Sorry to all of my family heritage but Yorkshire's bleurgh. I make then but I don't like them

Need wraps, apples, raspberries, and other fruit today

ememem84 · 18/09/2018 06:41

Contemplating getting up. My seminar starts at 830. So I’ll need to leave here at around 750. Sigh.

ememem84 · 18/09/2018 06:46

I’ve adjusted my existing bank standing orders last night. Once new accounts open and I have the numbers I can do the transfers and set up the stuff.

The guy at Lloyd’s kept reminding me I can transfer a max of £2000 into my new saver a month. Which I won’t be doing. As I don’t have that spare...

But I was clever when I set the ac up and said I’d transfer £100. It’ll mean my “big” (or not so any more...) saver with Hsbc won’t grow as quick but at least I get better interest. 2.2% if I only take money out twice a year. 0.85% if I make more than 6 withdrawals 1.something% if between 2-6 withdrawals. So even at its lowest % it’s still better than Hsbc.

I’m feeling smug now as I’ve finally taken my own advice and have taken all my eggs out of one basket so to speak. I’ve been telling my clients for at least the last year to have money in more than one bank. But never done it myself.

I’d suggest to you guys to do it too. Just a basic account. Just in case your regular bank had issues with their payments or online stuff. You’ve still got access.

QuitelovesStrictly · 18/09/2018 06:47

I use Delia for Yorkshires .
Always add an extra egg and whisk like mad.
They hit the top of the oven .
Decided last night to go up early and read .
Just woke up Blush
Coffee and pancakes mmmm

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/09/2018 07:25

£10.25 Sainsbury's stamps and raspberries. Can't find the fucking stamps I bought yesterday

mammynowanauntyIRL · 18/09/2018 07:38

snuggly have them with some lemon curd le yum

mammynowanauntyIRL · 18/09/2018 07:40

life maybe you could have some of ems bastard ones Grin
Nothing more annoying. I used to keep some in my wallet until I realised if I use the franking machine at work I save money as they get a reduced rate.

CurlsandCurves · 18/09/2018 08:01

Snuggly you can definitely have Yorkshire’s for breakfast! Like Mammy says, bit of lemon curd, splodge of jam....

Thanks for the Yorkshire pud tips, I’ll give them a go. I think whisking is my issue as they’re ok tasting usually, just flat.

Busy day of work, food shop, more work, get kids from school, more work. I don’t mind tho, I like the feeling of being busy.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 18/09/2018 08:05

How to put this without sounding like a mother with a pfb.
Dd is going to an activity on mon nights 6.30-8pm, I didn't want her to because she'll be tired for the week. We'd to finish her homework after she came back last night. She asked if we could talk first and then she started crying. A girl who used to be her friend in school and her have not been close for over a year. She has spoken about this girl being mean and lying. I've witnessed the meanness first hand at a playdate at our house. They've been put sitting next to each other at school and from what I can gather, that girl is causing a bit of havoc in the class, but slipping under the teachers radar. I suggested the next time she does something like spilling water that dd tell her it's wrong and if it continues perhaps to draw the teachers attention to it.

Then she bursts out crying, but I don't want to hurt her feelings! I comforted her and said that her feelings matter too. She's a worrier and always worried about others before herself.

Funny story too, last week I collected ds and his classmate from school and took them home. Ds friend saw me from behind and said you've a big bottom. I said that's right, I do. Ds in the meantime jumped to my defence, she doesn't have a big bottom, don't say things like that about my mammy. It was so cute how loyal he was to me. I said to ds, he's right I do have a big bottom but it's not nice to talk about other people's bodies in case you hurt their feelings.

Did I handle these two situations correctly?

Wolfcub · 18/09/2018 08:16

Mammy it sounds like you handled both perfectly

The cost of stamps makes my eyes water

I don’t whisk my Yorkshire’s. The best they get is beaten with a fork. They are spot on every time (except when I’m an idiot and open the oven door too early)

SnugglySnerd · 18/09/2018 08:18

Yes I think you did Mammy. Bless your ds! I'm making a conscious effort at school to switch around seating plans every few weeks so that nobody gets stuck next to the naughty kid all year. It was appreciated last term! I think you should perhaps mention the problems with this girl to the teacher and see if she could move them.

