Em think you need to have a conversation with your dh about appropriate things to discuss in front of your parents & what's not. I'm mortified at that outburst on your behalf. Quite sure you're not out all day riding & that your dh does activities of his own sometimes too.

I've put ds to bed partly due to poor behaviour and also because I think he's a bit under the weather. H definitely doesn't agree with me on this, however he spent from 9am to 10.30am in ds's company today so he's not in a position to have an opinion. I suspect he's going to take him downstairs again. We will have words if he does. Not in front of dc but later.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 22/09/2018 20:29

Fluffy sometimes you make me laugh out loud Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/09/2018 21:28

Yes please jam. Although I feel it's always me asking for your stuff so don't mind if your say no.

ememem84 · 22/09/2018 21:28

fluffy I have sequinned hotpants. I can’t get rid of them. I’ll never wear them again unless I join the sugababes. But I love them.

I wore them to a works Christmas do once. Under a very short black floaty dress. With boots. And big hair.

mammy I’ve spoken to dh. I asked him how I was at the stables all day when I was clearly in the house for most of it.

Unescorted · 22/09/2018 21:34

My bestest dress was a sequinned with Andy Warhol's soup cans lycra number.... I wish I still had it. It didn't need ironing. What is there not to like.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/09/2018 21:49

Just read on. Send it to lonely of course.

SummerDaize · 23/09/2018 02:46

I used to have a fantastic knitted little black dress (tight and very short) that went with very beautiful glittery butterfly wings (for fancy dress). I thought I looked pretty good in it. I have no idea whether I did as did not have enough money for a camera in those days.

I still have both somewhere actually, so I could just go and check...

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/09/2018 07:27

Bit of a hangover here. Out afternoon drinking with the girls yesterday in a poncy area of the toon.
Spendy £25 my share of the bill. £7 drinks, £xx KFC, £30 decathlon.

Avoided the expensive shops though.

ememem84 · 23/09/2018 07:35

unescorted that dress sounds amazing.

I have (note have) a sequinned Union Jack mini dress (which I wore to a 90’s party) and went as Geri ginger spice. With platform trainers.

I also have an Amy winehouse wig. As a couple of years ago we went to a friends “dead famous” Halloween party. I went as “zombie winehouse”

Up early again today. Am meant to be meeting a friend for breakfast at 10. However. This is right in the middle of ds’ nap time. And I need to get his birthday cake made at some point today. Plan is to cancel on friend (bad bad bad) then bake cake during morning nap. And do the frosting during afternoon nap.

Vanilla sponge filled with vanilla butter cream and a smidge of jam coated in blue butter cream and dinosaurs on top. Then a huge sparkly 1 candle and candles which spell out his name. (There is a Colin the caterpillar for back up....just in case...and if my cake goes well I’ll take Colin to Nursery on Tuesday for ds’ party!)

mammynowanauntyIRL · 23/09/2018 09:00

Could friend come to yours em and you could do both?

ememem84 · 23/09/2018 09:04

No mammy as its her breakfast (she’s invited loads of people and their kids...Dm would have a fit!) I’ve text her and we’re meeting up later in the week.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 23/09/2018 09:18

Ah well at least she's not left with nothing to do either

northender · 23/09/2018 09:24

Just caught up with the last couple of days here.
Happy birthday to your ds Christmas. Hope he enjoyed the cable car ride. I did that a few years ago with dd and my mum. It was good and not too £££.
Welcome duds always lots of support, chat and advice here.
Tayto I'm doing my independent prescribing course, so doing it mostly in work time which is tricky. It's very intense as it's a 4 month programme that I'm on & all the others I know of are 6 months. I'm enjoying it so far, but having to be very organised. It won't mean more money in the end, but my role will develop and be more interesting/challenging.
Dishwasher is a good move! I'd hate to have to go back to handwashing dishes now.
Jam I'd sort of assumed your ds would be going this weekend. My facebook feed has had several sons & daughters going to uni posts the last couple of weekends. A reflection of my age I think!
Mammy hope your ds got a good night's sleep and wasn't interrupted by h.
Wreck you can't call a diabetes monitor frivolous spending. I know you'd rather not be having to spend it but needs must.
Lonely that's great to have paid off so much. Your life must be different with the new(ish) job.
Girlie the Annie trip sounds like a great idea. Didn't you do something similar this year? Good of your mum to help out too. Keep Christmas simple, listen to Martin Lewis' Christmas advice/rant, again and again!
Born hope you're feeling better
Unescorted those pastries sound very impressive
Bit of a strange couple of days here. I did an early class on Friday morning & then spent the day in the hospital doing observation for my course. From about lunchtime, my ankle got more and mor painful & stiff. I managed to walk home but it was really swollen. By yesterday morning I was struggling to weight bear and it was more swollen. I rested all day & took regular ibuprofen. Today it is better than yesterday but still sore & swollen. I've had a few odd joint "flare ups" lately and am a bit concerned so had already booked a GP appointment for Thursday. I'm pissed off as I'm trying to lose weight and exercise but these problems keep getting in the way & then I feel sorry for myself & tend to eat more!
Last night was good as we were all at home & watched "What we did on our holiday" on dvd. Dh and I saw it when it came out at the cinema a few years back. Dd & ds both enjoyed it & it was good to do something together. Now the cricket season is done we will try to do it more often.
Today we are heading for Ambleside as sil & family are on holiday in the Lakes. I'm going to call at Lakeland and see if they will replace the sandwich toaster we bought in December last year. The catch on the handle is on it's way out possibly due to ds putting too much filling in his toasties! so fingers crossed (it wasn't cheap), their customer service is usually very good.
Right now I must get on with the reference list for the assignment due tomorrow!!

