AutumnLeaves12 · 30/10/2018 06:49

My ds managed to sleep until 6am in spite of the clock change. Yay!

AutumnLeaves12 · 30/10/2018 07:14

Could I tell you a small parenting niceness from chezAutumn?

I taught ds this week that gentlemen let ladies go through doors before them and that that is a thing that makes me feel particularly good.

Then this morning ds insisted that I go through the kitchen door before him when we came down in the morning.

Then he stood up on a chair to get something to eat out of the cupboard, and I gave him a hug from behind and said "Thank you for that, it makes me feel loved."

and without turning round, he just said "You are."

That's nice isn't it? He's 8.

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/10/2018 07:28

We are off to a national trust today. Wray castle. Pic nic will be packed. Soup and sandwich as it's cold.

12 yesterday in a different NT shop. Used my gift card in the tea shop £12.

Gws poorly frugaleer.
Hope you get some work done sea.
I get tension headaches too. They are a bugger to get rid of.

WreckTangled · 30/10/2018 07:29

Ds is still asleep. He fell asleep promptly at 6:30 last night.

Work today dh is having the day off to stay home with ds.

LonelyOversharer · 30/10/2018 07:35

Woke to torrential rain in the night, so I hope it hasn't subsequently frozen. Bit late up, but lunches done. Must dig out some inner tubes to post today (they are late). Right, sitting here isn't getting the dogs fed, or getting me dressed.

I think I must have yanked my shoulder when we heaved and dropped that engine. Its very painful in an uncharacteristic way for me.

Hoping for a lsd, but there are things we are running out of. Must be time for an asda order.

Cagliostro · 30/10/2018 08:03

Aww autumn that’s sweet!

Sympathies on the headache. Hope it continues to ease up. That was the worst part of yesterday TBH, obviously I couldn’t feel any pain in my mouth, but I had a horrific headache due to the drilling/pressure etc and the bright lights too. I was tempted to ask for more local anaesthetic just stabbed into my face haha. Better today though, will keep dosed up for a bit as still achy but I slept well (other than baby waking up of course 🙄 her sleeping 10 hours straight the other night was a one off it seems 😡). Tesco has arrived (DH is up, I’m not) and I ordered lots of easy to eat, non chewy/crunchy stuff.

DD and DH had exactly the same progression for migraines (as in everything, sickness sleepiness etc happened in the same order) and they were definitely triggered by stress. It was DD’s that caused us to pull her out of school, not the illness itself but it made us see how stressed she was. She’s only had one since leaving and that was when one of the neighbour kids bullied her horrifically one afternoon and she said it felt just like being back at school. DH got them frequently from 5-34, he was chosen for drug trials and stuff, but hasn’t had a single one since we got together #bestwife #smug

I should really get up as we are looking after a friend this morning. Then another friend coming this afternoon. Then people coming round after art class tomorrow. Then busy Thursday and a party on Friday. I am going to be horrifically peopled out by the weekend aren’t I. Hmm

Hope you got some sleep seacow

Intrigued by this comedy workshop unescorted sounds cool!

sandgrown · 30/10/2018 08:10

Lonely . I am sure you know but the Nectar point double up at Sainsbury is in a couple of weeks. I have been hanging on to my points !

Justabadwife · 30/10/2018 08:24

Hope all the ill people are feeling more human this morning 🍰

Giving dd £2 for sweets after school.
DH needs an ice scraper for the car and I will buy a drink today.
So total spends for today shouldn't be more than £5. 😁

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 30/10/2018 08:24

That's really sweet autumn

Poor you cag getting all that work done on your mouth, I hate the dentist.

seacow I don't know how you cope on such little sleep, I would be a dribbling wreck rocking in a corner somewhere on 3 hours kip!! I feel deprived on less than 7 hours 😂

Not a lot planned today but going to get up and have a look for some coats and go into town so could be spendy. ..

AutumnLeaves12 · 30/10/2018 08:39

Thanks Girlie and Cag. Those little nice parenting bits really help when the other more complicated bits happen. Smile

WereWolfcub · 30/10/2018 09:36

Morning all. I confess I haven’t got out of bed yet but I can feel it’s chilly (window always open).

Sea I hope you got some sleep and good luck with finalising today. I sometimes find things write themselves in my head when I take a bit of time away.

Life I like Wray, we’ve camped at Low Wray before now.

Autumn that’s very sweet indeed

Lonely that does not seem like much for three hours work. Look after yourself and your shoulder today.

