Now that I've put that in the title, we will almost certainly get snow. LOL!

Welcome to nearly-August.

Oooh, new winter boots. Mine are several years old and quite dated looking, so I am definitely in the market for some new ones this year!

DH is wanting to get us all out of the house today. Not sure where to yet. It’s going to be heaving wherever we go. And it’s mega hot. Can you tell I really can’t be bothered? 😄

ememem84 · 05/08/2018 08:56

Emails I’ve received this morning:

Hush sale - 70% off
White stuff - 50% off
Photobox - 50% off

ememem84 · 05/08/2018 08:57

wolf photobox code SALE10 gives an additional 10% off.

WreckTangled · 05/08/2018 09:01

I want leather uggs. Knee high but can never find them in my size. Common size 5.

SnugglySnerd · 05/08/2018 09:02

My winter boots are old too. I might relegate them to walks with the dcs and get some new ones for work etc with my birthday money (assuming I get some!).

QuiteCleanBandit · 05/08/2018 09:15

I have walking boots, proper snow boots and ice grips (10 years old and still fine, worth every penny)"country boots" for muddy walks, black long and brown long-same "riding style" several pairs of ankle boots in tan, grey, black and brown.
My favorites are my R&B black high heeled ankle boots .
In the boot box in the hall are a few pairs of old boots that I keep for atrocious weather so I dont ruin my nice ones.
I have a good selection of boot socks -got some nice ones in Aldi yesterday .
I need a pair of nice tan boots to replace an old trashed pair .

ememem84 · 05/08/2018 09:31

Oh and 15% off feelunique.com in case anyone needs make up/toiletries.

I have:

  • my dubarry country boots for icky weather I wear these to and from work as well as for walking in the winter. Absolutely worth the hideous cost
  • two pairs of ankle boots - Black and Tan with a bit of a heel
  • flat tan knee high boots - from Clark’s
  • smart riding boots
  • jodhpur boots.
  • three pairs of trainers - converse, Adidas superstars and a pair from newlook. And my gym trainers.

I had an awesome pair of black suede slouchy flat calf length boots from dune which I ditched this year as they were just wrecked. I’d worn them to absolute death.

Want another pair. So will keep an eye out.

Re the uggs. I’m just after a pair of the classic tall ones. Knee high. Chestnut colour. Superbly impractical shoes. But so comfortable. While I was on mat leave I wore mine to absolute death. So comfy.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/08/2018 09:33

Now is a really good time to get boots re-heeled and soled.

Shoeaholics do uggs, I think there are other shoe outlets but I cant remember the name. Moneysaving expert will know.

Loveabaconsandwich · 05/08/2018 09:34

I love spring as it makes winter be over, and then I love autumn and cold crisp days when you can wrap up yet not be absolutely freezing. These are also the seasons when we are more likely to visit the beach/ go for walks etc, as we rarely go when it is boiling or busy. As long as it is not pouring with rain ☔️

This year I am excited to get the DDs some nice boots. I bought cheap ones last year thinking they would not be worn much and they wore them loads.

Woke up with a stonking headache so quiet day here I hope.

Wolfcub · 05/08/2018 09:38

Thanks Em. Ds has decided he wants to Lego so no picnic for us. To be fair I’m too hot to be bothered anyway!
I’ve woken up with a lovely big bite on the back of my leg which is throbbing like mad. Sleeping with the windows open has its downsides

QuiteCleanBandit · 05/08/2018 09:48

My boots/shoes are cleaned /reheeled before I put them away for summer Fluffy
😇😇😇
Likewise coats/knitwear are cleaned .
I cant put stuff away "dirty" and Im terrifed of moths.
All my knitwear is in sealed bags .
I was on the French S&B thread and there was talk of coats last year-must pop back as Im after a new one.
I dont buy clothes very often but always get good quality.

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 05/08/2018 10:09

Christmas I love the "Throbbing metropolis" comment. ROFL!

Flowers for Girlie and I hope the headache is better this morning.

Wreck any sign of bikes and/or money that owed to you?

No sunny but a kind lady saw my fb post and said she thinks she has a bike in her garage that we could have Smile so kind.

Have just done DD's hair, wish I could fresh plait my own hair but I just can't do it at all!

QuiteCleanBandit · 05/08/2018 10:23

Have you been for a walk around the neighbourhood Wreck
Often see abandoned bikes that have probably been taken as not locked ,ridden and then dumped.
We are in a very naice area also -£million houses .
If its not locked someone will take it is the reality everywhere sadly.
Can you claim on insurance ?
We have road bikes so insured for those plus commuter bikes.

WreckTangled · 05/08/2018 10:24

Bandit it was in a massive national trust park that we lost it. Not insured we were given it and it's not worth much New it was not a Raleigh bike.

QuiteCleanBandit · 05/08/2018 10:26

Oh I see -aaah well

Wolfcub · 05/08/2018 10:35

Can anyone remind me what the rule for cutting back Lupins is? I should have pinned the post when I saw it

QuiteCleanBandit · 05/08/2018 10:47

No idea Wolf but someone will know.
I planted some last year and by next morning the slugs had eaten them down to the ground 😭😭😭

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 05/08/2018 10:53

Morning all, I'm still in bed! Planning on a lazy day today so off to a good start!

You can cut the flower stems back wolf but tbh this hot weather has killed back my lupins anyway 😢 they flowered all summer last year.

I love autumn as well, autumn and spring are my favourite months. I have one pair of red knee high leather boots which I wear constantly as soon as it's cold enough, if it's not cold enough I wear my converse, I have one pair of ankle boots which are pretty ancient now. I also have trainers to run in and work shoes and that's it. I do have one pair of heels actually but again they're ancient and rarely worn!!

For my bday party I will need lovely new shoes.

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 05/08/2018 10:54

That's great about the bike Wreck. Glad someone's helping. Your dd's hair looks lovely. Maybe she will do yours soon?

I don't know much about lupins. They don't grow here and no one seems to know why. I always liked them at home.

Ds’ room hoovered. And I have now got 4 bags for the charity shop. Hmm.

Dh is at fils with ds (fil was out yesterday so he pooped in to see a family friend instead). Im Cleaning.

I didn’t want to clean today but it needs to be done and it’s easier without ds here. Dh was a bit miffed that I didn’t want to go to fils. But he gets a nice clean house. And I don’t want to sit and chat about mundane things. Yawn. I put in an appearance every other time. And I Skyped mil with him this morning.

WreckTangled · 05/08/2018 11:01

She tried sunny but she's awful Grin I'm sure she will get better...

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 05/08/2018 11:08

LOL! Wreck I suppose everybody starts somewhere. Grin

Cag, and anyone else who’s interested, Tesco have Method floor cleaner on offer 3 for £6. It’s £4 each so this seems quite a bargain.
