it is called) when every penny is accounted for? I’m wondering if that may help me.

ememem84 · 23/08/2019 10:05

Funnily enough I was googling baby massage this morning. I’ve tried burping her sitting up as well as over the shoulder.

We do have her basket tilted slightly. And the bottles we have are (I think) anti colic. Time tippee closer to nature ones. Not the “official” anti comic ones.

After my last post I gave her a bottle and she ripped out a gigantic burp, a fart (which turned out to be more than just a fart) and has settled for more bottle and a nap.

ememem84 · 23/08/2019 10:06

It also takes aaaaaaages most of the time to wind her. Frustrating as I know there’s a burp in there!!!

littlechoc the zero budget method? I’ve tried but failed miserably. To be fair any sort of strict budget I’ve failed at...!

Littlechocola · 23/08/2019 11:23

I had a flashback of ds1 (now 18) spending what felt like hours laying on his tummy on my knees trying to get a burp! I might remind him.

Yes that’s it! I’ve written it all down but it seems scary having every penny accounted for! I like a bit left as a ‘just in case’ although I suppose that could come from other ‘pots’.

ChristmasSeacow · 23/08/2019 11:37

Winding babies can be very tedious! It just gradually gets easier.

I am having a spendy day. Yesterday with both DC was TERRIBLE, one of my worst ever days as a parent. DD is at nursery today so I only have DS - one of the last two days on our own before team starts again. I am currently sat atop an open-topped tour bus going round the sights of London. DS loves the underground and buses and I thought an open bus would tickle him. He does seem to be loving it, which is a relief as it cost c £48 for 2 tickets Shock. We’ll stick to London tfl bus routes in future but the weather is lovely so I seized the moment!

Also brought diet snacks for me and snacks for D but will take him to Costa for his favourite toastie too. I hope he has a lovely day 😍

Wolfcub · 23/08/2019 11:58

Little I do but in my accounting I have £150 fun money and £70 work/incidental expenses so that gives a little freedom

Happierwithouthim · 23/08/2019 11:59

@Littlechocola Ynab link This is the app I use for zero budgeting you can try it free for a month with this link.

I've never missed a payment or gone overdrawn since I started using it.

ememem84 · 23/08/2019 12:21

Productive day. Laundry in/out. All beds changed. Floors upstairs hoovered. Downstairs bathroom cleaned.

Mil took ds to the park he’s had a nap and they’re now baking a cake. Complete with a “nanny’s baking a cake!” Song. It’s very repetitive. 😂

Just been to the shop. Tonic water, reduced flowers (orange roses), Polish raspberry Jaffa cakes, baking powder.

We’re going to garden centre this afternoon to see if we ca. Get some sun loungers and maybe an umbrella. And maybe a garden table and chairs. Garden centre has a sale this weekend. So hopefully we can get something useful.

Wolfcub · 23/08/2019 13:01

I have labelled all the school uniform, new bags, pencil case etc. I am certain some of it is missing !
Tomorrow we need school shoes. School trainers and rugby boots. ☹️

ememem84 · 23/08/2019 13:20

£17 amazon pantry. On (I think) about a million cans of tonic water. Worked out at £2 something for a pack of 12....

Wolfcub · 23/08/2019 14:42

Watching episode one of shop well for less with the very organised mum. This should be interesting

maddenlightfoot · 23/08/2019 15:17

Blush I'm a very lazy parent and never really burped my babies - figured if they settled after a feed there wasn't a burp, or even if there was it would come up by a quick change in position rather than an extended back pat. Plus it meant I could go back to sleep much more quickly 😂

Gosh it's hot here today. We're having an impromptu bbq - £26 on supplies.

Wolfcub · 23/08/2019 16:42

£7.25 on coop £5 meal deal and a cake

Lovemaltesers · 23/08/2019 16:48

Been missing a few days as our broadband was out, as our switch on Tuesday didn’t work and an engineer had to come out today.

Spendy yet organising day for upcoming holidays...
-Paid deposit for August’s 2020 Eurocamp
-Hotel room for Oct half term £29.50, plus another £50 for breakfast and evening meal
-4 x 2 day tickets for legoland at half term £120 including parking as I got a deal through work benefits

DP saved £200 by booking through Eurocamp Germany rather than the uk site. He used some kind of translation thing to understand it as he doesn’t speak German.

We meant to go to the beach today but got delayed by the engineer so may go tomorrow instead. With a picnic.

Lovemaltesers · 23/08/2019 16:50

DP is currently listing things on eBay and has told me to stop arranging things Blush

Littlechocola · 23/08/2019 16:51

@Wolfcub that sounds like a good idea!

@Happierwithouthim ooh I had heard about YNAB but had never properly looked. It looks good! I think I’ll have a try.

ememem84 · 23/08/2019 19:12

£182 at garden centre 😳 but we got a picnic table (£169 reduced to £118 then reduced to £95 as it was an ex display model and the last one left. Price includes free delivery), a trowel, some plants, a bbq sponge (??) a vintage look football doorstop, and a few other garden things.

Unescorted · 23/08/2019 19:18

arrrgggghhhhhh - just lost a long post. Just think loads of empathy and love for you guys and you get the gist.

And we don't get pizza delivery either!

WreckTangled · 23/08/2019 19:37

Argh I'm so stressed trying to pack. Hate it. Plus things I can't pack until tomorrow morning once we've brushed our teeth etc which is v annoying.

ememem84 · 23/08/2019 22:46

wreck I have a “holiday” toothbrush and hairbrush and basically buy duplicate toiletries so I don’t need to pack anything in the morning.

I’ve had two massive g&ts. Necessary.

Had a chat with dh about me getting a car. He essentially said no. Because he wants to be a zero car family. Not a two car family. I’ve said that I wasn’t thinking about now. Maybe when I’ve been back at work a year and have saved up some more etc. And in the event we need to be in two places at once etc.

He said no.

I’ve challenged him to only use public transport next week for three weeks. He seems to think it’ll be easy. Wherever we go he will be on the bus. Or in a taxi. Or in his bike. No cars allowed.
Purely because he thinks we don’t need a car for anything.
hell last all of a few hours

WreckTangled · 24/08/2019 05:40

Me and the dc have holiday toothbrushes but dh doesn't and ds steals every single hairbrush to sleep with HmmGrin

Rightwayup · 24/08/2019 06:59

Dinner out 52. Tesco 62 and petrol 30. Today 5 dog training. So should be a low spend day

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/08/2019 07:27

Big spend day today. £25 pony, £5 football, £150 food as have a looong list. £££ various bank holiday sales off the Christmas thread. I'm my defense both DC are October babies

Wolfcub · 24/08/2019 07:29

Have a fabulous holiday Wreck.

I am anticipating at least £120 on three pieces of school footwear today. Sad. Also £10 in the pub I reckon and some supplies from the supermarket to take to friends

ememem84 · 24/08/2019 07:30

Ah. Yeah dh doesn’t have a spare anything.

Dd seems to have a cold. Bugger. She’s very congested.

It’s dhs birthday today. We’re going out for breakfast in a bit.

Ds is excited about Colin the caterpillar cake. Is it even a birthday if you don’t get a Colin?!

Dh likes his presents. Hopefully they fit.
