Always a bonus when you don't light yourself on fire 🔥 Grin

Thatsnotmybookworm · 18/09/2018 15:01

Yesterday was NSD.

Spends today
£4 lunch
£18 supermarket (mostly coffee capsules so much more frugal than Nespresso ones)
£5 DS vests

I spotted a few nice homeware bits on my lunch though; didn't have time to buy them but my next lunchtime walk may be more expensive!

You sound like a lovely mummy @mammy, and your DC sound very sweet.

Justanothermile · 18/09/2018 15:33

Sounds like you handled it well mammy, the nuances of a female 'friendship' are bloody tricky. It's so hard to know when to intervene or not. There were times when I stepped in when perhaps I ought to have stood back, and times when I should have got involved and didn't.

girlie I've just had the best walk with my dogs. It's glorious here and the colours are starting to be autumnal and the dogs were just good fun chasing about, it really cheered me up.

Re Dd presents, Dd likes lip balms and similar type items from the Body Shop, they all seem to love mini cacti at present. Socks, gloves, maybe a voucher for nails or similar to make her feel grown up? Always riding clothes. Maybe a photo in a frame of the dog? Simple cookery book? Phone case? Cinema tickets?

Justanothermile · 18/09/2018 15:35

Fork always for Yorkshire's and always like to be busy too curves.

SummerDaize · 18/09/2018 16:43

I always think so too mammy.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 18/09/2018 17:15

My appointment went well, consultant said I've got nerve damage and it can take up to 5 months to heal! I seriously hope it's not that long!! He seemed to think it should improve with time and physio so fingers crossed.

Spent £3.50 on parking and a chicken bake.

SummerDaize · 18/09/2018 17:21

Girlie that's fantastically positive to know that it's likely to heal. I'm so glad to hear that.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 18/09/2018 17:45

That's good news that injury will heal, any advice on how to best manage it in the meantime?

Wolfcub · 18/09/2018 18:14

I haven’t read the thread yet. Just wanted to check in and mark my place. I’m away with work. I got up at 4 and I’ve only just left the office. Was silly to be having dinner with a friend but she’s had a family catastrophe so I am dining alone (all fine with me) and trying to avoid h who is also away with work in the same place. Hotel minging but I’m going to crash and watch bake off as soon as I’ve eaten.

Good news about your arm girlie hopefully the physio will help.

Just made lonely's flapjacks OMG they are amazing!!

Wolfcub · 18/09/2018 18:18

Great news Girlie
Em checking on those cars sounds interesting I bet they are swanky ones

Justanothermile · 18/09/2018 18:20

Good news girlie. Don't forget that, even if it takes a full five months, it's healing so it won't feel as bad as you've done recently for the full five months if you understand? It will improve. You probably won't always notice as the improvements can be slow but you won't be in this much discomfort all the time. Physio will help for sure as you've probably got tense and this compounds everything. I'm an expert with nerve painGrin

Menu plan
Tonight - beef chilli and veggie chilli, rice.
Tomorrow- chilli again with jacket spuds or wedges.
Thursday - egg based meal as I've got loads, my ladies are in overdrive. Will bake also.
Friday - sweet potato and lentil curry with rice (cheap and yum)
Saturday - jambalaya
Sunday - full roast dinner as the family are over, it's DS's last weekend.
Monday - stir fry (tofu/chicken)
Tuesday - sweet potato and black bean wraps.
Wednesday - sausage pasta bake (veggie and pork).
Thursday - soup and crusty bread.
Friday - Thai curry.
Saturday - lasagna
Sunday - tagine and giant cous cous.

Lunches - I'll make hummus, freekah salad, chickpea tuna, pasta and we will use leftovers.

