Now that I've put that in the title, we will almost certainly get snow. LOL!

Welcome to nearly-August.

Life try Keep Active NE CIC for summer childcare.

Wolfcub · 27/07/2018 18:14

Laska I have spice drawer envy and I thought mine was obsessively organise.

Em thanks for taking one for the team. When you said McDonald’s I could have murdered one. I’m living on a diet of fish, rice, booze and cake (it’s a hard life) and I usually hate McDonald’s but I could murder one

Ds is Full-Kevin this evening - shoot me shoot me now.

WreckTangled · 27/07/2018 18:16

Finally home from work. My feet hurt. Nsd and got our water bill which says they're reducing our dd by £5 pcm so that's good.

Wolfcub · 27/07/2018 18:26

Phew got to the end €28 photos of ds and I. I will use a few of these to replace family/couple photos I am taking down so that ds doesn’t notice/is less bothered

€6 for a decent cuppa and a lemonades

Thatsnotmybookworm · 27/07/2018 18:35

Thanks for the welcomes.
Updated spends £96 supermarket, including PJs for DS for next summer, I find Lidl PJs very good quality for the price.
Fab spice drawer @Laska5772; I buy the Tesco ones because they have the name on top.

Unescorted · 27/07/2018 18:36

sneaky there are loads. The best ones are on the A6 just by the Lidl in Longsight. I recommend the International Supermarket - it also has Carribbean, Middle Eastern and North African spices.. There is also another good one a bit further up past the posh sari shop. Alternatively Cheetham Hill Road has them dotted along. Which side of Manchester are you on.... There are also loads in Rochdale, Oldham Bury and Bolton.

LonelyOversharer · 27/07/2018 18:36

girlie be careful with naproxen. It did for dp's gallbladder. It messes with bile production, and makes things back up. Hence the tummy tablets. Hopefully you'll only be on them short term. Great for nerve pain though! He says nothing else comes close at the same dose. Not that he can ever take it again.

Great day at work, screen printing all morning, painting this afternoon.

Paid £150 off our tab at the garage, and £40 in tescos mostly dog food, diet coke, & branded toothpaste.

Home now, dp did a sort of meat platter for tea (snags, black pudding, meatballs, chips, beans and onion rings x lots) which made me sweat. I've no home-work to do this weekend, so I'm going to see how many tiny things I can knit to send to the craft shop in Cornwall.

Your day yesterday sounds just hideous em what a horrid job you have Grin

wolf drink wine. Lots of it! This pre teen bit is very hard (for us!) WineCake

WreckTangled · 27/07/2018 18:51

WreckCat is so happy it's raining he's lying on the back door step just watching it!

Cagliostro · 27/07/2018 19:11

Well it's official. I am never setting foot in my old house ever again! I did well up a teeny bit but mostly good riddance TBH!

Love the spice photo! My mum did similar with essential oils when I was young. I got to do the labeling :o

Lonely do you take commission on sewing stuff as well as knitting/crochet? I have an urge for some very specific cushions...

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/07/2018 19:54

Ah cag how lovely that you are leaving that bag party of your life behind.

Thanks wolf, my mam had stepped into the breach and I've said they can do Extra pony/ footy camp. It's only money sight.

£45 cinema and snacks. Hotel Transylvania 3 is good. £41 Aldi.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 27/07/2018 20:20

lonely I've not got a gallbladder! Typically it's feeling a bit better tonight anyway so I might leave it over the wend and see how it goes.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/07/2018 20:47

Bag party = bad part

QuiteCleanBandit · 27/07/2018 21:02

Naproxen is unlikely to cause issues when taken short term and GP has prescribed a PPI as per guidelines.
I have awful neck and a shoulder problem Girlie and Naproxen works really well but I only take it for a short time.
You can buy a short course for severe period pain over the counter.
Take after food .

Its raining !!!
Mmm smells lovely .

LonelyOversharer · 27/07/2018 21:22

Oh good girlie! But that means you've been through that awful pain.

Yes cag pretty much anything! So glad you are out of that old house. Onwards, upwards.

So far 3 bunnies and two dogs have been knitted. Listening to an audio book, and a thunderstorm.

LonelyOversharer · 27/07/2018 21:23

And the rain just started. Already the air is cooler, phew.

Cagliostro · 27/07/2018 21:49

We got caught in the rain coming back from the house, literally just as we shut the door it started. That was fun dragging a tool box, a bag of cleaning supplies and a vacuum cleaner back on the bus :o

Excellent lonely I shall message you when things have settled then.

