Oh my goodness Cag. That is a lot at once. Maybe have a lie down now and let your nervous system recover a bit if you can?

Justabadwife · 29/10/2018 13:25

I really need to stick to not spending money, but I just can't. I mean I deffo needed them 3 massive storage boxes I bought the other day that are sat in the outside toilet still waiting to be used . 😂🤔
I spend less when I have the cash. So I took £50 out of the bank this morning, bought a pie and a drink. Need bin bags. Shouldn't need anything else all week, maybe milk should invest in a cow the rate they drink milk in my house 🤢
Hopefully I will have about £20 left at the end of the week to put towards the CC bill.

Justanothermile · 29/10/2018 13:47

Hello moi, welcome to our friendly thread. We are vegan too here, I usually post my menu plan for the week and happy to share recipes. It does make a huge difference to the weekly budget, you can even plan breakfasts, lunches etc. I've found even the more expensive vegan ingredients usually work out cheaper than meat alternatives, never mind when you add in the cheap staples like pulses and lentils etc.

Ouch cag, take care. Hoping it's short term pain for long term gain though.

Great tip kitkat

NSD.

ChristmasSeacow · 29/10/2018 14:02

Welcome, new people!

Cag that is a lot of dentistry. Painkillers and sucking chocolate when you feel you can, that’s my recommendation Wink

Great news on the grant Autumn.

I am really quite behind with my project report. I need a full draft by tomorrow and suspect this will require me to be up all night. I only had 3 hrs sleep last night as I worked till 3am crunching numbers my favourite bit . Also my mum is still too ill with the family vomiting bug to look after dd tomorrow. So I asked DH to take a day’s leave. But he’s just come home from the office sick (first time off he’s ever had for sickness in the 21 years since he stared working, so it must be bad Shock. He looks terrible. I suspect I’m going to be looking after them both tomorrow. I’m not usually one to get stressed under pressure but this isn’t looking great, I can’t see how I can possibly manage it!

Its pretty cold working at home too. Heating is off - DH is in bed but burning up so he doesn’t want the heating on. I, on the other hand, am wondering where I put my gloves!

AutumnLeaves12 · 29/10/2018 14:53

Oh dear Christmas. Take care there. That sounds like a lot at once.

WreckTangled · 29/10/2018 15:53

Ds has managed to lose both school jumpers, his pe shorts and pe trainers. I'm so cross. They're really clearly labelled and we can't afford to replace them even with cheap things 😡😡😡

Cagliostro · 29/10/2018 16:10

That sucks wreck I remember the fear of losing stuff. Even the cheap stuff adds up fast doesn’t it :(

God seacow so sorry it’s proving difficult to get the work done :( hope all ailing recover ASAP

I’m feeling a fair bit better now, pain got pretty horrific as the anesthetic wore off in the various places (one issue on the right, one at the front and the other on the left!) despite having already taken painkillers but then it all but disappeared and I can talk properly now. And I ate a frube. But I do like the idea of medicinal chocolate buttons 🤔😋 really hungry now but the dentist did say something about not having hot drinks, and I was too dizzy by then to ask how long for (I had the same dizziness when I had a wisdom tooth out years ago, so I was prepared and got a taxi home) so I’ll phone up and ask I think. I could murder some soup

Thatsnotmybookworm · 29/10/2018 16:22

I'm not an expert @Cagliostro, but I had some dental work last year and going on my experience, I would avoid hot liquids for a day or two if you could.

Spends today:
£40 new shoes for DS
£2 drink
I'm very proud of DS, he slept in car on way to shoe shop so I brought him into adjacent book/toy shop to wake him up properly. He was so excited by everything he saw and asked to buy some of them; I said no each time, today we are spending our money on shoes, and he accepted it very happily and left the shop with no fuss which is pretty good for a three year old I think.

Bornlazy · 29/10/2018 16:23

FFS my almost 16 yr old and my 13 yr old are upstairs fighting and carrying on Angry I can feel my temper rising from my toes... Dh is away until Thursday night and I will not be putting up with this shit.

Sea I hope you don't take it too, that sounds very stressful.

Wreck have you tried going into the school yourself to look as I am not convinced they search properly.

Welcome moi welcome. I would also recommend meal planning as a way of cutting down costs.

Cagliostro · 29/10/2018 16:44

Ah thanks is that because of the teeth being more sensitive? That’s all I could find on google anyway and the phone line is busy. I don’t think it’s due to the extraction itself (he gave me a detailed instruction sheet for aftercare which I think is great, and it’s not on there) but maybe due to the stuff he put on my other tooth to prepare for the crown. So am a bit worried it’s due to potential damage. Not sure what to eat 🧐 I have asked DH for smoothie though and more frubes 😋 problem is I don’t want to use my back teeth on the right or left now. I may have literally bitten off more than I can chew

WreckTangled · 29/10/2018 16:46

Yep. Everything in lost property is things that aren't named ie deserve to be lost!

QuiteFabULousDahling · 29/10/2018 16:53

Its due to the extraction-risk of bleeding Cag
Wreck I feel your pain -I would march mine back into school with a face like thunder until they were found .
Sea thats shit Flowers lets hope not
Cant DH lie on the sofa and have a TV day?
Would he be taking the day off to look after you if the tables were turned?

AutumnLeaves12 · 29/10/2018 17:01

Cag Love the "" joke. You're doing well to be cracking jokes. Hang in there.

I am sitting in bed, while ds plays computer games. #QualityParenting.

