Welcome mimena

Sunday evening stuff has been done:

  • outfit picked
  • bag packed
  • cake baked
  • heal cream on
  • make up off
  • have downloaded an app to record drinks
  • purse cleared out
  • calendar consulted to work out where dh and I need to be.

It’s going to be a good week next week is.

Wolfcub · 30/09/2018 20:31

Urgh I was about to lock up for the night then realised my shopping isn’t coming for at least another hour. Frugal shopping slots are not always convenient!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 30/09/2018 21:22

I've taken a shop in my pj's before now wolf 😉

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/09/2018 21:25

Hi Mimena

kit Poundland do beef atora suet. I stock up in 3's. It only saves about 60p but if I'm passing anyway I buy some.

These flatbread are a cheap alternative to naan. I put onion seeds in ours. allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/40263/syrian-flatbread.aspx

AdoraBell · 30/09/2018 21:27

NSD

Lovemaltesers · 30/09/2018 21:44

I've often answered the door to the postman in my pjs girlie. Our postman is one of the dads in the school playground Blush

SummerDaize · 30/09/2018 21:52

Ds and I went to our orchestra again tonight and it went well. Neither of us could keep up with reading the music so we both ended up just copying the notes played by the person with the tenor saxophone and had a lovely time effectively just humming along with her. The conductor said that was okay (phew!).

Then I came home and an important part of my clarinet dropped off ShockShockShock

So I know what I'll be doing this week...

We had a very nice night. £0 + free parking as it's a Sunday.

kitkat6 · 30/09/2018 21:57

fluffy thank you I need to make better use of £land

ChristmasSeacow · 30/09/2018 22:21

Welcome Mimena. Good that you think you can just about manage in one salary, of would be fab if you can.

Love I’ll be going in Wednesday /Thursday this week, I think. I have to do some prep work on Tuesday though. I can’t really hit the ground running because I have to settle DD in nursery this week and next. Nursery want us to go daily but I’ve said I won’t be able to take her in 1-2 days this week, if I’ve to go to the office. I’ll get that all planned with them tomorrow.

Em I’m not that ready for my week 😳. It’ll be a big one for you - won’t you be in your new place this time next week?

Wreck I’d be pleased about that myself! How did your dad happen to have that stuff, is he a collector? We have lots of fossils, I hope the Dcs are interested one day.

I spent ages putting a ‘for sale’ post of baby stuff on fb this evening and have sold 4 items so far, so £30 if they collect. Fingers crossed. (Some of the items are things BIL and SIL would quite like for DNephew, like boy’s coats, but I’ve given them bags and bags of stuff with barely an acknowledgement , and they didn’t even get DD a 1st birthday card. So I’m not feeling it at the mo. AIBU?)

Right, still got loads to do. Including writing to DS’s teacher. He got a lovely postcard in the mailbox yesterday (like, proper post!) from his teacher saying he’d been a star at school and working really hard. He seemed to understand and be chuffed so that’s lovely, I need to write her a note to let her know.

ibuiltahomeforyou · 30/09/2018 22:32

I have to tell you all about my budgeting - DH and I went through DH's document file tonight dating back more than 10 years... he found some gig tickets from April 2014 that he'd never used, couldn't remember booking, had absolutely no recollection about ordering! Hmm

When I decluttered earlier this summer and realised our little house is bursting at the seams and we need to get organised, that is the kind of thing I mean! Who could have forgotten that?!

The six umbrellas I found now don't seem like the biggest waste of money, it's all the stuff we have bought and not used.

ChristmasSeacow · 01/10/2018 00:55

Built it’s a bit like that here. Not tickets but I’ve bought the odd item of clothing for the kids only to realise afterwards that I already had it Blush. And it happens a lot with food stuff, though it doesn’t go to waste I do end up with too many bottles of mayo clogging up the cupboard. Hence the decluttering required here!

Thanks to Wreck I bought tickets for Romesh Ranganathan’s tour today. I thought they’d be a good Xmas or birthday gift for DH. But as I purchased them I realised that they were for April 2020, not next April Shock. I hope we do remember them after all that time! 😂😂

Just paid the deposit for DS’s nursery. I am going to cry when I leave her Sad

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/10/2018 06:05

Hello newbies.