Girlie have a lovelyhalf term day. We are planning relative quiet too. Ds is making models which will involve me needing to be in a different room as the glue makes me want to Envy (not envy) and I’m down to less than 10p in eAch of my accounts. I do have a little bit in my wallet to perhaps do something tomorrow

Need to put in an online shopping order later and will be spending the day sat on a hot water bottle as my hip is ouchy after being out walking in the cold

Unescorted the comedy class sounds intriguing

Welcome to all newbies I may have missed recently

Have a happy and frugal Tuesday lovely people

Just continued working on DD’s frugal Halloween costume. I may have set fire to the secondary school blazer. Cathartic :o

kitkat6 · 30/10/2018 10:17

autumn what a lovely sounding son you have.

My no spend day yesterday got rather ruined as I forgot that I had a hairdressers appointment in the afternoon. I do feel very groomed and infinitely more presentable today especially as she curled my hair so I have managed to not ruin it before a client appointment this afternoon. I do wish I could get my hair professionally blow dried twice a week. One of my friends mum doesn't own shampoo, she is one of those perfectly groomed people.

Wrongwayup · 30/10/2018 11:03

fallen off recently - in more ways than one! - payday tomorrow thank goodness. £12 left and car on fumes, but only need to do one short journey today. have enough food - both human and animal. sorry so many are under the weather - tis the season for it

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/10/2018 11:08

Nsd & I’ve realised I can deposit cash into my Halifax account at the post office which saves me a 30 mile round trip tomorrow.

Unescorted Im seriously impressed at writing comedy.

WereWolfcub · 30/10/2018 11:19

DH is making meringue with the Caglets and their friend and they’ll pipe it into ghost shapes. Later making banana ghosts and mummy pizza pies.

Couldn’t get tinned lychees anywhere. The one time I actually want them (eyeballs) 🙄

Currently on hold to housing trust as some people are cleaning the fronts of the houses, and want access to the back garden too. And had no ID. So I’m speaking to them to check if they actually sent anyone.

Also I got a refund on a Tesco sub, as they didn’t actually tell DH about it when they dropped the delivery off. They’d subbed a Halloween cupcake thing for Christmas icing decorations 🙄😂

Cagliostro · 30/10/2018 12:04

Sooo the lady at the HA couldn’t see any evidence of letters etc that they would normally send to inform of any maintenance. And no ID, no access. As they could be anyone scoping out for burglary etc. They are doing the front atm (fine by me 😂) but when they ask to be let in the gate to do the back, I will have to say no. The lady said, even if they are legit, if they are annoyed about having to come back then it’s their own fault for not having ID anyway 🤷‍♀️ All they had was a printed out spreadsheet of addresses and a generic hi viz jacket. TBH they’d have to come back anyway as other people aren’t home to let them into their gardens.

ChristmasSeacow · 30/10/2018 12:06

I feel really guilty - Halloween is cancelled st our place this year. Everyone is sick, work deadline and no time to do pumpkins. But I know DS always loves the pumpkins even though he doesn’t go trick or treating Sad

Well, I’ve just sent my draft off as it is but I still have several solid days of writing to do by Thursday Hmm. And it’s fair to say I look pretty rough today. DH is coming okaybwith DD though, phew!

20% off boots at Clark’s. I’m going in... my new shoes have been quite a success with the bad feet so I’m keen to try boots. I really miss wearing boots!

WereWolfcub · 30/10/2018 12:19

Sea you have a lot on. Don’t feel guilty. If necessary there will still be pumpkins around after Thursday and ds oculd carve one for weekend

Cag well done on checking in to make sure they are legit. As you say if they are real they can always do the back next time

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 30/10/2018 12:31

Well I told them and actually they were ok, surprised but ok. Said they’ll come back another day rather than later today (which is good as DH has just gone to work, he was only out at Asda when they first knocked).

Just going to make pizza, feel a bit wobbly (I don’t do assertiveness!)

Sorry about Halloween, would he mind doing Halloween at home in a few days when everyone’s better? Pumpkin, sweets etc?

ChristmasSeacow · 30/10/2018 12:46

You’re both right, he probably won’t notice a change of date and the baby definitely won’t. She’s (I’ve!) been reading ‘Peppa’s pumpkin party’ a lot so I’d like her to see a pumpkin lantern irl. If the pumpkins aren’t squashy by the weekend we’ll do that, thanks! I love the idea of meringue ghosts too, might steal that one. I won’t overly miss the trick or treaters tomorrow, though I have a diet-endangering stash of mini chocolate bars now. It will take us literally months to get through them!

Oh, and it’s our local fireworks on Sunday, should be a lovely weekend for the rugrats. ☺️

AutumnLeaves12 · 30/10/2018 12:48

Halloween is cancelled here too because there were too many gory costumes last week and ds has just washed his hands of the whole affair. I've to phone the grandparents and ask if we can do there instead. I should do that now really.
