Girlie I remember when that happened but didn't know about the shower message 😱😱😱 people are crazy. I wouldn't bother but I need money from this table to buy a new smaller one!

ememem84 · 23/09/2018 16:41

Thanks guys. I’ll post a pic with the finished cake tomorrow. Eeeek I’m excited. Can’t quite believe my baby booooboooo is going to be a big boy.

LonelyOversharer · 23/09/2018 17:12

Yes em the decent gel colouring goes a long way! Literally 2 drips made an almost black navy here, I was expecting to use the whole bottle. Fab cake. Yy to finished pic, I love a finished pic. You too seacow!

Done a lot of "gardening" - pulling up nettles mostly. But have got tonnes of toms from the greenhouse, and proper big spuds too, plus beans for tea. Back to planning my polytunnel, if the cars ever stop fecking breaking I will save for a properly decent one £883 for a 3x7 meter one with irrigation system and proper fixings, rather than it'ull do stuff.

Looking into a cement mixer full of ready mixed cement tomorrow, we have 2 shed bases, and a 10m path to make.

LonelyOversharer · 23/09/2018 17:18

Cheesed off with ebay. If your buy-it-now item doesn't sell fast enough, ebay allows offers. It is a feature you cannot turn off without going to a desk top, and altering each listing (I have 93 active listings). So this guy offers £17 for some gloves that are £20. I counter offer £19, so he offers £17 again. They are Sealskinz, retail at £35 and are in their packaging ffs. £20 is a steal. Just don't buy them if you don't want them!!

Rant over. Oh, and I declined the £17.

Wolfcub · 23/09/2018 17:55

Furious with h. He’s got ds wound up and kicking off again. We’d beeb having a good day until now. I am mad as hell.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 23/09/2018 18:05

Girlie, glad your relationship with your dad is better now. Lol at the crazy globe lady.
Lonely well done for turning down the offer, bloody cheek of that buyer!
Wolf I would be mad too, you have been working so hard with DS Flowers

LonelyOversharer · 23/09/2018 18:07

Ffs wolf what is wrong with him?? He must know he's doing this to your boy. Is it time to spesk to someone about what the contact is doing to ds? This transistion year into high school is so so hard for them, without a parent causing problems.

How long until bedtime?

Wolfcub · 23/09/2018 18:27

Too long until bedtime as far as I am concerned.

Sadly Lonely I think this is just a case of carelessness and twattery. He is in no uncertain terms of how angry I am right now and he has sent some texts to ds to apologise for causing problems.
On the general crap and his responsibility for ds’s problems I think his head is buried very firmly in the sand

OP posts:
Girliefriendlikesflowers · 23/09/2018 19:19

wolf that sucks, not fair on you or ds.

Wolfcub · 23/09/2018 19:22

Watching swfl with ds. How many holidays ffs

OP posts:
LonelyOversharer · 23/09/2018 19:31

I'm watching the Lego movie! It must have been on a hundred times, but I realised I'd never just sat and watched it. it's good

Will watch swfl when ds is in the bath. It's the only time I can watch sky instead of the ps4 while the spoilty ratbag is awake.

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/09/2018 19:35

I love love the Lego movie. And Lego batman. Ninjago not so.

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/09/2018 19:37

Ah wolf. Do he should apologise. He needs to know he cannot do this as you have to pick up the pieces with DS. You already have a tough enough time. Sorry to sound harsh but he needs to face up to the events he is involved in.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/09/2018 19:52

They've spunked a house deposit on holidays.

Wolfcub · 23/09/2018 19:55

It’s really annoying me Fluffy. After losing a house already you think they would know better. I wouldn’t buy a cheaper tent though unless it had a decent hydrostatic head

Just catching up!

Sorry to hear about your dad Curvy - his funny turn now and the general state of his health /your relationship. You sound very level headed about it.

Wolf Flowers keep trucking, you’re doing such a good job holding things together.

I have quite a bit of success selling things on fb here. Maybe because it’s densely populated so even my very local group has 10k members... and apparently a low ratio of nutters. I also tend to only bother with kids’ stuff, which sells well round here (not so much clothes though)

Yes Em, the food colours, especially gel
Ones, are amazing! Defo don’t put the fondant onto buttercream in advance, it does go funny.

DS did have a good birthday, thanks for all your good wishes. We took the stress out of it by writing a chart of exactly what the day wound comprise and offering him choices about everything. And not doing anything he hasn’t done before. We did the cable car, then a pit stop in Pizza Express (he loves pizza!) and then home via cable car and train again. A very small birthday cake, so we could sing etc, then the main celebrations saved for today. Just close family came over (grandparents and aunts /uncle), it was very nice. I missed my dad though, it was funny without him there. Anyway, I’ll post a pic of the cake when I work out how to cover DS’s name. I was pleased with how it came out though, and he was delighted. Nice and moist inside too.

