mammy As a vegan who doesn't like mushrooms, that sounds great to me - perhaps swap the mush for lentils or beans?

mammynowanauntyIRL · 06/11/2018 11:30

moimichme she definitely loves beans & lentils will do something like that.

Think you can get underpants that small alright, no harm if they're a bit roomy anyhow easier for him to pull them up and down

ememem84 · 06/11/2018 11:33

Refund of £271 back to our account for the storage locker. Wahoo.

The boss bought me a coffee this morning. Yay. And a flapjack.

I have the next 3 days off. I think he’s buttering me up to ask me to work tomorrow because everyone is off sick....

kitkat6 · 06/11/2018 12:23

It is going to be an expensive day!!

The alternator broke on the car on Friday so I am going to pick up the refurbished one today which will be the best part of £100!! Also need to pick up some bits for darling ponies

Wolfcub · 06/11/2018 17:02

£7 dinner at station which I can reclaim and £5 on sweets which I can’t. Hopefully one of them (giant laces) survives for ds.

Cag I didn’t get on with flashpoint at all. I’m fact I don’t think any of us did.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 06/11/2018 17:26

Bit quiet here today? Where is everyone?!

Work hectic but a nsd at last!

mammynowanauntyIRL · 06/11/2018 17:47

@cag ooh love yesbebe Grin

ChristmasSeacow · 06/11/2018 17:49

It is quiet Girlie! I’m finding it difficult to get on mn (or t’interweb in general) because the minute DD (permanently glued to me) sees my phone she shouts ‘pictures!!!’ And I then have to spend the next 30 mins looking at photos with her 😬. Right now she is distracted by eating watermelon so I am seizing the moment.

I was a bit shocked by my credit are bill at the end of last month - all okay because we have savings but much more than I really want it to be. So back to basics now and trying to spend much less. October was expensive - new coats for both dc, shoes for me for work, and some boots... but I don’t think there’s anything we really need unless DD’s feet grow again. Just a 40th present for BIL (SIL has asked for money towards what she’s getting him Hmm) and a few more Christmas presents - I am not too far from sorted though.

I bought water wipes today - 2 packs for £5.40 ShockShock. Dd has awful eczema on her face though so I thought I’d try them.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 06/11/2018 18:17

Evening all.

Work was full on today.
My only spend was £1.35, on 2 bottles of superdrug body wash, which isn't bad considering I haven't had to buy any since last Christmas, as I got loads as presents.

Lovemaltesers · 06/11/2018 18:26

Busy here at the moment. Work is stressful and last minute/chaotic at the moment.

I've decided I need to have a no spend on "stuff" until Christmas. So just buying food and essentials. I'm also trying to use up smellies /candles etc from last Christmas before they get replaced with stuff I wouldn't choose again. I have no time to clothes shop so that helps!

£2 Sainsbury's
£1.10 Tesco

Lovemaltesers · 06/11/2018 18:27

Also I think the DC now have enough clothes to last until we see if they get any for Christmas

AdoraBell · 06/11/2018 18:42

£3.50 ish on coffee and pastry while running errands.
£2.50 ish in the bakers

Food delivered yesterday, £73 ish

I have a stinking cold so those figures are a guesstimate.

Justanothermile · 06/11/2018 19:03

I'm here too, but super busy, so not reading or posting as much as I should.

My mother had a fall at the weekend and broke her nose in two places and damaged her knee, it was a right old tumble, so I'm there daily checking her. I have a fractious relationship at best, but one thing I've got to admire is she absolutely refuses to be treated like an old person, invalid or deserving of sympathy - she's absolutely the WW2 generation, she just gets on with it. She's going out tomorrow as she's fed up now of being in the house, why the bloody hell am I calling in on her, no she can do her own bloody shopping etc.

Good for her, in that respect. I'm not dissimilar, so can't criticise.

Spends are minimal but about £30 since the weekend.

My mother gave me all the tins that she'd been given from the harvest festival. Because she's an old person, the church in the village give her a basket of food, which pisses her off no end! But we are having chickpea curry with rice 'free' for tea tonight.

Bornlazy · 06/11/2018 19:05

Spends today - £48 Lidl, £6 Aldi and £17.50 on my half of flowers for my Aunt’s birthday.

Had a go at making pork burgers tonight they were ok but slightly tasteless. They were cheap though. Have never used minced pork before as I think it looks wrong somehow but might try it in other things now.

Sea if you go down the water wipes route Amazon do them for about £2 a pack. Still a fortune but not quite as bad.

AutumnLeaves12 · 06/11/2018 19:12

I had my last clarinet lesson before my exam today, which is booked for tomorrow. Ds has stopped eating and claims that he is "fine" so I'm fretting about whether he is coming down with something at the 11th hour.

