this I haven't mentioned anything to DH about being frugal either, but interestingly, my choices are rubbing off on him a lot.

em wow! That is excellent packing.

Been to soft play this morning with a large group so it was really fun. £6.95 for entrance, £4..95 for two coffees and a slush. It was expensive but at least we had a few hours out and I don't feel like sticking my head in the oven like yesterday.

ememem84 · 16/08/2018 13:01

Dh and the removals guys did the packing. Like a real life game of Tetris.

We’re cleaning now. I smell of bleach. #bleachy

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 16/08/2018 13:03

Found you! Can't believe how chatty you lot are 😃

Well done to your ds jam amazing!

Sorry to hear your fibro is playing up cag our board games are organised by largest at the bottom 😂

Well done on the packing em

When is the plan to move out mammy? I don't know how you've managed to stay in the same house for so long, you have the patience of a saint!!

We are currently at a theme park in Devon, dd is having fun on the death slides and I'm having a cuppa. Ystd we went to lundy, the boat ride over was an experience in itself as the sea was very choppy and lots of people were being sick 😵 can't say I enjoyed it tbh!! Dd however loved every minute, we saw lots of wildlife including seals and dolphins 🐬 home later today.

Have spent loads, £100 spending money, £90 for the 3 of us to go to lundy (I paid as mum has paid for everything else!) £30 to get in here today.

We stayed at a youth hostel which was nice, very family friendly and means you can save money on food at least! !

Flappyjack · 16/08/2018 13:04

Ha. Yes. Tetris.

Your removal men definitely have skills.

Justanothermile · 16/08/2018 13:08

Yes, I think that's how it works quite. He could have applied for a Bsc over 3 too. In fact, he actually only had the grades for the latter, so there's been some leniency from the Uni.

The finance is scary isn't it? I've got DD going next year too. The reduction in cost of the pony will cover some, and I've an endowment policy to mature next year. They've both got about 3k in accounts that I have literally been saving since they were born, a bit a month, not much but 18 years of 'a bit' adds up.

Can you remember how they go about applying for the tuition fee? He's registered etc and been approved for his maintenance loan. I need to look into that.

Frugally, most of the stuff from the horse box will cover the bedding and cutlery etc side of things but

TakeItSlow · 16/08/2018 13:13

Our board games are in the attic, not organised by any system at all. I wonder if I'm missing something?

QuitelovesStrictly · 16/08/2018 13:14

I didnt do it this I left it to the DC .
I havent been involved in the student loan/finance side of things just the constantly shelling out cash side of things .
It has been way more than I ever expected and student loan didnt even cover both rents as in an expensive area.Sad

QuitelovesStrictly · 16/08/2018 13:15

Sorry Just not This

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 16/08/2018 13:54

em, that is some serious skill.
jam, congrats to your ds.
girlie, sounds like you have had a wonderful holiday.

lifelongfrugaleer · 16/08/2018 14:48

It's too bloody hot.....

Well done jam ds

TakeItSlow · 16/08/2018 14:59

Is it hot where you are? We're very relieved that it's not hot here any more.

I just replaced all of our socks and it cost £90. I had no idea that something so mundane could cost so much. I'm glad I didn't have to knit them though. Phew!

WreckTangled · 16/08/2018 15:05

How many socks did you buy?! 🤣

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/08/2018 15:38

Jam I am so pleased for him and you. If he's graduating at 22 with an MSci he could go straight on to do a PhD. He might get funding for the PhD from a prospective employer. Try wilko for the stuff he'll need. I very rarely buy a dud from there.

Is it cheaper to buy him a house up there than pay rent?.

£9 homebargains.

£2 morrisons
£10 petrol.

TakeItSlow · 16/08/2018 16:19

15 pairs each.

ScandiLady · 16/08/2018 16:39

We don't own any board games Blush but luckily university and college is free and we get paid to study Smile
Came home to nice clean house and all dishes done and food ready for showing in the oven, thanks dh... nsd

Cagliostro · 16/08/2018 17:18

So for several hours today we had 23 people here! Noisy but so much fun. Family game night tomorrow.

Excellent packing skills em aka tetris champ 2018!

Definitely missing a trick with the games take it's harder to play them if they're hiding in the attic Wink

Cagliostro · 16/08/2018 17:19

And huge congratulations to jamDS not to mention excellent subject choice!

Justanothermile · 16/08/2018 17:45

Gosh that's a lot of folk cag! Are you feeling a little better today? It wouldn't be my first choice for a degree but he's happySmile

Thanks fluffy, it's four years and he's nearly 19 so might have to start his PhD a little later! Wilko is a good shout, I haven't fully got up to speed with all this aspect, we knew we'd got some provision financially by planning.

I'm impressed with a welcome package dropping through the door from the university, on results day. Clever.

NSD.

But we do need milk.

That's impressive from your husband scandi, I'd be so pleased with DH if that happening. I would have to sit down with shock, but very pleased.

Are you having a flush lifeGrinGrin

ememem84 · 16/08/2018 17:52

Oh I didn’t do the packing....I paid the removal men to do that. £225. But money well spent.

We are done.

Flat is empty. And we have to post the keys through the post box tomorrow.

I’ve finally had a shower. No longer stink of bleach!!! Yay!!!!

Now tidying up our room at dparents. There is stuff everywhere.

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/08/2018 17:55

JAM Ikea too but theres loads of threads in higher education.

Shopmium are doing half price harringtons dry cat food for half price from Tesco.

TakeItSlow · 16/08/2018 18:12

Ds says he wants me to buy "distressed carrot jeans" from Next. I'm not sure I can cope with sad vegetable trousers.

Lovemaltesers · 16/08/2018 18:23

I just looked on the next website expecting jeans with carrots on 😂

TakeItSlow · 16/08/2018 18:25

It's a clever marketing ploy. Really they should make that search lead to something that we do secretly want to buy and then they'd have us when our guard is down.

Lovemaltesers · 16/08/2018 18:25

I obviously know little about fashion 😆

TakeItSlow · 16/08/2018 18:26

Me too. I just wanted to buy trousers. It turns out not to be possible. In the end I bought no trousers, which was easier.