I've also found our Tim Vine tickets that I bought 8 months ago and forgot that I had purchased, that's a week on Tuesday and am excited as I love Tim Vine.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 18/09/2018 18:53

Jam any chance of that curry recipe? Bought sweet potato as reduced to 49c and was going to make chips but that sounds good Grin only if it's convenient to you though

Justanothermile · 18/09/2018 19:06

mammy. Do you have YouTube? I'm probably asking a stupid question but I'm not the YouTube generationGrin. Anyway, if you search Bosh.TV. It's a vegan 'site' on there, and look for Roast Sweet Potato Dhal. It's quite far down their recipes. And annoying that you have to keep pausing the video but worth it, as the dhal is fab for roasting the potatoes and tomatoes. And it's actually really simple to make.

If you can't find then I'm happy to link.

They do a pretty good vegan recipe book actually, I use their houmous recipes and stir fry sauce recipes a lot.

Wolfcub · 18/09/2018 19:09

Jam your meal plan sounds lovely.

I have gin and cold pills kill or cure!

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/09/2018 19:26

Good news on the diagnosis girlie. YY take the time to get better though.

£13 in Sainsbury's on fruit.
£3 cubs

Sorry your hotel is horrible wolf. Defo watch bake off and rest.
I've cancelled London next week.

Love your meal plan jam. How is cooking meat and meat free meals. Ok or a pain?

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/09/2018 19:28

Tried to buy the Alderhey PJ's but dd size OOS. Then my bike wasn't on the decathlon site.
Got a primark voucher with my cash back

thistimenextsummer · 18/09/2018 19:32

Wolf I dream of a job where I get sent away to minging hotels 😂 - lovely dinner by myself, watching tv in bed uninterrupted! No such luck in my job. I had to laugh at the thought of you avoiding dh!
£9.25 meeting friend for late lunch/early tea with the kids.

Cleaner has been today but money doesn't come out until tomorrow.

ememem84 · 18/09/2018 21:19

wolf some of the cars include:

  • rolls Royce phantom
  • couple of bentleys
  • a classic jag
  • a (mingling) yellow Porsche
  • Ferrari
  • a Lamborghini
  • a Delorean
  • Land Rover
  • and a ton of classic old classic cars.

I’m not a car person. So I don’t get it really.

His mechanic was super nice. Said if I take my car up there next week he’ll sort the dents and scratches out for me. Wooohoooo

Have updated my cv so I can submit the application for new course. Yippee.

Outfit chosen for tomorrow. Things all ready for the morning.

thistimenextsummer · 18/09/2018 21:19

Blush wolf I'm really sorry - think I might have got the vibe completely wrong there re 'h'. I'm just getting to know the thread and think you may be avoiding for actual reasons, rather than my imagined scenario where i was dreaming of a night to myself. Sorry if any offence caused x

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 18/09/2018 22:02

Thanks all for the good wishes, thank you jam it is reassuring to know you've recovered so well from nerve damage and are now so fit!!

mammynowanauntyIRL · 18/09/2018 22:13

I'm not YouTube generation either but can work it so will check that out, thanks jam

Wolf I hope you managed to avoid H, how do you manage with ds when you've to go away for work?

Wind is really picking up outside.

Was at a parenting class given by a play therapist, nothing I didn't hear of already but nice to thrash things out with other parents, free bottle of vit hit water was supplied for us and lots of teas/coffees/cookies I stuck to my bottle of water I'd brought along.

I'm a car person I'd have loved to see them Grin

Wolfcub · 19/09/2018 07:09

Thistime no offence taken don’t worry. Indeed when we have both been away with work in the same place in the past I have avoided for just that reason.
Mammy ds is with dps. He stays over one night a week so I can work and then when I’m away overnight they have him an extra night. I don’t know what I’d do without them

Em I’d love your job, I rather like cars

OP posts:
thistimenextsummer · 19/09/2018 07:21

Phew! Thanks wolf.

I'm having one of those weird mornings where no-one else is awake. The children who often wake at 5am...not a peep. I'm fighting the urge to go and check on them (does everyone else do this too?!! I'm a bit worried but also relishing a cup of tea on my own!). I've already managed to prep dinner in the slow cooker and make picnic tea for swimming. I will check in 5 mins...
