Em glad you're feeling better. Lovely, cheeky pic of ds too!
Mammy sorry your h is being such an arse. Not doing food shop sounds a good plan.
Christmas that sounds like hard work with dd.
Lonely glad your dp's meds are kicking in. Do you sell the nativity figures on etsy?
Busy week here. Work wise I'm busy enough with study, but I'm having to pick up the pieces relating to a member of my team who is difficult & causes problems for everyone. It's just not what I need at the moment.
PIL arrive tonight & are staying for 6 nights which will be interesting...
I've had notification that my hours will be increasing from the 1st October which is good news.
Ds has his next oral surgery/orthodontics appointment tomorrow, so fingers crossed.

Wolfcub · 13/09/2018 08:49

Wreck lovely coat it looks really cosy
We only did cupboard locks on the chemical cupboard In the kitchen but we had gates on the kitchen doors so ds couldn’t get in there without and adult (until his uncle taught him how to climb out of his cot and over a gate)

Girlie mine both have the beginnings of a cold I think.

We never had any cupboard locks but did have a gate through to the kitchen and on the stairs. Although as soon as mine could crawl I would let them do the stairs (supervised) because not everywhere has stair gates and I wanted them to know how to do them safely.

Ds was a climber. I remember when he was about a year old we were having a picnic in a play park. I looked round and he was on the top of this big wooden climbing things it was as tall as me!

SummerDaize · 13/09/2018 09:10

I forgot, but for quite some time I kept our ladder in the living room, and it's the sort that can be bent into many different shapes. That kept ds busy for a long time. With a blanket over it, it also makes a good house, and with all the couch cushions under it, there can also be a crash mat.

This is the one we have:

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/09/2018 09:46

That is good compensation Jam. It pays for the instant pot!.

15p off 1kg pre-packed onions on topcashback snap and save Confused. They are spoiling us with this one.

Cagliostro · 13/09/2018 09:59

Always the way girlie at the start of the school year, freshers flu isn’t just a university thing! It even happens in home ed just as all the clubs start back. Rowan is down with it now, puked due to coughing in the night. All down my front first, then a few hours later down my back. I am so glad that the new house has a working shower 🤔🙄

I was supposed to see the endocrinologist today as well but obviously not dragging her out (it’s a 90min journey minimum each way) but I phoned up and they have agreed to do it by phone instead! Will just be telling me my results and discharging me I’m pretty certain (I had one dodgy thyroid result but seems it was a fluke). So that saves some money too as I can stay home.

I never caught up on the other thread and I am in no hope for this one! Things have been a bit hectic with the start of term already and we have barely started.

Re climbing babies I reeeeeally want a Spectra (blaming mammy for that as she told me about yesbebe :o) and as it takes up to 60kg the older ones could use it too (sensory seekers)

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/09/2018 10:32

Thyroids can do that if your ill Cag. It's best to check though because it's one of those conditions that people have for years before being diagnosed, like rheumatoid arthritis.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 13/09/2018 13:35

Dd has steroids and antibiotics, they don't take chances with her these days! Can't believe it's two and a half years since she was seriously ill 😮 anything throat related still freaks me out though.

Home now and having a rest now as neck aching.

wreck if your dd is looking for any new books to get in to my dd absolutely loves a series called The Sinclair's Mysteries, she can't stop reading them!

WreckTangled · 13/09/2018 13:44

Thanks girlie have added to her Christmas list. I'm really trying to get her away from Harry Potter Smile

Thatsnotmybookworm · 13/09/2018 14:05

Beautiful boy @ememem84.

Spends today:
£10 lunch on delicous Nasi Goreng; I like to have a main meal at lunch sometimes if DH isn't home for dinner as it feels like it gives me lots of extra time in the evening. Almost uncomfortably full now though!

ememem84 · 13/09/2018 14:26

Spends:

£17 in toyshop on some duplo for ds for his birthday and a bubble wand (he was obsessed with bubbles a few days ago)

£15 Waterstones on three books. Should have been £25 but I had a full stamp card which apparently equals £10 off. Yippee.

I bought:

Dear zoo;
10 little pirates; and
The storm whale (Waterstones lady recommended it - it looks lovely).

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/09/2018 14:31

NSD.

I made golden syrup. Tastes like the stuff you get on toffee apples, I only need it for suet sponge puddings. Hopefully a few days in the jar will "mature" it. 50p for about 600g incl electric.

ChristmasSeacow · 13/09/2018 15:54

How on earth do you make golden syrup? And it is worth it? (Not being rude, it’s just I’ve never heard of it!)

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 13/09/2018 16:00

Is Golden syrup just melted sugar?!

I must be feeling a bit better as I am cleaning the kitchen Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/09/2018 16:13

Basically just melted boiled sugar with acid added. I used 1/8 of a lemon. Takes about an hour.

It needs to mature for a few days. I wouldn't do it if I wasn't so sensitive to sulphite preservatives, tate and lyle use high fructose corn syrup now not sugar and I cant have corn syrup.

Thatsnotmybookworm · 13/09/2018 16:26

High fructose corn syrup in golden syrup? That's outrageous; surely that means its corn syrup then not golden syrup. I'm another corn syrup avoider and I'm horrified Angry

northender · 13/09/2018 16:44

Are there any brands that use sugar? It really pisses me off when formulas/recipes are changed like that.

QuitelovesStrictly · 13/09/2018 16:56

Have you made the sauce for Sticky Toffee pudding Fluffy?
Its divine on other things and you could use vegan "cream"

ChristmasSeacow · 13/09/2018 16:58

Gosh Fluffy your allergies entail a serious amount of effort. Not that golden syrup is a ridiculous effort on its own but adding it all up... ouch.

Not an nsd. Spent about £50 on DS’s birthday gift (numicon, thanks for the idea Cag) and £3 at an ASD coffee morning thingy today. ANd about £12 on a top up shop, mostly fruit.

DD literally slept for just 20m this lunchtime. Hopeless. She is now cranky (= bitey and reckless, so climbing up everything). I’m willing the time away till DH gets back, still 2 hours to go 😬.

Am rejoining slimming world tonight. I’m not keen on the ‘fake food’ stuff (no
Muller light here Hmm) but I find the cooking from scratch stuff really works for me. Lots more veg, some fat but counted. Most importantly, having a weigh-in stops me from putting off starting /discounting bad days here and there. Not much looking forward to going back to my old group, after a new baby, a crap year of emotional eating and a good few extra stone to show for it! Mustn’t put it off any longer...

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/09/2018 17:16

So I read in the guardian North. Tate and Lyle have American owners now. I'm not taking any chances, put it that way.

Sulphites are just widely used so you have to avoid a lot of stuff.

I prefer custard as my main sauce Quite.

QuitelovesStrictly · 13/09/2018 17:22

Sorry Sea
Bitey and Reckless made me laugh Grin
New band name ?

When mine were cranky they always had a nice warm bath, with lots of cups to pour and make "tea".They stayed in until they shrivelled up and then bed pronto after thatWink
Dinner fail-DH forgot to get the right stuff out so will go diving in the freezer Hmm

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/09/2018 17:29

Tesco are giving me £3 e-voucher for the cat food.

QuitelovesStrictly · 13/09/2018 17:33

*Fluffy ,you have sticky toffee sauce and custard with Sticky Toffee Pudding .
There would be a riot if I suggested it was one or the other !

ChristmasSeacow · 13/09/2018 18:02

One or the other? ShockShockHmm

(This is why I need to lose weight Grin)

mammynowanauntyIRL · 13/09/2018 18:19

Toffee sauce & vanilla/caramel ice cream with sticky toffee pudding Grin