I'm doing something very Important and Intellectual on the computer probably.

WreckTangled · 29/10/2018 17:02

Quite poor ds bursts into tears every time I ask him about it. They usually get the bus home but I'm going to see if I can collect them Friday and have a look.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/10/2018 17:08

I still remember my dm going batshit when I bought home the wrong jumper in secondary school. No more jumpers were lost.

Hi Just & moi. Meal planning and avoiding eating on the run is key. I use vegan recipes because I'm allergic to cows milk. Vegan yorkshires are my most recent discovery. I just need a decent tin to cook them in.

There's £2.50 free chocolate or sweets on topcashback groceries section. Valid till 4/11. I'm going to buy green and black dark chocolate, 2 for £3 in sainsburys. Dh has an account so i'll get 4 bars for £1 & save it for Christmas.

£1.10 aldi. Bread for dh and a banana.

My Tesco slippers are coming undone so I've found the receipt & I'll take them back on Wednesday. Hopefully the next lot will come undone around Christmas as I'm asking for white company slippers this year.

Cag Drink through a straw if you have any. Your nearly past the worst of it now.

Justanothermile · 29/10/2018 17:14

It gets better cag, promise.

Yeah, I’d be stressed too seacow in fairness. Fingers crossed you don’t succumb to it too.

Cheers fluffy, DH has eaten most of the chocolate I bought for trick or treat treats so I’ll use that offer. He’s in the bad books😂

Okay, the pumpkin from work is somewhat larger than I anticipated (freaking huge!!) and so I’ll be jigging the menu plan. Ocado have some lovely recipes on their website at the minute, so I’ll use those.

Sweet potato and black bean chilli for tea, we are all eating at different times so it was easier to do this tonight and use the slow cooker facility on the instant pot.

QuiteFabULousDahling · 29/10/2018 17:21

Oh dear Wreck
Is he secondary age then?
Is there a chance they have been stolen and he knows this?

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 29/10/2018 17:42

Wreck is there a school fb page? I would ask on there and if no luck go into the school and take an equivalent from lost property. Dd lost two school jumpers last year, she had to make do with a second hand, too small one from lost property!! Annoyingly at the end of the school year she came out with both her jumpers Angry there must be some secret place they keep all the named stuff Hmm my friends son lost his entire P.E kit (at secondary its £££) and likewise that turned up on the last day of term.

Dd is out with her mate, I am pretty sure I should be doing something more productive with a childfree couple of hours than sitting on the sofa mumsetting Grin oh well, I did treat myself MacDonalds for tea £5.

WreckTangled · 29/10/2018 17:56

No he's 5! A bus is provided because we live more than two miles from the catchment school.

He's unwell again. High temp aaaand he's been sick 🤢 I caught it in a bowl

AutumnLeaves12 · 29/10/2018 18:16

Gosh, what a week everybody is having. I'm tempted to go and hide in a hole before it gets us. Take care there Wreck and Christmas and Unescorted and anyone else currently in the firing line.

Unescorted · 29/10/2018 18:18

wreck are they embroidered ones or will any plain ones do? If so what colours do you need. I am sure we have loads that haven't been recycled yet. And is he a big or little 5? There is so much pukieness going about. Good catch!

Cag ooooooouuuuuuch! I hate having teeth out.

Sea hot water bottles....

Em hopefully you found catface. I love the first quiet moments of the morning before anyone else is up. They now sleep in so I get most of the day in peace.

Jam I didn't know you were vegan. I have spent hours looking recipes for when I have vegan friends over for tea... I could have just asked. Now you and moi will have no peace. I find that like all recipes they assume how how to prep things but sometimes I am cooking with ingredients I have never used before. I lose the will to live when Google and I get directed to Vegan Lifestyle sites like Goop....I just want to know how large to dice quorn, not how exciting the contents of one your client's small bowel is after a high Andean coffee and crack enema. My poor vegan friends end up with beans on toast.

QuiteFabULousDahling · 29/10/2018 18:21

I dont think mine would have remembered stuff like that at 5 -presuming he gets the bus on his own?
I usually had to check everything and send them back for stuff every bloody day

WreckTangled · 29/10/2018 18:26

Yes he does quite I'm just so annoyed because they're so clearly (and brightly!) labelled!

Unescorted they're embroidered but I won't be bothering again. Thanks that's so kind he's almost six and quite tall and skinny.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 29/10/2018 18:27

€43.08 at Dunnes Stores using €5 off voucher. Including €17 on a pair of slippers each for dc & €2.50 ds pocket money & tins of chilli beans were reduced so I got 3, had to ask staff member to get some for me as they were on top shelf & I'm a shortie Blush

€83.86 at Aldi got quite a bit of meat in that & lots for dc's mid term too, forgot OJ for ds in both shops
Spied some puppets for dc stockings there too, they normally get a stuffed animal of some sort, so will go back when they're not with me.

@moimichme & @justabadwife welcome to the thread

Cag great that it's covered under maternity exemption

Dd & I Having a much loved & frugal supper which we haven't had in ages pasta with chorizo, bacon lardons, onion, red pesto & pasta with Parmesan grated on top, ds having leftover chicken curry & some chips.

Seacow sorry to hear everyone is ill

Well done to your ds bookworm my ds (almost 5) stropped leaving bowling, Burger King, going into Aldi Angry

Wreck what a nightmare

Unescorted · 29/10/2018 18:29

Let me know what colour and I will send one of the kids into the "pop it in the recycling cupboard of doom* and see what we can find.