Wolfcub · 23/09/2018 09:27

I’m also in the don’t know if I have a hangover or a headache camp. Oops.

Trying to get ds to get dressed for his activity and need to pick his friend up on the way. I am considering buying a massive wall clock for his room as his sense of time has gone completely to hell. Df was delighting in telling me I was just as messy and slow as a teenager - he’s finding it highly amusing

christmas will be a bit crazy this year. New house. Ds’ first “proper” Christmas - by that I mean he’ll be more aware of what’s going on. I’ve been saving £50 a month since the new year. It gives me a ridiculous budget for Christmas but this will cover gifts for everyone on my side, tree, ds’ gifts, food and drink etc.

Wolfcub · 23/09/2018 09:37

Does anyone know anything about amazon pricing rules? Item orders a few weeks ago at price a, price has fluctuated in the last few weeks and is now price b. Payment for the item taken today for delivery tomorrow at price a. Can I challenge this and get a refund so that I pay price b?

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 23/09/2018 09:40

You can try wolf but they don't have to honour it. They did used to but I've had them refuse before so I've just returned the order and re ordered at the lower price

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 23/09/2018 09:47

Morning all.
Today I need to return an amazon order to one of their lockers, never done this before and dd2 is very excited to come and push the buttons for me.
Then may go into morrisons as they have a jumper that is very autumnal and I keep eyeing it up every time I go in, it is £14, so not that expensive, but I always feel a bit guilty about spending money on me.

ememem84 · 23/09/2018 09:52

I’d give it a try wolf you’ve lost nothing by asking.

LonelyOversharer · 23/09/2018 09:57

Right. Need motivation. I am going out to the garden to sort the veg patch out. Except it is freeeeezing today. Other jobs include listing the winter gloves snd shoes on ebay. Got a load of tyres listed yesterday. I dislike tyres. The smell makes me want to puke (when you have 40 in a big pile).

QuitelovesStrictly · 23/09/2018 10:18

Morning All !
Rainy and cold here but that means tea and knitting and Dcats are in and snuggling.
Cake sounds lovely em
Why would your DM be funny about mums and babies going out for breakfast ?Confused
Ive got a Christmas fund going but have also been buying presents as I go.
We are fairly predictable as regards presents Grin books, socks, aftershave/perfume,nice bath stuff,Pjs ,vouchers for favorite shops oh and yarn of courseGrin
Have Sainsburys and Co op points for the food .
Hope everyone has a nice Sunday

Taytocrisps · 23/09/2018 10:43

It's a lovely sunny day here today so I'm planning to do lots of washing. I need to give the house a good clean too. Quick and easy pasta dinner and then DD and I will watch 'The Greatest Showman'.

Hope the birthday cake turns out well em. When do you think you'll get to move into your new house?

The jumper is very reasonable Cury ennabling

What did you think of Strictly? The only celebs I knew at the start of the series were Susannah from 'What Not to Wear' (I never watched the programme though) and Stacey Dooley because DD has watched some of her programmes. DD is very excited about the You Tuber being on it . I couldn't help feeling sorry for Susannah - she looked very unhappy after her performance and the judges' comments. I usually enjoy it more after the first few contestants have gone and the remaining contestants start to rise to the challenge of the different dances. I don't know much about dance techniques and I find Shirley's comments interesting but I wish they'd show an example of what she's talking about - you know the way in football or rugby when the experts are talking, they show some clips from the game to illustrate their points. Some fab dresses although I'd never have an occasion to wear any of them.

WreckTangled · 23/09/2018 10:58

Chocolate banana flapjacks in the oven. First time I've tried them so will let you all know if they're successful... chilli in the slow cooker. Still need to get the dc to do the homework 🙄

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 23/09/2018 10:59

Morning all, we're just getting going here, we were up in the night as dd is still coughing but both ended up having a long lie in!

north yes we do a musical every year, this year was Hairspray which was excellent. We tend to wait til they come to Bristol as much cheaper than getting to London! Hope your ankle is okay, have you had problems with your joints before? Well done on doing the prescribing course, I keep thinking I should do some more training but lack motivation!

No plans today, dd has homework to do and may pop out to see a friend later.

Bornlazy · 23/09/2018 11:05

Morning everyone. Feeling better today thanks. It’s raining here so will just chill out watching tv. Might try a game of monopoly later.

I watched Strictly last night. I don’t think I’ve ever watched it right from the start so it’ll be interesting to see how they all improve.

Welcome duds. The adverts can be a real pain, they actually irritate me more than make me want to buy anything, but I can see how if there’s something you’re trying to avoid buying it’s totally in your face.
