Now that I've put that in the title, we will almost certainly get snow. LOL!

Welcome to nearly-August.

Girlie definitely go! The dr can give you something for flying even if it's just propranolol.

Sea good luck with the drive Shock

I'm working today hopefully it's busier than yesterday! We've had rain overnight so it's much cooler what on earth am I going to wear?! I have no idea. What do the dc wear?! Do they even have any clothes suitable for rain?! It's been hot for so long I can't remember Grin

Loveabaconsandwich · 28/07/2018 07:09

DP only packed t shirts for himself. Fortunately I also packed his rain coat. I think we may have to purchase him a jumper later

Wow, amazing trip to be offered girlie. We went to New York before DC, it was meant to be our last holiday but DC took a while to arrive. We still talk about it now and I would love to go back ✈️🌃

Loveabaconsandwich · 28/07/2018 07:10

Good luck on the long drive today seacow

SnugglySnerd · 28/07/2018 07:25

It rained last night! It actually woke me up. Much fresher today.

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/07/2018 07:29

That's a fantastic offer from your dm girlie. New York is on my list.

Finally fell asleep about 1 am, woke up at 7. Got a repeat script to collect and will get some cystitis stuff.

ememem84 · 28/07/2018 07:56

girlie go to New York. I absolutely adore New York. It’s probably my fave city. It’s a short flight (5 hours?) and was manageable (this coming from someone who has flying anxiety). But go. Absolutely go. It’s been everything I’ve wanted and needed it to be every time I’ve been. And I’m longing to go back.

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 28/07/2018 07:57

Wreck I feel the same. It's much cooler here and I kind of can't remember what life was like before I started permanently wearing my badminton shorts. I'm glad it's cool though. Phew!

£30 riding today. It rained a lot overnight. So am hoping for a cooler day.

We’re going to have a look at a house this morning. Eeeep

WreckTangled · 28/07/2018 08:10

We went to New York in winter and it was amazing. You def have to go. I would like to go back in summer (but not the height of).

Unescorted · 28/07/2018 08:33

I have just been woken up by the rain..... falling on my face. I forgot to close the dorma windows last night. The garden will be pleased.
Lonely can I say a huge thanks to you sending all those seeds. I have only had to buy a bag of carrots, onions and spuds since the end of May. It is impossible to not eat 5a day and I bartered beans for beer last night with a time poor gardenless vegan friend. Happy days. For those who think they don't have enough room I have a small garden... I use Vege as foliage fillers between the flowers.

Last day of the tour.. except the roll into Paris. Which does not count as Sagan has the green jersey....assuming that he makes it through today. I will use the time to sort the washing and maybe sew a frock... I am getting bored of my summer wardrobe but am feeling skint.

I also need to dash to the library.... ummmm today's lazy day is getting busier by the waking thought.

QuiteCleanBandit · 28/07/2018 08:48

So much cooler here.
Rain glorious rain overnight and sunny but about 24 here now.
Feeling very drained (looong story) but pleased at how well I have handled a difficult issue .
Plans
Watch Saturday Kitchen and drink coffee.
If its Matt I tend to get bored and do houseworky bits Blush bed linen and some laundry.
Watch the Tour and knit my sock, drink tea.
Small chinese tonight -planned and in food budget .

Wrongwayup · 28/07/2018 09:13

Girlie another vote for new york. Went when married and richer! By coincidence off on holiday today. Week walking in Yorkshire. How times have changed.😁

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 28/07/2018 09:25

Was there somewhere else nice that you'd prefer to go for the same money GIrlie? I've been to New York and was not keen, but I've been to plenty of other places that were lovely. If you don't like flying then the Eurostar is a brilliant option.

CurlsandCurves · 28/07/2018 09:29

Girlie what a great opportunity! Another vote for NYC. Never been but my friend and her DH went for their anniversary a few years ago. 5 days and crammed so much in, they had an amazing time.

Life I feel for you, a long car journey with possible cystitis is not a pleasant thing. Get those sachets, loads of water and frequent stops.

