Hope @cremeeggthief @laska & @LonelyOversharer are doing ok 💕

Jam customers not paying & credit terms are so very frustrating, customer credit limits are necessary but make my job difficult to do at times!

Nsd today

thistimenextsummer · 03/10/2018 18:04

Wreck your dad sounds like he leads a very interesting and outdoorsy life - jealous!!

Curvy 😴😴 for you. Working with vulnerable people can be so emotionally draining.

NSD here - phew

Cagliostro · 03/10/2018 18:05

:o

£10 on art class today, it’s really lovely. Had lunch with DH too, was hoping to do some home ed planning (that counts as a faculty meeting surely :o) but baby was awake and causing mischief. Then we decided to go and buy her first shoes 😍 but she fell asleep 🤦‍♀️ We’ve chosen though, I am resisting the lovely patent ones with buckles as I know they will scuff in no time 😰 she still prefers to crawl at times so I’ll wait for the fancy ones until she is only walking. Also she has taken a liking to “kicking” (aka walking up to) a ball so that’ll cause marks too. Obviously according to DH she is a footballing child prodigy 🙄😂 but it is very cute.

Cagliostro · 03/10/2018 18:05

My grin was to summer and her machinery drooling, I clearly need to refresh the screen more

AdoraBell · 03/10/2018 18:09

Spendy day.

£60 Christmas present for DH
£200 winter clothes for DD1
£20 in Marks, tights and pyjamas.

WreckTangled · 03/10/2018 18:15

Thistime he really does. He's met the queen a few tunes and had dinner with the duke of Nottingham, been shooting with Geri halliwell plus some famous rock star whose name escapes me. He's the best Smile

SummerDaize · 03/10/2018 18:21

Thanks Cag Grin I hope it's going well there.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 03/10/2018 18:22

Welcome scarlett
this, it really is and at times you are the bad guy, but ultimately you are doing what is best for that child/ family.
I feel you on the homework front! When my DD2 didn't want to do any work or read, I took her to the library and let her choose the books she wanted as the ones from school were 'boring'. She now enjoys reading and everything is a bit easier, homework is a struggle at times and if she kicks off about it, I remind her that she doesn't have to do it, but she will have to explain why to her teacher. I try to go for the natural consequences.
She is 8, so I still do help a fair amount, it is frustrating though!

SummerDaize · 03/10/2018 18:44

Curvy I know just what you mean about people in caring jobs having to be the bad guy.

If it's any help, I can always see when a kind person is having to pretend to be the bad guy. I always feel bad for them for their having to be in that position. I've been thinking about it recently as we go back to school term, and I always think of a poem by Norman MacCaig that we learned in school called "A man in my position". I'm not sure if I'm allowed to write it out here as it's still in copyright. It's very good.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 03/10/2018 19:32

Oh thank you Daize that really put it into perspective for me.
I need to start reading again, especially poetry

Wolfcub · 03/10/2018 19:56

Evening all. Nsd. Expenses claim put in for yesterday, paid out cash so money will be going back in the bank which is quite good. I did buy lunch yesterday though which I can’t claim for so yesterday was not a nsd.
Ds has an activity this evening which involves me standing around freezing my butt off. I am currently rather cold.

Made instant pot keema biryani for tea. Nice and followed recipe but I think i would pressure it for 1 minute less than the recipe said.

Hamster not being his usual self. He is sleeping outside his house which he never does. Slightly concerned he may be on his way out. Of course it could just be that the central heating is on Grin

ememem84 · 03/10/2018 19:57

Nsd other than the massive spend above.

I managed to do all my other jobs too.

  • Dentist to collect more aligners for my teeth - he is super pleased with my progress! Yay!!!
  • insurance for new house sorted
  • nsandi docs sent
  • drs Fee reclaim done
  • due diligence to estate agent
  • nursery form signed.

I also emailed nursery and have become that parent. They now offer yoga and meditation (🙄) three days a week. One session for babies. One for toddlers. One for pre school. I said that I wanted ds to benefit. So could baby yoga be on a Wednesday as he’s not there on a Monday or a Friday. We’ll see what they say.

Outfit chosen for tomorrow.

Bags packed (gym after work tomorrow)

I’ve washed all my make up remover clothes this evening so need to use a flannel or something to take today’s face off.

I updated my phone last night to ios12. It now does a screen tracker thing so tracks how much I’ve used it throughout the day. 3 hours I’ve wasted in total today. Hmmmm. While I should have been getting ready/working/ playing with ds....

