I have the same problem life oasis have some nice skinny knit basic jumpers at present. Or if maybe wear it with a denim shirt tucked in. Or a plain white tee. Tucked in. Or maybe a long sleeve pussy bow blouse. Tucked in. I’m a fan of the tuck.

One of my eBay items sold. Yay. Wait for payment and then will post.

I’ve just been through my jewellery box. Everything got thrown about in the move so I took this as an opportunity to have a sort through. I’ve binned some things (mostly accessorise cheap stuff from years ago which I’d never wear now) and kept the sentimental stuff and the stuff I wear regularly.

It’s been a nice day here. I’ve got loads done and am feeling almost dare I say it on top of things....

LonelyOversharer · 04/11/2018 21:12

I. Just. Bought. Yarn.

FFS.

Is it better or worse that I now recognise I have a real problem with yarn? Perilous to stop it. It is going to be a very big bag, that I will have to own up to. 3 sets of dpn's, but who am I kidding. I did not need a single ball of it.

QuiteFabULousDahling · 04/11/2018 21:28

I didnt need trees Lonely but I budgeted and bought them .
It would be very dull if we all existed to only buy essentials .
Ive been there and while it was what it was ,it was shit .
Can you set a monthly budget for "spends"?
Thats what I do -add it onto the budget and once its gone, its gone .
Ps the fact you are recognising this, is very different to how you were previously.
What did you get ? Grin

LonelyOversharer · 04/11/2018 21:34

Alpaca. 4ply. Lots of it.

A spends for me bit would be good. Because then I might not feel so bad buying yarn. I don't buy cosmetics, hair stuff, new clothes (do lidl thermal tights count?), I can even swerve stationary (just). All my spends are food, kids, house. But yarn just seems so frivolous. Maybe it's because it's just for me. It can't be because I already have so very much of it - can it ?! Grin

ememem84 · 04/11/2018 21:35

We did a garden centre trip yesterday.

I’ve made a list of the plants I want for my garden.

Pansies - sentimental reasons. My papa who ds is named after always had pansies. Lovely bright colours. So we’re getting them. He always said they watched me with their “eye” in the middle.

Dh wants a lemon tree and an olive tree.

I want to grow strawberries.

I also want a hydrangea. But not sure how difficult they are. Dparents have one and it’s beautiful. But do you have to go full maintenance?!

Wolfcub · 04/11/2018 21:40

Em if you have a hydrangea try and have it in a big pot if you can even if you plant the pot in the garden they are an absolute sodding bastard to dig out the roots get everywhere

ememem84 · 04/11/2018 21:43

Thanks wolf! Will remember that. Dparents one is enormous. But so pretty. I essentially want one so I can have the flowers on my table.

Dh wants a pohutakawa. Which is very pretty. But not sure if I can get one here...research is needed.

Thatsnotmybookworm · 04/11/2018 21:46

Spends today:

£3 parking and drink

£16 dinner out

northender · 04/11/2018 21:56

Lots of study this weekend. Exam tomorrow...eek!
Will catch up properly tomorrow night.

QuiteFabULousDahling · 04/11/2018 21:57

Lonely
It really helped me to set a budget and stick to it .
Sometimes its £0 but usually £50 per month but it stops the guilt/feel bad/buy stuff to make me feel better/guilt cycle.
Once its gone I dont even look at websites etc

Wolfcub · 04/11/2018 22:12

Good luck North

Cagliostro · 04/11/2018 22:16

Not caught up yet!

Lonely I’d buy DVDs and board games like you buy yarn. A few years ago we set ourselves “pocket money” which is to cover stuff like that. Helps loads.

Last (hopefully) dental work being done tomorrow. Crown fitting but we shall see if it works out.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 04/11/2018 22:57

North good luck for tomorrow.
Cag, hope everything goes ok at the dentist.

Had a lovely afternoon with dd2, still no coat for me.
Dinner out £15.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/11/2018 06:18

Good luck cag and North.
6am is brutal.
Thanks for the tips em. Oasis is nearby too. I have some sea salt tops that woulds go with it.

YY lonely. Set yourself a wool expenses each month. And get knitting girl... Use some of it up = buy more...

Work today. Urgh

ememem84 · 05/11/2018 06:23

Good luck north x x

cag brave girl x x

This week I’m only working 2 days. Yay. But have loads to do before I leave the office on Tuesday. Booo. Luckily though loads of people are off today so it should be quiet so I should manage to just get my head down and get on with it.

I also need to buy a cork board today for our kitchen. So probably around £5.

Am also taking two illustrations for ds’ room to be framed. I bought these before I had him. A friend of dsis is an artist/illustrator and does some lovely things. So I bought a couple of prints from her.

There’s a framers just down the road from my office so that’s handy!

Homemade soup for lunch with a roll. Mm.

Wolfcub · 05/11/2018 06:35

Morning all

Cag I hope dentists goes well

Back to work today and I do not want to go

Unescorted · 05/11/2018 06:49

Good luck with the examNorth.

Cag hope the dentist is ok.

Lonely once it is knitted up it has saved you the money necessary to buy the item. This is how I justify fabric.

I am on holiday this week... I am not sure what to do mind.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/11/2018 06:59

Good luck North & Cag.

QuiteFabULousDahling · 05/11/2018 07:19

Morning !
Its very mild here.
Tuna and Feta salad plus a pitta for lunch .
Plus satsumas .
I cant stop eating them-they are really good and sour at the moment and not easy bloody peelers-pah!
Good luck with your examnorth and dentist Cag
Should be a NSD

LonelyOversharer · 05/11/2018 07:23

Thanks. I just feel so bloody guilty buying yarn when I have so much of it, and realistically little time for all the projects I plan, but pretty powerless to stop myself really. Pocket money it is!

Up, but going slow. Slept a lot last night.

Good luck north and cag crown fitting is easy, you won't even get numbed up. Do get the dentist to reassure you that the rest is healing well, and ask about food. I avoided nothing when my last tooth was pulled out in june.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 05/11/2018 07:43

Morning all.
It is pretty cold here and I will be out in the playground all day, so have wrapped up warm.
Lunch all ready, fresh salad with hummus and an apple.
Hoping for a NSD.
Have a good Monday everyone.

Bornlazy · 05/11/2018 08:12

Morning everyone. Had a LS weekend as was working, although still managed to buy a few Christmas presents online. Day off today so will catch up with some chores and, if I can bear it, tidy the cupboard of doom in my bedroom 🙈

Good luck Cag and North

Sneaky could you do some surveys to give you some more money - they don’t pay much but it’s better than nothing.

northender · 05/11/2018 09:09

Thanks everyone, the exam is at 1330 for 2 hours. It's the first formal exam I've taken since I qualified in 1992, any other post grad stuff I've done has been assignment based. Bit scary, just some last minute cramming to do now!
Good luck at the dentist Cag
Lonely my weakness is fabric & I'm on a buying ban at the moment until I use some of what I have, hence my festive patchwork frenzy!
Will check in when I'm home later.

Wolfcub · 05/11/2018 09:45

Broadband switched should save £3.50 a month and protect against price rises for a while

Wolfcub · 05/11/2018 09:45

Fingers crossed for you North
