Sorted broadband. I think it’s cheaper than our old one (same compan). So we should officially be back online in 10/15 working days.

Have also topped up my premium bonds account with the max allowable. It’s the leftovers from house sale so had to go somewhere. And was earning little to no interest in the bank.

Dh has set up our investment account.

I am wearing a lovely dress today. It looks awesome. However it will be relegated to the charity shop. I have to take the whole bloody thing off to pee. It’s a bit tight round the legs and bum so can pull it up but can’t wiggle it down #fatarse

It isn’t too much of a shame as was an eBay one I got for £2.

AutumnLeaves12 · 30/10/2018 13:42

That's hilarious Em. Grin I remember clothes like that. I had a lot of trouble with those "bodies" that snapped underneath in the 1980s. And also I once made myself an evening dress that was so tight that dh had to cut me out of it.

We have halloween plans now.

I have also secured the means to grow pondweed indoors, which is critical for my current paying work. (!?)

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 30/10/2018 14:10

Don't feel bad seacow you're honestly doing so much atm something has to give! Halloween can wait a few more days plus you'll be able to pick up pumpkins for pence next week 😉

Dd is currently doing another pumpkin and I'm planning on making a pumpkin and lentil soup later.... the toasted pumpkin seeds I made last week are surprisingly delicious so going to make some more later.

Busy morning here, went to Go Outdoors and found myself a coat, it's a Regatta one and was £40, dd also found one she liked but my saintly mother bought it for her.

Other spends
£2.50 on a coin for dd (she is still collecting them!)
£6 in Greggs, am so annoyed as they over charged me but I couldn't add up quickly enough to query it at the till! They over charged by £1.50 😬
£2.50 morrisons
£1.50 on bird seed
£33 Aldi

Home now and have run out of steam, dd happy doing her pumpkin and going to do some Halloween cupcakes later.

WreckTangled · 30/10/2018 16:05

Sea definitely just do a pumpkin at the weekend if you can they won't know the difference.

Stressful day at work with system changed that don't work etc ffs. Will just keep doing it and raise it as an incident if it doesn't get any better.

Nsd and FRUGAL WIN! Waiting by the vending machine for dd to go to the loo before swimming and notice it saying '£1.00 make your selections' so I did 😁 free bag of hula hoops. Yum!

mammynowanauntyIRL · 30/10/2018 17:43

Woohoo wreck

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/10/2018 17:58

Free food is my favourite food.

There’s still 50p off pumpkins in Tesco and Sainsbury’s on the green jinn app. I hate pumpkin.

We carved swedes when I was young.

Girlie email Customer services. Why should pay more? £1.50 would buy some Greggs stuff in Iceland. I think Iceland do the blue card discount too.

LonelyOversharer · 30/10/2018 18:02

What is this nectar double up of which you speak?? Please explain as my brain and eyes are hurting from work, and I cannot be arsed to google!

Sent dp to Lidl with a list and £30. He bought me my pain aux chocolate and made a tasty tea, ready when I got in, so he will survive the night.

Just ordered £160 stuff from the amazon...3 cossies for us to try (should fit either me, dd1 or dd2, or returned), loads of kids dvd's to replace sticky jumpy ones, some wall stickers and £80 tools for dp. I have some of his ebay sales money in my paypal, so I'll pay that onto my card.

WereWolfcub · 30/10/2018 18:38

In thinking I may use double up to replace my highly overrated dialog toaster which only toasts properly on the third Thursday of the month when it's in the mood

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 30/10/2018 18:48

Yeah not sure I can be bothered this time fluffy plus in the next shop I went to she gave me £1 too much change so I only feel 50p out of pocket 😂

Busy afternoon here, made lentil and pumpkin soup which was really nice even dd approved! Dd made some Halloween cupcakes which look great, I'm staying out of the kitchen for a bit though as it looks like a bombs gone off 😮

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 30/10/2018 18:49

Evening all.
My only spend today was bus fare £1.50, as it was just too cold to walk home. We usually only get the bus on Wednesday due to a club.

