Well done mammy!
Yes, partly because of the mortgage and also switching energy and home insurance to cheaper deals. On paper it doesn't look like massive savings but it's the first month we haven't just scraped through!
I also have a cheque for £25 to pay in which I use do. That might go towards a treat though as it was a gift.

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/09/2018 07:21

Mammy Excellent result. He needs budgeting advice though by the sounds of it. He can set up for less than £5k.

Snuggly It does all pay off in the end.

Check your m&s sparks accounts, some have £10 off vouchers. Neither of mine have it but some do.

Wolfcub · 28/09/2018 07:47

Mammy that is brilliant news, I’m sure it was nerve wracking but well done that’s a great result getting him out of the house and making sure he’s contributing to the mortgage in the interim.
Snuggly that’s fantastic news too. I remember the feeling of the first month breaking even (it wasn’t that long ago) it’s such a relief and a massive achievement
Well done Em on the course
Pay day. Woooo. I have paid myself first. Going to try and be careful this month as I think I should be able to save more than I am but it’s ds’s birthday and half term so likely to be tricky.
Need to wrap and post a parcel this morning. Nails this afternoon

CurlsandCurves · 28/09/2018 08:11

mammy that’s brilliant news! Bet you feel great this morning!

QuitelovesStrictly · 28/09/2018 08:32

Oh mammy thats such good news ,what a relief and yiu can finally move forward Flowers
Well done Snuggly
Glad to hear DS is a bit better north
Yay for your course em and fridays!
I took an AL day so long weekend .
Pondering going to the gym but coffee in bed first .
I really need to sort out the veg patch but digging is out due to my shoulder.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 28/09/2018 09:22

Am so pleased for you mammy well done on getting this far.

Dd has a day off today, she has still got a horrible cough so the dairy free diet hasn't done much yet 😕 not sure if it warrants another dr appointment, will see how she goes today.

AdoraBell · 28/09/2018 09:22

Fantastic news mummy 💐🍾

Today should be NSD here.

AdoraBell · 28/09/2018 09:23

ememem84 · 28/09/2018 09:38

Today’s jobs:

Work (obviously)
Pay in cheque to ds’ account
Withdraw money for next week £60 (£30 for riding tomorrow and then the rest for lunch today, donuts for the office on Wednesday and other ancillary spends).

Wolfcub · 28/09/2018 10:47

£4.40 posting present £18 Lidl top up as Ocado delivery not due until Sunday

ChristmasSeacow · 28/09/2018 11:12

Brilliant progress Mammy!

Am on my way to a meeting about this work project, fingers crossed it’s feasible and I can meet their deadline.

ChristmasSeacow · 28/09/2018 11:14

It feels very weird indeed to be wearing smart clothes. However, it has become obvious that my feet are definitely bigger than they were so I am going to have to ditch a beautiful collection of office shoes and start again Angry. I am wearing lk Bennett slingbacks today, since I can still squeeze into them!

SummerDaize · 28/09/2018 11:16

Good luck Christmas. I hope the meeting goes well.

I visited my old office once a few years back and it was very strange to go in in my old clothes and find my officemates all sitting exactly where I'd left them.

I hope you have a good time there.

Wolfcub · 28/09/2018 11:42

Good luck Sea

ememem84 · 28/09/2018 11:44

Good luck sea xxx

I am wearing my new boots today. It’s absolutely a leopard print day.

Have just written an email to all directors plus compliance and accounts manager re a client of mine. They’re not providing the information we need to finalise accounts or do any work. I’ve suggested pens down on them. Until such time as I get the info I need. Let’s see how it goes.

Thanks everyone for the good wishes

Feels very surreal but like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders too

€50 at hairdressers this morning on cut & colour, new style too. Makes me look younger & my face rounder which I generally tend to avoid but fancied a change

ememem84 · 28/09/2018 13:10

Make up shopping mishap. Urban decay born to run pallet. Eyeshadow primer (which I’d run out of and had intended to buy) and a lipstick. A nice neutral every day shade.

The pallet and Lipstick are my birthday present to myself.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 28/09/2018 13:30

Dropped dd at the cinema with her two new friends who seem lovely, I'm so pleased for her. I think most of you know how much she has struggled socially so it feels like a massive step forward that she has found some nice friends! !

I had a look round sainsburys which is next to the cinema, they had a big sale on homewear and I picked up a few bits that we needed, also a long sleeve top for me as I'm struggling for clothes now it's got cooler. Also got a few more dairy free bits total spend £34.

Have given dd £15 for cinema and macdonalds afterwards, she doesn't get pocket money so this makes up for that.

Posted two parcels £5

ChristmasSeacow · 28/09/2018 13:40

Job is on. Runs to the beginning of December. I am going to be flat out till then! Must find more clothes that fit, may need to buy trousers. And buy an attractive but wearable pair of office shoes.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 28/09/2018 13:54

I spent €42 in team Rh shop on some protein powder & a sample of supreme greens & popcorn. Hope refund from booking.com comes soon Grin

I made a smoothie with avocado yogurt banana and almond milk this morning & thought if I added protein powder to this it would be just perfect, so I bought vanilla flavour as I've had it before & I've strayed from porridge too as eggs are higher in protein so I'd start to include that again now too.

And big news I went for a short run this morning, hoping my health will return now that my homelife stresses are going to be reduced. Will use contact time for running/improving my health & social life.

House insurance quote came it's good & is convenient I will shop around but possibly go with this one. Removed alarm discount as ours isn't working. €296.76 payable monthly with our mortgage interest free.

Letter from electric Ireland notifying me when my contract ends, I'll shop around for this, almost two months notice.

Bornlazy · 28/09/2018 13:58

Girlie that’s great that your dd has some lovely new friends as it makes such a difference. I would say that the only downside to this is that every weekend they start looking for money to go here there and everywhere. We started giving ours pocket money as it actually worked out cheaper.

Sea well done!!

Wolfcub · 28/09/2018 14:15

Girlie that’s great news
Mammy that all sounds very positive

I was supposed to have breakfast with a friend but they had to cancel due to illness so I’m having a spur of the moment afternoon coffee with another friend

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 28/09/2018 14:44

Yes born I wondered that! She def won't be doing this every week though. I might look at sorting her out a proper bank account that I could put money into monthly and then she can take out as and when. What do other people with older kids do? She currently has a savings account that she puts gift money into but she rarely takes it out for anything! !

Well done on the job sea

You're sounding really positive mammy hope ex isn't being too much of a dick and moves out ASAP! !

I've ground to a halt as AF is making herself known, am having a lie down with a hot water bottle for a bit. For ages I thought AF stood for annual fucker 😂

QuitelovesStrictly · 28/09/2018 14:57

Girlie
Im on the mini pill so it does 😂
Mine had pocket money and holiday money from 7/8 .
My DC had paper rounds and a weekend job and one of my DC did chores for money
He was a cracking cleaner and would polish my car until it shone !
They had their own accounts from about 13/14 .

WreckTangled · 28/09/2018 15:17
