Life's a bitch isn't it?

£11 gone from my account for definite to McColl's for electric, except when I was there the till crashed and the electric never went onto the key. So going to have to go back to McColl's and whinge.

ememem84 · 05/11/2018 10:37

FOllowed up with estate agent re WiFi. Old owners hadn’t cancelled their service. So we can’t get ours. Annoying. It should be a simple email to the company. But they haven’t bothered to do it. So have had a whinge.

Have also emailed lawyer re wills. And have been provided with a massive questionnaire to fill in. Hoorah.

So will need to complete and sit down with dh and go through it.

QuiteFabULousDahling · 05/11/2018 11:26

Lonely
Was it you who pointed out the tendency to buy crafty stuff/candles/homely stuff etc to compensate for lack of time to do it/create an illusion of comfort ?
Not worth if it makes you feel guilty .
I do love my yarn but feel so much better now that its under control and I carve out time for myself instead as thats what I need ultimately.

AutumnLeaves12 · 05/11/2018 11:30

I used to spend a lot of money on crafty stuff and musical instruments or sheet music and then feel very frustrated that I couldn't get the sense of satisfaction from the work that I wanted. I think part of the attraction of lego is that it's effective a craft kit that does give a sense of satisfaction at the end.

I'm really enjoying my clarinet playing at the moment as a form of craft that doesn't cost money. I'm really hoping that that doesn't come off the rails as previous musical efforts have.

prismWitch · 05/11/2018 12:22

Hi all, started to read this thread few days ago and I think I am a little bit hooked :). It feels so cozy here, can I join?

I am trying to be good recently and had to get my dh in order as he and money just seems to always part ways. We are expecting a second baby in May so need to get as much money in saving account as it is possible.

Hope this thread will keep me in check as last time I was on maternity leave I went crazy with spending. I was in a bad place psychologically and anything that promised a little bit of happiness became a must have.

Until it arrived... and stayed in box for weeks, becasue funny enough I didn't really need it. It only ocured to me what am I doing when baby was 1 and I had a whole garage full of amazon prime boxes.... The stuff that I got... Who absolutly needed a pencil sharpener that looks like a panda, when not using pencils at all, hands up! Just me then Grin

QuiteFabULousDahling · 05/11/2018 12:23

Welcome prism
That sounds very familiar!

AutumnLeaves12 · 05/11/2018 12:29

I just had a community paediatrican on the phone and she says ds is not ASD but has social communication disorder. We're to have a visit from a speech and language therapist.

I'm quite excited about that as ds has such interesting ideas and it would be great if he could learn how to tell us all about them more clearly. Gosh!

ememem84 · 05/11/2018 12:55

£6 post office

£157 on hotel overnight stay for dparents as a thank you for letting us stay and putting up with all our shit.

prismWitch · 05/11/2018 16:10

Nearly end of the work day and I just cannot wait. Dh is working from home and will pick up dd from nursery earlier so we can go and see fireworks display today. As I am already in city center, there is no point of me going back and forth just to be in a car with them.

It also means 1,5h only for myself and I plan to nip to tkmaxx to check if they have any nice Christmas dresses for my youngling. Last year I got a good bargain there and paid £14 for a beautiful dress. I feel like all the shop are trying to rip me off when I see a Christmas dress with a price tag between £20-£25 :/.

Wooohoooo fireworks! I hope it will not rain heavy Grin

Cagliostro · 05/11/2018 16:40

Not caught up yet. Went to dentist. Two words.
Dry.
Socket.
😭😡😷

AutumnLeaves12 · 05/11/2018 17:02

oh no! Poor you Cag. I read about that when ds had his tooth out. Isn't it meant to be easy to take the pain away by putting something over the top? I can't remember what the documentation said. I hope it feels better soon. Flowers

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/11/2018 17:02

Hi Prism

17p on spring water.

How bad is the pain Cag?

