Thought I'd make a new thread, I'll post on the old one and alert to its presence.

All are welcome, we are friendly folk.

wreck she has had grommets twice! They always told me she had sensory hearing loss due to the constant infections but the consultants suddenly seem to want to investigate it again. I don't mind obviously it's just a worry. We have had a good chat about it tonight though, we reminded ourselves that although it's rubbish there are worse things than hearing loss.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 24/09/2018 22:16

Spends today £3 bus fare and £2.50 on some wool for work. Em great cake! Flowers to all of those suffering from mh issues at present. mammy that is great news about the refund, wreck hmrc are very stupid at times. Girlie that sounds like a very good attitude to have. Need to get work stuff ready and my lunch then going to bed, so night all.

WreckTangled · 24/09/2018 22:25

Girlie this lady was a few years below me at school and her mum is a teacher at the DC's school (this lady also did some supply work there and now tutors one of DD's friends). I had no idea she was deaf or had any hearing loss at all. I don't know if it'll help your dd but it might help her to know that she can still do/be so much. Meg was (and still is) so popular throughout school and always smiling. YouTube linkk*

northender how old is your DS? My DS1 had gunky eyes loads when he was little. Never did get to the bottom of it, he eventually seemed to grow out of it. But not nice when they wake up and can’t see, bless em.

CurlsandCurves · 24/09/2018 22:32

em your man looks very pleased with his cake! Or what’s left of it!

northender · 24/09/2018 23:29

Thanks Curls he's 17 & has been having problems with his eyes since August 2017 as well as lots of other health problems. He's been really stoic about it all & just got on with things but lost it a bit today. He is generally much better than he was & so hopefully these antibiotics will do the trick.

AdoraBell · 25/09/2018 00:03

lovely pic there em 😁I’ll post again tomorrow.

SummerDaize · 25/09/2018 04:28

north have you checked if your ds is getting his 11mg of iron a day every day? My ds had a lot of very similar troubles for years and it all went away quite suddenly (touches wood) when I started being really meticulous about getting him the full daily dose of iron. -----Also-------Has anybody seen snuggly?

ememem84 · 25/09/2018 06:40

Morning. Still can’t do return aaah. Back to work today and gym after. cag I’m glad Dino shirt arrived! ........................ must go post office today and post dh’s old phone off. Haven’t done it yet as he’s been slow in letting me know it’d been reset. There’s a water leak on the road near dparents which could cause me issues this morning getting into work. Sigh. Have messaged the boss to let him know.

Wolfcub · 25/09/2018 07:08

Morning all. North I hope the antibiotics kick in and ds gets some relief soon. It must be very frustrating for him. Girlie that is a great attitude but it must all be tough on you and dd too Flowers. Wreck that’s a real arse about the tax and tough to know that things will be tight even though it’s only for six months. Testing the instant pot again. I’m upstairs getting ready, it’s downstairs making porridge. There is no denying it would be quicker on the stove but I’d have to stand and watch it and stir. I’m hoping to fire up the laptop to start work with a bowl of hot porridge in hand and no fuss

WreckTangled · 25/09/2018 07:24

North that sounds tough poor ds

Em the cake is awesome.

It's 1 degree here this morning brrrr ds is still insisting on wearing shorts though Hmm

CurlsandCurves · 25/09/2018 07:48

Morning, got eldest off with a heavy cold, he couldn’t sleep most of the night. Need to nip to the chemist for supplies for him. Then it’s fat club, circuits class, school run and another fat club ( I help out at 2 classes).

CurlsandCurves · 25/09/2018 07:51

Got in touch with a local broker about our buy to let mortgages. Given him all the details and he should be getting back to me today or tomorrow. Hopefully he can save us some money.

LonelyOversharer · 25/09/2018 07:52

He's a wee toughie wreck! .... We put the central heating on last night, first time since before the summer. .... I wonder if this is a mn revolt against the paragraph pedants over on other boards, "is my marriage over, caught dh shagging someone in my bed, he then beat me up, what do I do?" First response: "I cannot read that garble, if you wrote your desperate plea for help in paragraphs you'd get better responses" Hmm... Anyway, was late up (again) and we are all dragging our feet today.

Wolfcub · 25/09/2018 08:17

So porridge cooked nicely and tasted nice. Even ds ate it and he’s not a fan of porridge made with real oats. Downside the bottom burned to the pot so I need to work out how to stop that happening

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 25/09/2018 08:58

lonely 😂 I've seen threads like that!!

wolf we've had 10 years of ear trouble and hospital appointments now and the consultant said Ystd she will continue to be checked right up to adulthood 😟 really she should be wearing aids in both ears but it's a struggle to get her to one aid at the moment. I need to get her school more involved as well so will email the year head today.

Thanks wreck will have a look at that later today.

I'm generally feeling a bit better, still got arm/neck pain but it's better than it was, I'm debating going back to work end of this week. I'm signed off til next week but could get a fit to work certificate. Will speak to my manager later and see what she thinks.