My gran used to have Yorkies with golden syrup on. Mmmmmmm.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 18/09/2018 09:32

Morning all

mammy your kids sound lovely, I think if your dd is upset I'd mention it to the teacher. I used to go in all the time with dd. Our children are precious and we are their only advocate so I didn't worry too much if the teachers rolled their eyes at me 😉 (which tbf they never did to my face 😂) I think I would have told the boy making personal comments is rude and given him a hard stare!

Plan today is to do some sorting at home and I've got my orthopaedic appointment this afternoon, typically in the last day or two it's finally feeling better but will be good to see what they think anyway.

ChristmasSeacow · 18/09/2018 09:57

Hello!

Mammy I would have laughed off the big bottom comment, while not being impressed at his manners! I doubt your bottom is that big either! As for dd that is hard... I probably would speak to the teacher about not making a big deal if it but maybe swapping the class seating arrangement around. It seems a bit unfair for anyone to be stuck next to someone who’s making them uncomfortable.

Glad the arm feels a bit better Girlie

£14 top up shop in Tescos already. Might take DD to another music thing at 10.30 if she doesn’t fall asleep before then! DM is arriving later and staying for a few days. Phew, someone else to share the walking DD round in circles with!

ChristmasSeacow · 18/09/2018 10:01

Ooh meant to ask - does anyone get kidstart cashback to track with Amazon? I don’t think mine ever has, although my JL purchases do. I don’t always remember to use it for Amazon but I just did, for an £80 purchase for PILs, so I will see if that shows up and if not, raise a query.,

ememem84 · 18/09/2018 11:23

Oh. Dear. God. The seminar was dullllll. And the pastries were mediocre. Haha. I only go to the ones with food!

Now at work. Yawn.

Not much in today work wise. But am bumbling through. Have sent my comments on the contract for the new house to our lawyer. So hopefully he can answer some questions we raised.

Should be nsd today. Yippee.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 18/09/2018 11:27

Those of you with older dds what's on their Christmas list this year? Once again I'm struggling for ideas!

The dogs gone, will miss her. She is everything a good dog should be, fun, friendly and bonkers! Her owner gave me a lovely bunch of flowers by way of a thank you which was kind.

WreckTangled · 18/09/2018 12:24

School phoned to pick dd up. She seems fine to me. She actually told them that I had said after 11 I would be able to pick her up (I said I was busy at work until 11) and they called me at 11:08.

£80 on cursed child tickets for next year. This will be DD's birthday present.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 18/09/2018 12:49

Thanks everyone
Girlie hope your appointment gives you some info
Seacow I've actually got big thighs but my bottom is average enough, his mum would be much slimmer & taller though Smile

Groupon gave me €5 in groupon bucks as compo

Bornlazy · 18/09/2018 12:49

Sea I use KidStart for Amazon and it usually works for me. It didn't for my first purchase which was my most expensive (mobile phone) but it seems ok now. I just find it takes a long time to add up as a lot of my purchases are small, so it's 20p here and there.

Should be lsd today just need bread.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 18/09/2018 12:50

Thanks girlie they're very sweet children & I'm always impressed with their manners. Ds can be hard work though

ememem84 · 18/09/2018 13:13

Picked up nappies and have checked on my clients cars. All 26 of them are present and correct. And all have the new insurance discs on them now.

thistimenextsummer · 18/09/2018 13:29

Aaaaahhhhhhh finally having a chance to sit down with a cuppa, in my actual lunch break, rather than working through as usual. It's nice to catch up in the day!

Mammy it sounds like you handled both situations perfectly and your children's responses to both are a reflection room on the great job you're doing.

£2.95 post office.

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/09/2018 13:32

KidStart and Quidco can be very hit and miss ime but other people find them reliable.

NSD.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 18/09/2018 14:06

We were hit with a malware attack at work last night, all my work is handwritten today & will have to be put into computer when we get going Sad

SummerDaize · 18/09/2018 14:20

Sorry to hear that mammy. That sounds really annoying and time consuming.

I just tried putting a new pad into a bass clarinet with a blow torch. It went quite well and I didn't light myself on fire.
