Thanks jam for that support, I have a separate thread so not to derail this one & lots of my friends here have visited me there

Good news em on homewares discount, great timing.

Born that was great compensation, here in Ireland you'd be lucky to get 'sorry'

Seriously cute wellies seacow yes he's being a dick.

Strictly there'll be money in joint account from my transfer anyhow and I'll pay au pair & activities from that but unless he puts in his share, I'll make do with food in cupboards until he has.

Lonely delighted your dp has settled into new routine and his meds are working

I made soup tonight for tomorrow's lunch, it was going to be roast red pepper, tomato and red onion soup except I burnt the onions, then it was simmering and I thought it looked a bit thin so I added some frozen broccoli and frozen leaf spinach. My blender made it into very gritty soup. In my new home I'm getting a decent blender/soup maker & instant pot. All going on shopping list Grin

Thatsnotmybookworm · 12/09/2018 20:41

Sounds delicious @ememem84; homemade coleslaw is on my To Make list Smile.
I'll be having an early night I think; I'm very tired.

QuitelovesStrictly · 12/09/2018 20:44

Envy I love red cabbage

thistimenextsummer · 12/09/2018 20:47

Oof - today has been super busy and v v tiring. 5.15 wake up call and have been on the go ever since. Now finally eating dinner and watching SWFL (dinner = ready meal. Wouldn't go down well with Greg Wallace but it's our new thing to try making the dreaded swimming night more bearable)
I did fit in some extra life admin - made pack-up teas for the girls to eat whilst out at swimming, wrote and posted an important card to a friend and did the charity shop/tip run.

Sea we have a real climber too! Very good tip downthread about just teaching them how and letting them get on with it. We actually don't have stair gates on the stairs for that very reason (but do have them on various rooms as the children still need to be contained 😂)

thistimenextsummer · 12/09/2018 20:50

Sorry also wanted to say mammy you are amazing. So strong, so gracious, holding it all together and always finding time to give good advice on here too x

ememem84 · 12/09/2018 20:55

We are probably going to have a climber....

thistimenextsummer · 12/09/2018 21:12

Oh em 😍** what a poppet!!!

Just written my shopping list for tomorrow, the first four items are all Ps - prawns, peas, peppers and pineapple - strangely satisfying!

CurlsandCurves · 12/09/2018 21:22

ememem omg how adorable!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 12/09/2018 21:30

Adorable em how blue are his eyes?! 😍

You're so strong mammy have you spoken to the kids about it yet?

We walked to the co-op and back with the plan to raid the yellow labels but there was nothing left bar some ginger!! Bought some chocolate instead £1.

Dd still coughing a bit but is otherwise okay so hopefully fine for school tomos...

ememem84 · 12/09/2018 21:36

He’s a cute face isn’t he?! Full of mischiefs.

Love him. Hard to believe he’ll be 1 in 2 weeks.

LonelyOversharer · 12/09/2018 21:44

em he just gets cuter and cuter, hurtling towards toddlerdom! He's going to be irresistibly naughty.

Watched swfl, do all these folk really have no idea. Knitted 2 kings and a shepherd though.

ChristmasSeacow · 13/09/2018 00:25

So many climbers! AngryGrin

I think dd is going to be a horror with the climbing until she’s got the hang of walking on her own - hopefully then she’ll dial it down a bit Hmm. DS did the odd bit of scaling furniture but never like this! Kitchen diner is all open plan so I can’t shut her out but I do have a few rooms off limits (study, utility, downstairs loo) with high bolts on the outside so I hide the tricky stuff in those rooms. I am trying to teach her just to be safe rather than fence everything off and she’s now pretty good at getting down from the sofa by herself. But some things, like the glass dining table, should never be scaled! And Stairs etc - she needs to walk first! We have stair gates for the time being. I’m defo not brave enough to do without those, my heart couldn’t take the strain!

You are right Lonely, she is immensely pleased with herself Grin. And she’s started putting two words together already ❤️.

DS has also been gorgeous this week. He’s settled into Y1 so much better than I dared hope. Phew.

Stayed up far too late - we’ve been watching Breaking Bad on hols right from the beginning and now only have a few episodes of the last season left. Sooooo addictive! No spoilers please!

mammynowanauntyIRL · 13/09/2018 06:16

Snooze button only gives 9 extra minutes it's not enough Grin

Lunches ready since last night so just need to dress, feed cat & go

Yesterday I put on a wash & the machine said the door wasn't closed & to recheck. Au pair told h he said there was nothing wrong with it. Hopefully he's right about that

ememem84 · 13/09/2018 06:45

Morning y’all.