Now clearing up. My new paella pan is MASSIVE, I panicked a bit when i saw it Shock. Put it on across 4 burners on low and it came out great though! DH is really looking forward to washing it up Grin

Final episode of The Bodyguard tonight - that’s me sorted with a bit of easy knitting! It’s turned really cold here - autumn has arrived with a bang.

I didn’t get that on swfl. Lost a house. Want to buy another one and take 11 holidays in 4 years? Huh!!

No issue with people taking that many holidays but don’t then moan about not having things or security.

We (pre ds) would have spent close to £3k on a “big” holiday for ourselves. Be that two weeks swanning about in Italy or a trip to a sunny resort somewhere. Or a trip to nz.

Our next big trip is likely to be nz in 2021. Dh has a sabbatical then. So he’ll get 3 months off fully paid. He wants to take 10 weeks and spend a month in Aussie a month in nz and with Days somewhere (maybe Dubai) on the way there and back to help with the jet lag. It’ll be a spendy one. But because family is there it shouldn’t be excessive. I don’t think I’ll be able to get all that time off. But will see what work will let me do. But that’s ages away. or is it?! and will frugal it as much as I can. But still want to enjoy ourselves. I’d rather miss out on things here than on holiday. I find travelling very stressful so need the comforts. So would rather frugal here than away.

Anyway. Off track now.

Balloons are blown up. Presents are wrapped. Haven’t gone overboard with ds’ birthday. He’s got some duplo and some books from dh and me. Plus a soccer ball from dh (which is on order). Dm has bought him a push along tricycle. Dsis a mini trampoline.

We’re going to the zoo tomorrow. He’s free. Dh and I will cost £32 enterance fee. Last time dh took ds he was obsessed with a padlock on the gorilla cage... maybe we’ll see it again tomorrow!!!

mammynowanauntyIRL · 23/09/2018 20:41

Cake looks fab must get myself some gel colours & all my cake decorating stuff back from a family friend. Only gave them to her 5 years ago but on the understanding that when I wanted them back I'd get them.

Today I spent
€2 on shopping centre ride as reward for queuing for 1.25 hours for ds's haircut & him behaving during said haircut
€12 on haircut
€146.24 Aldi, forgot oj for ds
€35.10 on overpriced lunch at a garden centre with my friend, mine was fabulous but dc's were only sausage/goujons & chips. If I'd said I couldn't afford it she'd have paid & I didn't want that. She's been a great friend to me with all that's been kicking off at home too
That's €53 eating out in two days though Angry

ememem84 · 23/09/2018 21:08

£7.67 eBay sales. Wahoo

ChristmasSeacow · 23/09/2018 21:12

How do I put a sticker or something over a part of a photo on an iPhone? I know what to do in photoshop but just want to do it quickly on my phone!

Dishwasher didn’t run properly just now - lots of water in the bottom. We’ve cleaned the filter (it wasn’t minging though Hmm) so we are re-running it and hoping for the best. I think it’s still under warranty but even so...

Wolfcub · 23/09/2018 21:15

dudsville · 23/09/2018 21:24

Thanks for the welcome everyone, after posting I promptly lost the thread and it's taken me until now to find it!

I think the simple act of posting here has helped. I'll look up the book recommendation though - every little helps.

I think my "relapse" is one part available funds and one part "tough year syndrome" I.e. emotional shopping. I have probably 20 outfits for work and another 10 for "out" and a good sized drawer dedicated to home and pajamas. I've got about 10 pairs of shoes for work and another 6 to 8 for home. I have more jackets and coats. The fact that my wardrobe meets kondo objectives (not the amount but the other aspects) means that I love my clothes and this in some way helps me keep from gaining weight at least!

I like the suggestion of interpreting the desire to shop as a need to look after myself.

Anyway, thanks again. I'll now try to learn what's going on in the thread!

LonelyOversharer · 23/09/2018 21:29

Just sold 3 bmx wheels!! £130, and only £2 selling fee! they were niche brandy for bmx heads. So pleased as I really did not need them. Or any of this bike shiz.

SWFL...well. They must have thought the mortgage would be like £750/m. But she was concerened that her dc might not have a happy childhood if they lived in a 3 bed house. She lost me right there. I'm never sure if I live on the same planet as some people.

Wolfcub · 23/09/2018 21:37

That’s great Lonely.

I couldn’t believe they could save £56 on a child’s hoody for football. I mean really! The only way ds would get clothing that wasn’t a coat or school shoes that was that expensive was if it was three quarters of his birthday or Xmas present. £8 a month on hair wax for a 12 year old ffs! And those swimming goggles must have been £20 plus a pair as ds has had two of the three pairs they tested so I know how much they cost. And who needs a luxury towel for
Swimming. I mean really. Sorry I’ve got my judgey pants hoiked right up
