Thought I'd make a new thread, I'll post on the old one and alert to its presence.

All are welcome, we are friendly folk.

Exactly. We have to drive five miles to the nearest Tesco express. There's also none of the 'cheap shops' nearby like b&m, pound shops, home bargains etc which is a real problem for people especially when they don't drive. We see it a lot at work, people get put in social housing in very rural areas and just get more and more isolated

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 03/10/2018 09:31

Part of the reason I bought a tiny car (Toyota aygo) was to minimise petrol costs, my old Peugeot was a nightmare and cost nearly £20 a week, the aygo is more like £10- £12 a week. As well as it being tax free and hopefully more reliable....

Plan today is to pop into town and then go to a friends for lunch.

Scarlettotara · 03/10/2018 10:03

Hi can I join? Have been lurking for some time. Single mum of 12 year old girl. Tight enough budget but should be doing better. Need to make myself more accountable. Will read back

SnugglySnerd · 03/10/2018 10:05

Just popping in to say hello as once again I am miles behind!

Thatsnotmybookworm · 03/10/2018 10:12

Belated Happy Birthday to the birthday DHs and DSs.

Spends yesterday:
£2 work canteen
£1 Kindle book. I frugally went through the deals of the month to find something I wanted to read.

Wolfcub · 03/10/2018 11:44

£53 tickets to see Supervet

Scarlettotara · 03/10/2018 12:11

Forgot to say I'm in Ireland like mammy and tayto

Just back from Lidl €8.77 on bananas, onions, free range eggs, water, crackers, washing up liquid and of course had to buy something from middle aisles - lint rollers. At least they were only €1.49 could have been worse. Going to try to use up what I have until Friday (payday) - queue lots of moaning from my daughter that there's nothing in the house

ememem84 · 03/10/2018 13:14

House deposit paid to the lawyers. Bye bye money. Hello house. Hopefully. On Friday.

Donuts were ace. I am so so full. But so so happy.

No spends other than the above.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/10/2018 13:33

Hi Scarlett. Our fridge is packed and my dh still complains there is no food. Cant win.

£10 petrol
£6 Tesco, food storers, cat food, reduced milk and onions.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 03/10/2018 14:13

Hi @Scarlettotara can you show her how to improvise & make it interesting to make meals out of what you've got?

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/10/2018 14:46

£32 top. It was in the sale.

Justanothermile · 03/10/2018 15:19

Welcome to scarlett.

£50 Sainsburys, shopping bills already decreasing significantly following DS's departure for university.

I forgot £40 from yesterday for hair highlighted and cut.

I'm fed up of bastard customers for not paying their bills at present. My whole working life is taken up with chasing money. I'd rather be doing other stuff. No hum.

Exciting times Em, you've inspired me to get my arse in gear and pay off some more of the mortgage. As has life.

Justanothermile · 03/10/2018 15:27

My friend brought me brunch which was kind of her.

You could use the surplus shopping money jam

ememem84 · 03/10/2018 16:17

jam start adding interest. Or (and I’m not sure what the business is) stop work. Pens/tools down. Until they pay.

Justanothermile · 03/10/2018 16:18

Decent idea fluffy, I annually forget how easy it is to pay extra off these days. The mortgage account is on an online banking type scenario anyway now, so I've just paid a big sum off, we are down to £120k, it was £250k when we moved here 6 years ago. I've 18 months left of 1.9% so I'm going to really chuck any extra that I can (subject to the 10% limit) while the rate is so low.

We've also done the usual and put a significant proportion of our annual dividend straight into our pensions, which is tax efficient for ourselves and for the business but obviously a solid use of money too.

Justanothermile · 03/10/2018 16:22

They all go on stop anyway em, don't think T&C's would allow us to add interest but I've gone legal on three, one is at court proceeding stage, two more of a shot across the bows.

This week I've had an email from one customer actually telling me they pay us when they get paid.... another saying they will pay for a machine when they decide to unwrap it and decide to use it....despite it being delivered in July......God's sake.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 03/10/2018 16:24

My dad delivered a Christmas tree to the supervet for the Christmas special. He was on tv and everything.

Nsd. Spent three hours non stop driving.

Justanothermile · 03/10/2018 16:24

Otherwise, it's constant reminders and emails asking for payment updates, depressing and tedious and time consuming. Our cash flow can stand it, other small businesses can't and we are not infallible forever. Angry

SummerDaize · 03/10/2018 16:46

That explains a lot Jam. I always put a cheque in the post the day after an invoice arrives from a tradesman and I've noticed that they seem happy to come back.

Justanothermile · 03/10/2018 17:00

If you fancy ordering an industrial machine summer I'd be happy to offer terms, prompt payers are very welcome indeed.Grin

OP posts:
SummerDaize · 03/10/2018 17:13

I do like an industrial machine...
