Hi mammy my children are 11, 2 and 3 weeks. I do like discount codes and eBay but I still spend too much as I think I’ve got a bargain. I really need to rein it in.

WreckTangled · 23/10/2018 10:10

Hotchocolate it's only a bargain if you need it 😉

ememem84 · 23/10/2018 10:20

£26 Debenhams on a toaster. Via topcashback.

And I’ve given notice on the storage locker. So this will save us £156 a month.

warmleatherette · 23/10/2018 11:06

Decluttering day today. Such great joy as I hurl out five years' worth of broken toys. Spend so far £1.59 on binbags. I'm going to be RUTHLESS.

Yesterday was a no spend day. And a no-drink day! I've been spending far too much money and empty calories on wine. That, too, needs to stop. I definitely spend £40 a month on wine which I regard as vital to my positive mental health but, er, maybe I'm just deluding myself!

ememem84 · 23/10/2018 11:23

£66 boots on nappies, ponds cream for Dm and two stairgates.

Showered. Dressed. Moisturised (everywhere). washed hair. Wearing my leopard print jumper. Feeling a bit more myself.

PlinkPlink · 23/10/2018 11:23

Hi mammy , morning everyone!!

HotChocolate I did that too with the Grobags! No way am I gonna spend £30 on one grobag! 😂😂😂 I've gotten four for under £7 each. Need to get some more with higher toys now the cold is setting in the though.
I've started getting a few labels off eBay too. Some Ralph Lauren tops and even Quiz ones (love Quiz).

ememem84 · 23/10/2018 11:38

£17 amazon pantry on things we’ve used a lot of while we’ve been here with mum and dad. Crisps, biscuits, tonic water etc. Delivery on Monday.

ememem84 · 23/10/2018 11:41

hot I bought two of ds’ gro bags from eBay. And sold his old ones. Which I did buy new (he’s my pfb so the first ones were new obviously...!)

Tarriance · 23/10/2018 11:44

Fluffycloudland77 he does get lots of student discounts which is great - I just need to send him out to do all of the shopping! MUA is great and cruelty free too, which I try to stick to wherever possible. I have an eyeshadow pallet from there I love

TBH I don't wear make up day to day and I am currently using a sample size mascara; no 7 foundation I bought in the summer for my sisters wedding; a mini highlighter I got for Christams (yuck, I ought to throw that out!), an eye pencil I got free at an event & a body shop lip balm. Suggestions of budget bits to try very welcome

Remembered to grab my soup from the freezer this morning and bring some bread and fruit to work, but forgot to wear my glasses. Going to avoid going into shops today, and going to my parents' house for dinner. So that saves money surely? Grin

Hotchocolate86 · 23/10/2018 11:53

That’s very true wreck and something I seem to conveniently forget when I see a bargain but I definitely need to start reminding myself of it.
I can’t believe the cost of new grobags really. It’s definitely worth buying second hand. I do have lots of grobags from the 2 year old but the warmest ones are too big for the new baby. She won’t fit in it yet but it won’t be long I’m sure.

ememem84 · 23/10/2018 12:20

Sorted ds toys. And have listed a few on eBay. Anyone with a young baby on here in need of a tummy time roller pillow? Happy to gift if you give me a pm.

LonelyOversharer · 23/10/2018 12:38

Dropped dd1 at my parents. Spent £7 in the co-op on milk, sweets (the marshmallows with the strawberry gooey/gritty pink sugar stripe down the middle are my no.1 fave), and a euromillions ticket for tonigt. I know. I know. £2.50 gone forever.

Hitting Tu sale tomorrow after the orthodontist. Dd is sure her braces are coming off this time. She will need some placating if they don't!

LonelyOversharer · 23/10/2018 12:43

Oh, and I buckled and paid off my largest (£8.6k) credit card last night. Hopefully my current account accrued some interest in the meantime, but I wanted it paid. Still have 6k in there, to split between my asda and natwest cards. These are my "usual suspects" that I use online and just for asda. I've already largely paid these off, so will log in when I can be arsed to sort the rest.

ememem84 · 23/10/2018 12:55

Good work lonely

kitkat6 · 23/10/2018 13:17

All credit cards are now on 0% comes to a eyewatering nearly £20,000 nearly all acquired since going self employed two years ago, business is now in profit so the mission is now to get these paid off asap. It is doable in two years but am aiming for 18 months as we need to remortgage at that point and would rather check the whole market than do an internal product flip.

I have also set up my Plum savings and also penny saver on my current account so that at the end of each month I can use my penny saver to pay a bit more off the credit cards and use my plum savings to pay for any big expenditure and hopefully all of xmas 2019.

Next big mission is to create a list of cheap/free days our for weekend so that we can choose one at a weekend to go and do. This is where we spend a lot of money. I am thinking that I will get a couple of annual passes for some of our favourites.

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/10/2018 14:07

Hey, not sure if interest is back dated. I don't think so but I wouldn't put it past lenders. I think it's just when the 0 runs out. Check t&c

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/10/2018 14:08

Didn't mean to freak anyone

mammynowanauntyIRL · 23/10/2018 14:59

I think it is life but it's probably in the t&c's!

Decided to leave my topcashback in my paypal to cover next 3 months team rh subscription

lonely that's brilliant that the stress of debt is abated from your life, and you're able to refocus on your house, family and job.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 23/10/2018 15:00

No ticket for Pink wolf Sad should've bought my own on Saturday

AutumnLeaves12 · 23/10/2018 15:57

We're away on holiday now and living in a converted brick outhouse in someone's garden. It's very plush inside and definitely a brick outhouse outside. Just a bedroom and a kitchen with a little corridor in between, with a toilet and shower. There's a microwave, two rings and a fridge.

The man put bacon in the fridge for us arriving. Grin

£270 for the house and about £40 return for the train.

ememem84 · 23/10/2018 16:54

Just woken up from a nap. Necessary.

Uploaded docs to nsandi for the second time hopefully they accept them this time.

Dh has a present for me apparently. I’m intrigued to see what it is.