Hope all poorly frugaleers feel better really soon.

AutumnLeaves12 · 30/10/2018 18:56

fluffy we carved swedes too, but called them turnips. I had forgotten that. It was like carving marble. Them were the days.

I just left ds at cubs where they are doing apple bobbing. He is not going to like apple bobbing one tiny bit. Might just nip back a bit early, as it's happening at the end.

LonelyOversharer · 30/10/2018 19:37

Oh holy cow, so I can swap £51 into £102 and spend it on clothes for the dc for christmas?? EPIC!

Thankyou for helping me get £50 of free money (well £100 as you don't buy nectar points in the first place). am going to check my e rewards account, I think I'm one survey off £10 there too...

WereWolfcub · 30/10/2018 19:38

Lonely just be careful that you will spend everything you swap and that you can spend it on what you can. Once converted you can’t convert them back and you can’t spend outside the designated lines

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 30/10/2018 19:50

It's round numbers lonely so £50 into £100. I take a calculator in with me, go round the department I want, put my stuff into the trolley, add it up as I go, get the vouchers at customer service then go and pay at the till. Never swap too many vouchers then

CBA to go to Sainsbury's in Penrith but will go when at home and get some stuff for the festive season.

Can they be used online this year though? Get a Tu delivery, although stock is usually low after the 25%

I shop in Sainsbury's too often.

The tea shop at wray is much improved. £10 there, £60 on dinner as both DC now have adult meals, £35 Morrison's as they decided to do Halloween and I haven't brought owt.

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/10/2018 19:51

I separate each department into an area of my trolly too.

LonelyOversharer · 30/10/2018 20:01

Thankyou for all the tips! I knew nothing about this. I just transferred £10 to nectar from e rewards, so if it credits in time, will be an extra £20! I can easily spend £120 in Tu on clothes for the dc. Might get a ps4 game for the boy...so they do the vouchers there and then at customer services? Fab christmas stuff for free!

LonelyOversharer · 30/10/2018 20:03

Theres a Sainsburys in Penrith ?? Who knew! We don't go there often to be fair.

ememem84 · 30/10/2018 21:14

Evening.

Spends today £1 post office.

(And technically a lot on broadband but no actual money moved)

Gymmed today - lots of core stretching. So will ache a bit tomorrow.

No headache today. Touch wood.

Have just looked at boots online. I need a new eyebrow pencil. Figured ordering online would be a good idea so as to stop me spending so much.

£10 extra points when I buy two Clinique products. I use this. Starting to prefer to clarins. So it wouldn’t be money wasted. But. Do I really need it? No.

I’ve also remembered today that this payday I should get the 10% of my pay they held back per month while I was on maternity leave. Hooray! Will chase up on that. Our accounts lady is usually pretty good so shouldn’t have to but will check.

Unescorted · 30/10/2018 21:57

lonely best place to park in Penrith. 3 hours free. No purchase necessary. You can thank my colleagues for this.... they were so sick of over running meetings resulting in parking tickets. As you turn into Victoria Rd you can see 2 of my projects.

The comedy workshop is so much fun...a laugh even. It is really cathartic because you have to dig into your darkest recesses to find material. I haven't yet thought about a final set theme but a lot of my material is about being a failed mother and hitting menopause. I might put a bit in about being a perferct spy..... Just need a tie together. Possibly invisibility / not being noticed .... homework needs to be done me thinks.

Wreck a deep dive has located a jumper. It is an archaeological dig in there...life in layers. Pm me your address and I will post it over.
Em glad you headache has subsided.

Go team sea.... Hope they like the draft.

LonelyOversharer · 30/10/2018 22:22

Oh cool unescorted I quite like some of the quirky shops, so will go down for a bit of Christmas shopping. Just up and over Hartside from me. Done once on my bike. Ne-eh-eh-ver again.