AdoraBell · 25/09/2018 09:11

Glad the porridge worked Wolf, hope the antibiotics work north and ditto what Summer said . Don’t think I logged this on last thread, but one of the pooches is costing us £££ Hmm potential autoimmune issue, could be fungal, but because claws have come loose she has MRSA. Just under £1,000 spent so far. Our heating is on, but because DDs refuse to leave their doors open they are freezing Hmm #bloodyteenagers. Groceries coming later, I’ve overspent on offers 🤦‍♀️.

Bornlazy · 25/09/2018 09:47

Morning everyone hoping for nsd today.

It’s very cold here this morning. We have the heating on - not frugal but necessary.

I found out yesterday that my car insurance cash back from Quidco has been declined. I have opened a case as it was for £28 and was the reason I chose to go through that site Angry

North I have the pressure king one and it’s great. I think they take a bit of getting used to.

I have discovered that if you enable diction on your phone/iPad you can say “new paragraph” and it gives you one 🎉

Bornlazy · 25/09/2018 09:49

I knew the minute I posted that they would fix

the

problem

😂😂

SummerDaize · 25/09/2018 10:24

I wonder if it's always Monday nights that we all get a rubbish night's sleep? I did too. I find I get a better sleep on Monday nights if I have a really quiet day on Monday, but it's just not always possible.

I'm trying a paragraph just for the excitement of it.

I just realised that prescriptions cost twice as much if you get a one month box as if you get a two month box for regular medication. Ratso.

ememem84 · 25/09/2018 11:10

Oooh. Paragraphs

Have wrapped up dh’s phone so I can post it off at lunchtime.

And have made a dr appointment for Monday. I’m running out of meds so should probably get them before I run out....

Teeth are hurting today. Changed my aligners on Sunday night (which was a good thing as the old ones went blue....curse you cake frosting!) and today is day 2. It’s usually the first 3 days it’s the most painful then it phases out (or I ignore it).

ChristmasSeacow · 25/09/2018 11:14

Jam good job letting go of DS cheerfully - you are totally right about it being a parent’s mission but it still must be hard!

Girlie and North I do feel for your dcs. It’s hard enough being a tween/ teenager without having to deal with health issues and feeling different. Flowers for them both

Adora ouch, that’s so expensive! But when you love them you gotta do what you gotta do.

You are all leading me into IbstaPot temptation. Glad it’s put a spring in your step Wolf, with things being so tough.

Now, I have got the spends again. I’ve put DS in trousers this week for the first time in a while and they are showing a lot of leg! He must have shot up because his waterproof coat, bought 6 months ago, is looking quite short already (he wore the previous one for almost 2 years) and I’ve realised his winter coat doesn’t fit. He also has only one jumper and not many long sleeved tops. So I’ve bought a few things for him from JL because I have vouchers from using my JL credit card. I also bought myself a new worky smart laptop rucksack for commuting as my old one is very tatty. That was with my birthday voucher from PILs though. I needed to top up the vouchers for DS’s clothes stash with cash, about £60. Got most of his winter wardrobe though, along with some stuff from Tu, like jeans, that I’d already got on 25% off.

I’ve realised dd doesn’t have a winter coat either. Will check Sainsbury’s. My thoughts are defo turning to winter coats as I am chuffing freezing all of a sudden!

It looks as though that project is going to work out so I’ll be starting work next week, a couple of days on site and 1-2 wfh. I’m visiting a couple of nurseries for dd over the next two days. Shock that this is all happening so fast! I need to turf literally all the boxes out of the built in cupboards in the spare room and pray I can find some of my old ‘fat’ officewear as I was considerably thinner when I stopped work 2 years ago HmmAngry

Dd is properly on the verge of walking but we are still having to walk round in circles holding her hands for 6 hours a day 😬😬😬. She will push the walker, but only with one hand while I hold the other. Ffs.

SummerDaize · 25/09/2018 11:28

I just heard from the clarinet man that maybe my clarinet is not out of tune after all and could possibly be fixed with a longer barrel. That is very encouraging news as it would mean I possibly don't need/want to save up £1500 after all. I am crossing my fingers.

and also apparently now putting some kind of weird cream on my neck for a pre-cancerous skin abnormality. So the sunshine this summer was good for vitamin D, but not for skin. Ooops.

Bornlazy · 25/09/2018 11:37

Sea that’s very exciting news about your job. For me rushed is sometimes better as it sharpens my mind and gives me less time to overthink things. I always work better under pressure.

Summer oh dear- will you need to wear sunblock from now on?

SummerDaize · 25/09/2018 11:44

Born I'm a bit rubbish about sunblock. Since pregnancy I've been really hypersensitive to smells and I can't manage even the unscented sunblock. I think I'll have wear a bucket on my head instead. I head that's a really hot look these days though.