Thursday!!! Yahooooo!

It’s our air display here today. Dh has a half day and is going to watch the planes with ds. Nursery is near the waterfront and they reserve the outside steps of the cafe near to them. So they can take the kids. Dh is going to leave work and meet them and watch the planes.

I had to forego my half days (businesses generally give a half day for air display and one for carnival day) as Work are closing Christmas Eve.

Ds is awake nice and early....

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/09/2018 07:00

One of the cats pouchs has had air get in and the contents has gone rotten. I'm going to send a photo to Tesco customer services, I cant take it to the store smelling like that and it looks like it might explode anyway.

I'd rather have Christmas eve off. Last year we both had the week before Christmas off and it was awesome. The world goes mental before Christmas.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 13/09/2018 07:08

I checked my holidays yesterday
Taking payment for half a day this week because I've had to leave work for various things. End of month beg of Oct I've two days off to cover au pair holidays and then I'll have 4.5 days left to cover rest of year

LonelyOversharer · 13/09/2018 07:14

My work shuts down over Christmas, which is great. So I finish (probably early) the same day as dc, and don't go back until the new year. But I've a week (I'm taking half term) and 20 hours to take off before then. I'll do a few 1/2 days for Christmas shopping I think, less amazon this year.

It isn't very light here yet this morning Confused here comes winter...

LonelyOversharer · 13/09/2018 07:15

Rank catfood is simply the worst. Zip lock bag fluffy they can explode

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/09/2018 07:22

Oh my lord that's gross. No Ziploc bag, will do quick photo for cs and lob it in the outside bin.

Wolfcub · 13/09/2018 07:28

Morning all. On a train to the big smoke again Hmm.
Em that’s a lovely photo of ds, hope he enjoys the air show
Mammy you are being very dignified and stoic in the face of absolute twattery

Justanothermile · 13/09/2018 07:28

We close over Christmas and the staff reserve the appropriate amount of holiday. Eve depends on what actual day it falls on, so if it fell on a Monday we wouldn't open, as we finish at lunch. We return early New Year.

fluffy. How's this for customer service, credit where credit is due. The engineer from British Gas called. The fault with the heating actually turned out to be something the electrician they sent out had done. However, the engineer rang to apologise for all the inconvenience and had been talking to his manager (using his own volition) and there's a cheque for £150 in the post for the inconvenience. I hadn't even complained yet as I had a long day at work yesterday.

Climbers work better when they are a little older and you can let them go up trees and take them to adventure playgrounds. And I found with DS he was so much more confident and surefooted and knew his own limits better for me doing a lonely approach. It's harder at your DD's age seacow.

Today is my first full day in the house all week so it's catch up paperwork, finally menu plan, tidy, exercise blah blah.

Baby blue eyes em, how adorable!

Justanothermile · 13/09/2018 07:30

mammy I'll visit the other thread my lovely ❤️

WreckTangled · 13/09/2018 08:29

Ewww fluffy WreckCat only has dry food so we don't have that problem thankfully

It's cold enough this morning to wear my new coat hooray!

Have a bit of driving to do today but should be a nsd

QuitelovesStrictly · 13/09/2018 08:45

We are so similar in our parenting styles Just
Was just about to say risk management (letting them climb trees essentially😂)comes in a bit later than 18 months .
Ubtil then stairgates and cupboard locks.
A friend of mine didnt and it was hair raising !
Mine had a horrible mini plastic slide indoors -big play room luckily.
Can be bought second hand cheap as chips and hours of "up the steps and dooooown the slide"GrinHmm
Another thing I did was put all the chairs in a row away from the table, chuck a duvet under and lots of cushions around.
Hours of fun and they cant get up on the table.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 13/09/2018 08:45

Eugh to exploding cat food!! Gross!!

We never get Christmas off 😢 always have to work at least some of it, this year it's boxing day as I worked Christmas day last year.

Dd coughed all night and still got a sore throat, got her a Dr's appointment later this morning. Can't believe she is ill so soon after school started back!

Frugal fail, I added a load of sunflower seeds from sunflowers in our garden to bird food we already had and it turned the whole lot mouldy 😕 wasted at least £5 worth of bird seed. Am wondering if you're meant to cook the sunflower seeds first?