Not happy with the bake off result, but it was predictable. Kim-Joy should have won imo. Built dd3's draws while we watched this. Now the floor needs painting, table made, and at the weekend finish the wall off, which is now lovely and dry. I will finish this room.

Unescorted · 30/10/2018 22:42

That is a hefty way.

I didn't think it was the right result either. He should have been out weeks ago when he had the burnt mare session. Did you see the rolly eyes between Kim Joy and Ruby when they were doing Rahuls feedback. Not all was happy in the house of bake off.

ChristmasSeacow · 31/10/2018 00:23

I was also disappointed in the Bake Off result. I felt the judges were ‘positioning’ their comments on the showstoppers in order to justify a pre-determined result. It made me a bit cross actually . I’m trying to pluck up the courage to apply next year but actually I don’t think the family waistlines could withstand the deluge of practice bakes!

Still writing my document but am going to stop at 1am unless I am seriously on a roll. Which is highly unlikely. Need a solid 5 hours sleep tonight or my brain will give up completely.

£4.40 on two cups of tea in Costa today. Not bad for 5 hours of sitting there (a bit cheeky but it was never full, I wouldn’t have hogged a table if it had been). Then I went to the library but that coincided with the after-school kids and there were no sockets near tables so I won’t bother with that again. Also £8 on top ups of fruit and Ribena as a treat for poorly DH. He’s on the mend but still a bit wobbly. He actually looks visibly thinner! Mum is also feeling much better so at least I have childcare tomorrow. Phew.

Unescorted I’m really impressed about the comedy, who is your audience?

Interesting about the double up at Sainsbury’s. I have loads of points (almost £150) and the thing I like best is Sainsbury’s clothes but my nearest branches always have crap stock levels. I have to buy it online and collect in store - I don’t suppose I can do that with the double up, can I? Shame I don’t need any electronics at the moment. Or booze. Hmmm.

I added up the value of loyalty cards, club card vouchers and JL vouchers from using my credit card and it is A LOT. Amazing to think some people don’t bother. I am waiting for something interesting to spend it on. I must get better st cashback sites but I am using kidstart quite a lot, so that’s something at least.,

I did some ‘I’m working hard and I deserve it’ spends today Blush. I bought a new bobble hat, scarf and lovely long gloves from Gap (cheery grey and rainbow stripes). They’ve got 40% off everything at the moment which is pretty good. Not that I’m encouraging any of you, definitely not. No.

I’m in the office tomorrow, I’ve made my packed lunch and picked my clothes out, so I’m hoping for a smooth start to the day 😇.

For now though, back to the writing... ug.

ememem84 · 31/10/2018 06:22

Morning all.

This getting up before everyone else malarkey seems to be working for me. I’ve fed catface and done her box, put the dryer on (things aren’t dry and it’s the third time around....maybe I’ll read the manual...or buy a spin dryer), emptied dishwasher and am now having A cup of tea on the couch.

At 630 I’ll go up and start getting dressed etc. Clothes and bag all laid out last night. Or clothes all planned out in my head. Have nowhere to actually lay them out.

Hoping for a quiet day today where I can get on with things. I’m not in the office tomorrow, at a conference all day, so need to get stuff done today. I made a list yesterday of all the frogs I’ve got to eat today. So will get on.

Email from nursery today too. Sadly one of The baby team won’t be working there any more. She didn’t meet their high standards. Which sounds brutal in the email but I hope it wasn’t as brutal as that. She was lovely too. Super kind and friendly.

I didn’t watch bake off but read the result. I knew that would happen. As soon as Manon was ejected from the tent I knew. I’m annoyed a little. But not too much it will ruin my day.

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/10/2018 06:31

Do both Em. It’s possibly set too low to dry but the drier it is when it goes in the better for your bills.

Homeware is on the nectar double up too.