It’s soooo lovely and cool here. Rained overnight and at about 5 am DH pulled the duvet over us as it was actually cold! I’ve got all the windows open, big French doors on the conservatory wide open and it’s bliss. First lot of bedding is being washed, we will all have lovely fresh sheets to sleep in tonight. Also going to get some housework done, the bathroom and our ensuite are particularly minging. But it’s just been too hot to clean them. DS1 put me to shame yesterday ‘mum, I want a bath, but do you have anything to clean it with? ‘ Blush

Can’t think of anything I need to spend money on, so unless the ice cream van comes round it’ll be a NSD.

Unescorted · 28/07/2018 09:35

Well the rain was short lived.

I am not a fan of NY.... I was the victim of an attempted mugging -foiled by not having any dollars as I had just spent my money on some bagels, and scammed at the bureau de change. On the same day. The first day..... Fortunately my friend had taken a picture of me at the money changing place so when they tried to make out I was the wrong place I showed them the photo and they refunded me.

Wild horses would not drag me back there.

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/07/2018 09:35

It's raining here and is forecast all day. Swimming and holiday shopping today.

Unescorted · 28/07/2018 09:41

We are forecast all day too but it is very sunny for rain.... maybe it is a temporary break. I never thought I would be wishing the sun away.

LonelyOversharer · 28/07/2018 09:55

unescorted you are more than welcome! And, um, you watch the tour!!! How did I not know this? We are complete addicts (ex bike shop, run a club and events so goes with the turf!). love Sagan as he's so naughty, very firmly Froomy fans here. We may well watch the tt live.

seacow if you are coming up the A1, get off at Team Valley Retail Park, it's the stop just after the Angel of the North, there is a huge Hobbycraft there. They won't have knitpro pins, but do carry pony circulars for an emergency! The traffic is always shitty just after this stretch, round the metro center, so a walk around first is a good idea! Wave as you pass the A69 junction (the traffic sorts itself out by then). Watch the billions of speed cameras heading north from there.

We lost power at 1030 last night, it came back on at 0303! I got up and switched all the lights out. It is now cooly raining. Bliss.

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/07/2018 10:35

Good tips from lonely there sea.

Got a Dr appointment at 12. Pharmacist thinks uti

ChristmasSeacow · 28/07/2018 11:10

Ah Lonely that would have been brilliant but we are going up the M6. I’ve just looked at the map and it’s clearly going to take us a VERY long time to drive through scotland as there are no big or direct roads north of Glasgow. Eek. Bet it’s beautiful though. Currently due to arrive at 5.30pm, without factoring in stops. It’s going to be a long day... and it was pretty difficult to get everything in the car this time too so it will be a bit more of a faff to unpack. I imagine the kids will be going to bed a bit late today!

I had a great time in NYC. I’ve had 2 longish trips (10 days +) and a flying visit. Once in the height of summer and once at thanksgiving. I’d avoid the height of summer but otherwise I had a brilliant time. The museums and galleries are wonderful and the food is amazing, if you can get some inside info on the good places to go.

Much fresher today but still not quite cardigan weather!

ChristmasSeacow · 28/07/2018 11:10

Satnav has just said ‘continue for the next 179 miles’. Glad DH is driving the boring bit!

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 28/07/2018 11:12

I hope you have a nice time with the views Christmas. I grew up in Scotland and did a lot of long hikes up around there. Once you get to the mountainy bits you often see 6' tall poles sticking up out of the ground at the sides of the roads. That's so that people still know where the roads are when they are all covered in snow. I always like that.

Which way are you going? I'd love to enjoy the view through your eyes if you have time for commentary.

See, I said you needed a Dr.

If you have a nationwide account you can get nationwide rewards, some are good, others not. You can also refer people to get accounts with them and get £75 each. You can do this multiple times.

I haven't seen a decent current account switch for ages.

LonelyOversharer · 28/07/2018 11:48

Hobbycraft just off Carlisle north junction! This is "my" one! Last junction before Scotland. At least there are fewer speed cameras on our side. The m6 through the lakes is pretty scenic.

LonelyOversharer · 28/07/2018 11:50

fluffy do you have a nationwide acount then? I am about to open one, so a referral thingy would be great.