Cagliostro · 05/11/2018 17:06

I’d say permanently uncomfortable, nowhere near as bad as I thought given what I’d read online etc but yeah ouch. Am dozing myself up on ibuprofen anyway. Apparently the antibiotics I’ve been prescribed are pretty rough as well so I think I’ll be staying in the next few days Hmm (doctor tomorrow then I’ll pick them up)

Also the crown fitting didn’t work 😣 so they took another impression and I’ve to go back in a fortnight for another try. The exemption certificate will have run out by then (Cagletini was due on 11th) but he said that as it’s part of the same procedure it’s covered.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 05/11/2018 17:25

I'd some great financial news today - the SPCC tax credit was applied to my pps # so I'll pay €31.73 less per week in tax and I'll also get an extra €4k added to my tax band at 20% so combined with finishing 2.5 hours earlier once a week, I'll only hit it in December this year instead of about now as per usual Grin. I wait impatiently to see if I get a refund from date of separation or not!

Yesterday was a NSD but I need to buy gas for the hob today, approx €30. I also updated my personal YNAB to include household expenses as I purchased a duvet cover set, 2 pillow cases and a fitted sheet for the spare room from Michael Guineys €22.89 including delivery. Want to make the room nice for parents staying but also for when it's being viewed too.

Googled pohutakawa em they're fabulous

Hope dentist went ok cag

north hope exam went well for you

born hope you sorted out cupboard of doom - I didn't sort my bedroom out yet, it was on my list for yesterday but I thought spare room only need a quick sweep and floor mopped but it needed much much more than that. Need to tackle it with bin bags also as there's stuff there from dc and they moved into the room next door about 3 years ago.

School sent a text for used clothes collection next week too, so I'm going to use that to drive me on! Will finish this post later

ememem84 · 05/11/2018 17:33

Ouch cag poor you xxx

mammy they are rather aren’t they?

Welcome prism

£25 WHSmith on a cork board some command strips to stick it up with and 6 dark chocolate oranges for this evening Christmas.

Waiting to pick dh up so we can go get ds. Dparents took him swimming today. Dm sent a picture of after swimming. He looked exhausted! Haha. So early bedtime I think!

I’ve sorted out internet issue. Lawyers have sent me a copy of the contract which was registered showing us as new owners and I can send to the phone company as evidence and they can kick the old line off. Hurrah! So hopefully by mid next week I’ll be back online properly (although I have a shit ton of data so never went offline....)

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/11/2018 17:43

Welcome prism. What's that about spending??? Eh eh tkmaxx is tempting Central.

Ouchy cag. Don't exemptions run to the end of the edd month anyway?

Great news mammy

Nsd but tried on the skirt. Just about to order. £175 childcare but £78 is vouchers. Got my 22p joke, just feels like it back pay.

SneakyGremlins · 05/11/2018 17:43

Bought two 17p lemonade bottles from Aldi today!

AutumnLeaves12 · 05/11/2018 17:53

Our oven fan has packed up and it's to be £200 to replace. This must be why gas is cheaper.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 05/11/2018 18:00

Totally echo everyone's thoughts on crafting spends I used to spend a lot on recipe books & magazines but stopped because although they brought me pleasure I wasn't using them at all & they were just adding to the clutter.

I plan a bookshelf to house all of them in my next house.

Same re cross stitching stuff I've got enough for right now.

Welcome @prismWitch
Congrats on baby #2

Cag hope dry socket goes away soon , great it'll be still covered

€29.95 on gas but I succeeded in only buying the gas I went in for. Didn't support local shop because i didn't have any cash. I always do though so don't feel too bad.

Wolfcub · 05/11/2018 18:09

Life that’s how I feel about the backpay too

Mammy great news on the tax

Cag ouch just ouch! Look after yourself

Welcome Prism

I recognise both the woool and cookery mag/book buying as problems for myself. I’ve been better since I’ve been on here

Totally knackering and long first day back. Got a bit cross at the total lack of action on a major piece of work in my absence and the lack of support given to the person doing it.

Up at 4am tomorrow so must try and get an early night. Codeine is giving me a few hours of relatively pain free sleep until about 2 or 3am but at the cost of some totally wacky dreams.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/11/2018 18:15

That's so me with cooking magazines and books. For the life I aspire to not the one I have.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 05/11/2018 18:26

That's it life the life we aspire to - lovely dinners that everyone in the house eats Grin

mammynowanauntyIRL · 05/11/2018 18:27

I've changed the gas here countless times in the ten years we're living here, first time since h moved out & it's not bloody working Angry

mammynowanauntyIRL · 05/11/2018 18:28

That backpay sounds like an insult

QuiteFabULousDahling · 05/11/2018 18:38

life thats what Instagram is for and its free ...Grin
