Now that I've put that in the title, we will almost certainly get snow. LOL!

Welcome to nearly-August.

Try photobox maybe wolf

Wolfcub · 04/08/2018 21:15

Thanks Em. They look like they do what I’m thinking off. Will look around for a voucher as it’s for a homework project

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 04/08/2018 21:42

I just noticed that it's meant to be three more days of hot weather, and then back to nice normal cool weather again. I think that might be a bit of a blessed relief tbh. It'll be weird to wear trousers again. I'm basically used to being semi-naked all the time now.

WreckTangled · 04/08/2018 21:44

It's weird isn't it sunny? The thought of putting on a chunky knit is very strange indeed, although a lovely thought, I love autumn. Have been enjoying all the sunshine though I have to say. Poor dh has been outside working on a roof for practically the whole of the heatwave and I think he's over it.

Loveabaconsandwich · 04/08/2018 21:48

Grin sunny. I was wearing a dress today which would have been far too short to leave the house in as it kept riding up. I've said to DP we can plan some days out next week once the weather is more normal.

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 04/08/2018 21:49

Oh my goodness Wreck I don't know how your dh does that. I would have been cooked right through ages ago. I always feel for people who have to work outside in extreme temperatures. That must be hard in the very depths of winter and in the very hot summer.

I've been enjoying the sunshine too. I really like a bit of summer sunshine. I think maybe I am more of a 25 degree person than a 30 degree person though. I have no idea what 22 is going to feel like. I think that might be a tad chilly until we can find the jumpers again.

I think all the knitters may have the advantage there.

I think the dvds on the get rid of pile are worth in grand total about £6.50 on music magpie fluffy

Wolfcub · 04/08/2018 21:58

Love you need to compare sites. So me dvds will be worth more on zavvi and some on music magpie

QuiteCleanBandit · 04/08/2018 22:08

I just got a spam email with the subject line "Get a full face of botox".
I really do not want to do that.

Sunny have you gone soft? 22 is positivity tropical for Scotland 😜

Last few days have been spendy. Feel like I won’t get back into a frugal routine until the kids are back at school, which for us us is 10 days away.

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/08/2018 22:18

You used to be able to get cashback on music magpie too. £6.50 is easily spent and the children can pack the boxes for you.

Wolfcub · 04/08/2018 22:19

I love autumn too Quite

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 04/08/2018 22:20

LOL! Born, yes I know what you mean. I've been living in East Anglia for 21 years though and I've got used to the heat. I left Scotland when I graduated from University and I spent my infant school years in Paris, so I'm a bit of a mixture.

I really tried to imagine being somewhere cooler when I was in London packing for this trip. But after sweltering at around 30C for 2 months I just couldn’t really get my head round it. I also checked temperatures here (mid-high teens, okay) but didn’t factor in wind (fierce). Consequently I didn’t really pack enough cold weather clothes. I think dd is going to need more long-sleeved stuff. I am okay with one hoodie but she gets food on everything so we need a good amount of clothes for her. I’ve just been online and bought some long sleeved vests for DD for sleeping and tops for daytimes from Next. They’ll be here in a week 🙄. She’ll need autumn stuff anyway so it’s not a waste.,I just hope we don’t miss the delivery and have a drama over it.

I have tonnes of DVDs to get rid of but, like books, they seem to pay practically nothing for them. I’d almost rather give them away!

SnugglySnerd · 05/08/2018 01:59

I love the autumn too. Lovely colours, lots of fun for the dcs with crunchy leaves, conkers, Halloween and bonfire night. Cosy evenings and Christmas just around the corner. I also hate summer clothes and sun cream but love big chunky boots, scarves and jumpers plus I have an autumn birthday.
I even like the start of term for about the first 3 weeks before the marking piles up and the best behaviour phase wears off

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 05/08/2018 06:35

I'm usually a bit nervous of autumn as that's when the viruses usually get us, but this year summer is not really flying the flag for me in that department. Maybe autumn isn't so bad after all? Maybe I just need to knit big jumbers. Grin

I’m an autumn birthday.

I do love the summer though.

Can not believe it’s september next month. Ds was born in September last year. How has that happened?! I’ll soon have a 1 year old.

As much as I love the sun and the heat, this is almost finishing me off. I’m so sleepy. And essentially can’t be bothered to do anything. We’ve been on hot holidays before (Turkey a few years ago being my fave) and it was 36 degrees all day with a nighttime temp of 20. And it was just lovely. We napped by the pool. Read books. Didn’t move much. Swam. Etc.

I’m up with ds now. I used to sleep in on Sundays until at least 9. Now I’m lucky if I see 6...

ChristmasSeacow · 05/08/2018 08:05

Up with the sparrows (DC) here too. 5.45am Hmm. After squabbling all morning they are peacefully eating blueberry pancakes right now and you could hear a pin drop.

Autumn is also my favourite season for exactly the reasons Snuggly says! I do appreciate a sunny day but I’m not great at being hot. And don’t like getting my arms out either. Winter clothes are much better.

It’s raining here today and I don’t think it’s going to clear much so we’re hanging out at home this morning and then heading in to the throbbing metropolis of Kirkwall for a wander later. There’s an interesting shop selling Orkney crafts, yarn etc which also has a cafe with cakes, so I’m hoping I can persuade the others in with the promise of baked goods while I browse. So not an NSD. Also need some bits from Tesco that I forgot or didn’t realise - more bread, batteries, teabags and muesli for mum red wine etc. This morning I’m going to get some washing done. It’s piling up and I was fretting about how I was going to get it dry but there’s a dryer in our cottage! Probably a necessity in this climate.

Have a good Sunday everyone

ememem84 · 05/08/2018 08:14

I do love a winter outfit. I’m looking forward to digging out my boots and scarves and hats.

I need to buy a new coat - I have waterproof coat but need a smart coat for work.

I have made a list of things I need to buy for the new season:

  • coat
  • tights
  • black knee high boots
  • ugg boots - these are a maybe. I ditched my old pair back in April maybe. With the thought I’d get myself a new pair for my birthday. Although may rethink this.
WreckTangled · 05/08/2018 08:32

I will need (read want) new winter boots as I love them and wear them out quickly Grin

Another hot day again here dd has a birthday party to go to this afternoon and we're looking after my friends 2 year old as he's too young to be at a swimming party. Will take him and ds to the park and get an ice cream.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/08/2018 08:36

I'm not sure I have a favourite season. I hate the January February time until spring starts to break through.

Nothing frugal for me about the cold weather as very few of my clothes fit now.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/08/2018 08:38

We have the greatest showman movie and sound track seemingly on a loop here.

Sainsbury's today. Will be more than normal as both dc have friends staying tonight. Gets the pain out in a oner.

Wolfcub · 05/08/2018 08:40

Trying to work up the energy to get out of bed. Back to work tomorrow and my head has been full of work stuff since Friday night, it’s going to be a manic few weeks and I am not looking forward to it.
Might go for a picnic somewhere