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/10/2018 20:06

Oh Em, what happened to you? you used to be cool Grin

Cagliostro · 03/10/2018 20:17

Going to read that poem now. It’s national poetry day tomorrow apparently, BBC have a “live lesson” online at 2pm with a couple of poets.

Awwww baby yoga! 😍 I used to have a book called sleepy little yoga which we did with the Caglets, I must get it again for baby.

ememem84 · 03/10/2018 20:31

I had a kid fluffy now it’s organisation. Sorting shit out and other dull things before any cool stuff.

I’m a cool mum really. Like Regina George’s mum in mean girls. Haha!!!

Cagliostro · 03/10/2018 20:34

I suppose it was an easier adjustment for me. I was never cool 😳😂

Wolfcub · 03/10/2018 20:41

I’ve never been cool either Cag and I’ve got decidedly less cool the older I’ve got Grin

ememem84 · 03/10/2018 20:44

Disclaimer. I’ve never been one of the cool kids.

I looked at the cool kids at school and was desperate to be accepted by them. Now I wonder why.

Cool outfit tomorrow for work. Navy jeans. Cat print shirt. Grey flatties. Messy bun (because I cba to wash and straighten hair before gym).

Watching better call Saul

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/10/2018 20:51

Ha, you are totally one of those parents now em.

I was never cool either btw, still not

Lovemaltesers · 03/10/2018 21:31

Ahhh, I totally have not done my prep work for college tomorrow and when I tried to print out the notes for tomorrow I have run out of ink Blush Urgh.

Spends
£50 petrol
£15 M&S
£7 Sainsbury's
However much 4 new ink toners cost (DP is in the case)

Good luck seacow going back into work tomorrow

Waves to lonely and laska if you are lurking

My brain is currently feeling a bit full of "stuff" at the moment. 2.5 weeks until half term Grin

Thatsnotmybookworm · 03/10/2018 21:32

Updated spends from today:
£6 top up shop

@ememem84 I use a combination of muslin cloths and flannels for make up removal; I think some would say flannels are better for gently exfoliating your face, but muslins are easier on the laundry.

Tried out some samples for a new bathroom blind this evening; found the right color and the right texture/pattern but not the two together, if I can find what I want when I go back to the shop tomorrow; I'll order it then.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/10/2018 21:55

Baby yoga was done at one of my old health centres, they'd come out in a sort of coma. The mums looked delighted at this.

I switched energy suppliers last month, been with them one week and they're raising prices by 7.5%. I'll have to look around again now Grin

If I change again it will be a personal best for swapping.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 03/10/2018 22:33

I'm totally cool obvs 😉😂

wolf how old is hammy? Our last hamster made it to two and then got a tumor and had to be pts poor thing. Current hamster is a tough cookie, he has survived being caught by the cats twice 😮

Anyone watch diy sos tonight? 😭

£10 to the window cleaner.

Dd told me I'm too protective tonight and I need to let her grow up a bit. I said fine you can put yourself to bed and I'll go out for a bit then 😉😛

ChristmasSeacow · 03/10/2018 23:21

Thanks Love! I started today but just reading and assessing some documents they sent me. I’ve 3 conference calls tomorrow - they said I may as well do that than go in physically (I think they are a bit short of desk space and would probably rather not have to worry about me hanging around). Suits me! Only problem is that mum and DD will be in the house and I can barely open the study door for clutter; also the desk has DH’s giant desktop on it, so I’ve nowhere quiet to work Angry. I asked him to buy a laptop when he replaced hos computer a couple of years ago but he was having none of it. Yet he literally Never works from home. Grrr.

I am already struggling to get everything done, especially keeping up with cooking and batch cooking for the kids. God knows how this will work when they don’t even eat the same meals... I don’t have time for this shit!

I’ve fallen behind with the thread, sorry. No sign of Lonely as I skimmed though and she doesn’t usually go quiet for this long. I hope she’s okay.

DS has been a bit upset due to an ofsted inspection at school that messed with everyone’s routine. So that’s been tricky... and today I took DD for an hour of settling at her new nursery. I stayed with her throughout though. She was fine when we arrived and went out in the garden - lots to see and she loves being outside - but she seemed less impressed inside. She tried to get out of the door and when I said we were staying she marched me round the room by one of my fingers (still not quite walking!) saying ‘sad, sad’. 😕. And then when we got home she walked round saying ‘happy’ just to rub it in. Then after she’d mostly ignored her soup for lunch she said ‘some raspberries please!’. Little madam.

A very close friend of ours is getting married in London in January and then in India in February. We might be going to both (yaaay!) as mum has said she can step in and stay with the kids. Partly over half term too... heroic! We’ve just got to weigh up the costs. Doable though I think.