The lesson was £35 but it was really good.

ememem84 · 06/11/2018 19:23

Penultimate training session for me tonight. Logistically now we’ve moved it’s not convenient anymore. So am going to continue my gym membership until it runs out in December and then look for a new gym closer to work so I can go at lunchtimes.

£18 on dh’s Amex in M&S on best and socks for ds. We now know M&S takes Amex. Yay.

I’m on a no “stuff” for myself ban until the new year. Unless necessary.

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/11/2018 19:56

£3.90 3 boxes of cereal
£4.97 on 2 mince, tomatoes and 7 bananas.

Fair play to you for going Jam. I wouldn’t have.

Justanothermile · 06/11/2018 20:03

I'm the better person fluffy, I'll live and treat others by my values, not hers. She wins otherwise.

Or, I'm a sucker for some sort of validation.....

ChristmasSeacow · 06/11/2018 20:04

Thanks Born, I noticed Ocado has an offer on at the mo but if they make a difference I’ll probably have to continue and I hadn’t thought of Amazon. Might invest in some cheeky wipes for cleaning up after meals at home though, I just wonder whether I can keep up with the laundry now I’m also working. I’ll think about it. I think I’ll have to take DD to the Gp this week anyway, it’s looking really bad so she may need a bit of steroid cream. I’m sure it must have been triggered by her recent illnesses Confused. I hadn’t been to the Gp for years (even with DS) but at this rate they are going to be dedicating a special waiting room chair to us!

I make pork burgers occasionally and I find it helps if you flavour with something like a bit of grated apple.

I also need to spend nothing on myself till after Christmas Em. Truthfully I will find that really hard but I think I need to reintroduce some discipline as I’ve taken my eye off the ball recently.

Your mum sounds tough Jam (in a good way!) . Falls can be really nasty for the elderly, not just the injuries but the effect on confidence.

Hope you are feeling better Cag. I don’t actually know what a dry socket is but not sure I want to!!!

Good luck tomorrow Autumn

QuiteFabULousDahling · 06/11/2018 20:07

Jam Im going to be like yor DM Grin
How patronising to give her tins just because she is elderly Hmm
I thought it went to food banks now ?
I have to ask what water wipes are?

Ive upped my exercise again to fight with Winter -bouncing around here !

ememem84 · 06/11/2018 20:29

sea we do waterwipes on a subscribe and save on amazon. I think we get 24 packs every couple of months. I keep a pack in the car, Dm has a few, Nursery need us to provide own wipes and we use them at home so it works out cheapest this way.

Im “allowed” to spend on myself if it’s something I need and have run out of. I’m good for toiletries and have asked Dm for very specific things for hristmas (face cream and vouchers). She will stock us up on pants and slippers and a pair of jammies.

I am “allowed” to buy clothes if using vouchers.

In the new year I’m going to make a conscious effort to shop more on eBay and charity shops. Except for shoes underwear and T-shirt’s.

I have enough “stuff” and does it make me any happier? Nope.

I’m saving for my new tattoo. I want some more birds on my arm.

ChristmasSeacow · 06/11/2018 20:58

Quite they are baby wipes that are basically just water, so the least additive-y ones on the market (and no detergent, which is what I think is aggravating DD’s skin). For something with fewer ingredients they manage to be blardy expensive. I wouldn’t use them if DD wasn’t having ill effects from normal ones.

I’ve had a really mixed experience of clothes from eBay Em. Some things have been brilliant but not uncommonly, some have been in rather disappointing condition. Same with buying second hand stuff for DD. I’m not a fan of other people’s stains. Maybe I should stick to BNWT.

I’ll obviously buy necessary consumable things like shampoo but I think I have to have a ban on clothes, other than any necessary underwear (I am shrinking out of my bras!)

Wolfcub · 06/11/2018 21:13

Sea has dd been having any food with tomato or orange in? They can really aggravate eczema because of the high acidity.

ememem84 · 06/11/2018 21:20

Same here actually sea but I work on the basis that for every 1 “bad” item I get I’ve managed to score 5 absolute bargains!

I’m on the look out for a joules jumper for Christmas.

It is windy as hell here. Catface is freaking out.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 06/11/2018 21:39

Ahh there you all 😀

jam you are definitely the better person, how old is your mum?

I felt like that with my dd sea we were always down the Dr's, I'm sure he inwardly groaned when he saw her name 😂

Good luck with the exam autumn dd sometimes randomly doesn't want any dinner, sometimes I guess they're just not hungry.

I've just booked myself another massage, it was on offer for NHS staff £20 and my neck feels awful again so....

Dd handled a tricky friendship issue well tonight, was really proud of her.