Party went well but I was knackered last night. £218.

Yanbu sea, get them sold. Good luck with nursery and job.

Spendy week this week as DS birthday is actually Tomorrow but dd party is next weekend as her birthday is next week.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 01/10/2018 06:49

Once he enjoyed himself life
I've joined forces with another mum for ds's birthday party this year, her dd was born day before ds & they're in the same class.

Going to book a Christmas photo shoot for dc this year. That will cover presents for some people too. €75 for 5 digital images, of course will need to buy their Christmas clothes for it too Grin

mammynowanauntyIRL · 01/10/2018 06:50

First grocery shop today for household minus H, will do list after dc are gone to school and I've gone for a run.

ememem84 · 01/10/2018 06:53

sea it still could be. But I’m not hopeful. Survey report picked up the underfelt in the roof is very holey, the garage flat roof is leaking and the drains in the back are pitch fibre. So we need an investigate.

I’ve passed this info onto lawyer along with surveyors report.

We’ve also asked for warrants from sellers that upstairs rads work (they’re old but weren’t on the day we or the surveyor looked) and that hot water is working (again not on when surveyor looked).

Seller needs to agree the investigation and we take it from there. If they want to still go this Friday our lawyer has been instructed to negotiate a price drop by £15k. So we’ll see.

They won’t be able to get another buyer who can move quickly. Any other survey will pick up these points and they have to be out by 30 Oct as they have financial penalties on their new build if not. So we’re in a very strong position.

Yanbu either.

I’m only organised because I have to be this week. We’re all over the place. But I want to get dh into the habit of organising and consulting the diary before the new week starts.

Sober October starts today. Day one. Go!

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 01/10/2018 07:12

Morning everyone, hoping for a NSD today.

Welcome newbies.
Must get ready for work.

Wolfcub · 01/10/2018 07:29

Happy October frugalleers 🐇 🐇 🐇

Wolfcub · 01/10/2018 07:29

Dammit on my phone those rabbits are white!

WreckTangled · 01/10/2018 07:38

Sea it's ages away isn't it?! If they still have good seats the end of October I'll get dh some for Christmas. Re the Stone Age tools my dad has loads of things, including roman coins etc. He's a gamekeeper (sorry vegetarians)/estate manager so works outside. The estate he lives/works on has a medieval church and he's always finding stuff whilst out walking.

It's chilly this morning. I have a fun day at work of stuffing envelopes Hmm should be a nsd though

mammynowanauntyIRL · 01/10/2018 08:03

Seacow I'm not sure if I wished you best of luck with your new job or not but I do wish you all the best, back to being a working wife/mother of two is no joke, juggling everything!

Em I hope everything goes well for ye this week, I know ye have your parents to stay with but it'll be lovely to have your own place too again.

I'll continue my sobriety until my Christmas party I think.

Mimena · 01/10/2018 08:05

1st October means I can reset all of my budgets on Money Dashboard for the new month. I’ve set it all up in the last few days, I’m hoping it will be helpful to track spending, as we’ve struggled with logging what we spend as and when. The only part I can’t see how to manage well is how to track saving for annual expenses like insurances and holidays, that I’d like to distribute over the year - anyone use it who can share their approach?

mammynowanauntyIRL · 01/10/2018 08:10

Haven't heard anyone hear speak of moneydashboard but hopefully someone knows, is there a Facebook help group?

Mimena · 01/10/2018 08:12

To dos for the day (not a working day for me):

  • go the the gym (my deal to myself is I can keep it as long as I use it, if I drop off going it gets cancelled)
  • sort out finance paperwork, a form needs filling in
  • big tidy needed upstairs
  • couple of important work emails, despite it being my day off

Hope everyone has a good day.

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/10/2018 08:15

Sea YANBU wtf? they obviously see you as a cash cow for childrens clothes.

Kit I get kitchen stuff in there too, measuring cups, ceramic dishes for lasagne. Stuff like that.

Mimena · 01/10/2018 08:30

Thanks mammy, I’ve not found anything online yet but will keep looking (and not looked at FB yet, will do). Plenty of info about YNAB, but it doesn’t work in quite the same way.