Ugh gallbladder. I am so relieved to have only had the two attacks when Cagletini was a few weeks old, plus one more a couple of months back. 3 attacks means I can ask for removal apparently but TBH the buscopan worked quickly and is BF safe so unless they happen more frequently I see no reason to go through surgery.

We had movie night to celebrate the end of an era. So many good memories in that house of course but so much more excited about all the good ones that we can make here!

It's been utterly exhausting unpacking here and cleaning the old house at the same time. So we have declared Monday and Tuesday as official days off - DH will not be working, and we are not going to do any house stuff (except wait in for the gas man on the Monday) we are just going to enjoy being together in our new home. We might have an evening picnic at the park as it is so close to home!

My parents are visiting tomorrow, first time dad is seeing the house. We are meeting at the station in town, going to start buying some things off my huge "things we need for the house" list and take the opportunity of having extra hands to carry stuff :o

ChristmasSeacow · 27/07/2018 21:49

Just lost a long post but while I get over my sulk, this is a great article about why rain smells so lovely:

www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-44904298?ns_source=facebook&ns_mchannel=social&ns_linkname=english_regions&ns_campaign=bbc_london

No rain here though.

SneakyGremlins · 27/07/2018 22:09

No rain Sad

I'm using so many inhalers.

Thank heavens for my PPC.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 27/07/2018 22:22

No rain here either 😕 my poor garden is wilting 😟

Yes gallbladder pain is hands down the worst pain I've ever experienced, one attack actually caused an out of body experience 😨 horrific, I'm very happy not to have one any more!!

So my mum surprised me tonight by telling me she wants to take me to New York next year as a 40th bday treat from her and my dad 😮 am very shocked as was not expecting that!! I'm having a bit of a think as flying is an issue for me, it makes me feel very anxious just thinking about it. That said who turns down a trip to New York? !! Would have to decided whether to take dd or not as well....

Bornlazy · 27/07/2018 22:36

We just had a thunderstorm. I tried to take a picture... it lit up the garden like it was daylight.

The Friendly Frugaleers: Saving and chatting as the heatwave rolls on.
ChristmasSeacow · 27/07/2018 23:02

Ooh Girlie how wonderful! If you can go for it you’ll have the best time.

Cag even crap houses are homes and you’ve had lots of years there with your lovely family. Must be weird to leave. Onwards and upwards. I must admit to being curious about your special cushion requirements though Grin

I can’t remember what I wrote before. Something about spices. Never mind. Nice drawer Lasa, if I had enough cupboard / drawer space I’d love to do that. I buy the big bags of my highest volume spices but jars of the others are okay and most that live ‘out’ are the high turnover ones. The asafoetida lives in the cupboard Grin. In this house the dried herbs are my husband’s and older than our relationship - when he’s feeling creative he pimps up his Heinz tomato soup and calls it ‘cooking’ 🙄. I’m not a fan of dried herbs at all.

We’ve had a good day at the Standedge tunnel - really interesting and a beyootiful wall along the canal tow path too, see pic. DS loved the boat ride into the tunnel, to the extent that he refused to get off the boat at the end and had a meltdown. Rather Blush. We were with our local friends, they bore it stoically. Only spent about £20 on the boat trip and Ice creams, then DH bought milk and wine in coop, dunno how much.

Thanks for all the ideas Wolf, sadly we are off to Scotland tomorrow but will defo come back for longer next time. It’s been great. And sorry to hear about Kevin, hope you are still enjoying your holiday anyway.

I am a little annoyed - I brought some new yarn with me to start my holiday knitting project (a cable knit jumper dress for dd) only to realise that my interchangeable circular needles set doesnt go down to 3.25mm. So I ordered some needles from amazon and they were delivered today to a holiday-home neighbour... who has been out all day and evening! So at this rate we’ll have to leave before I can retrieve them. £5.25 and a couple more days wasted as I’ll need to reorder. I’m more annoyed about the lost days tbh!

7 hour drive tomorrow, without stops. I am not excited.

The Friendly Frugaleers: Saving and chatting as the heatwave rolls on.
lifelongfrugaleer · 27/07/2018 23:53

Cant sleep. I'm in a right chew with myself.
Not sure if I'm getting a UTI or cystitis must to the fluids tomorrow. Ugh.

7 hour drive with no breaks is not fun. Take care driving.

ChristmasSeacow · 28/07/2018 00:00

Oh no Life, we’ll take breaks. That’s just the driving time. Hoping to leave here by 9, realistically 10am, and get there for 7pm. Phew.

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/07/2018 00:09

That's good sea. Especially as it's forecast rain. Wave as you pass on the A1

ChristmasSeacow · 28/07/2018 06:54

My thoughts are turning to cardigans this morning Shock
