I got paid interest on a current account for the first time in about 11 years. Wooo frugaleering rocks. That’s £2 free to go in my holiday money pot 👛

Lillylollylandy · 01/06/2018 08:31

Thinking of you and your mum today, Seacow.

Em poor wee DS. Hope he gets better soon.

Exciting times Cag! When will you find out?

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 01/06/2018 08:50

Thinking of you sea 🌻

How exciting cag fingers crossed for you.

unescorted I honestly don't think shouting at colleagues is okay whatever the issues may or may not be, you need to speak to his manager.

em hope ds is okay, croup can be really nasty so hope it's not that. Your dh can surely see what a nightmare his mother is?!

I'm still in bed, last day of my annual leave today 😞 plan is to go for a little run and then go to town as still got a few jobs to do.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 01/06/2018 08:55

cag fingers crossed it's the same family, how exciting for you all!!

wolf excellent news on the interest
fluffy as always you're a brilliant frugaleer

wreck how was your spa experience? I've got a €100 voucher for a spa near here, H bought it for me for Christmas, I'm holding it for after the mediation happens and going to use it when he has the dc for a full day without my input/presence

unescorted you definitely didn't miss me buying a house. I've found one I want to buy but need to be out of my current mortgage before I even think about it. I hoped my parents would help with deposit, but when I spoke to dm last night, she said I think you should rent for a while after ye split just to get dc used to things, I don't see how that helps as it's moving twice for them then but I didn't discuss this with her over the phone. She's been offering me money interest free for years to do our driveway so I was hoping that was still available for me now. Df wanted to pay for our wedding and we didn't accept so I'm hoping that they'll help me get over the hump of a deposit for new home. Renting would mean that the chance of saving money towards a deposit would be pretty negligible.

Going to spend €4.99 on a set of weights worth €54.99 this evening, remainder is coming from my shopandscan points Grin
Argos doing €10 voucher on €50 spend so I might get a €10 gift card also!

mammynowanauntyIRL · 01/06/2018 08:56

Sorry €5 on €50 spend

ChristmasSeacow · 01/06/2018 08:56

Thanks people. I’m wearing my nice LK Bennett flats Wink

I feel a bit numb about today. I think in a way my granny’s death has been a bit overshadowed by the loss of my dad. I feel awful saying it but I don’t think I’ve thought about it as much as I would have done with different timing. So a lot might come out today. I put a bit of waterproof mascara on Hope it holds.

Cag that’s very exciting about the house bidding. Even if not this time it sounds as though you are very close Shock

Bornlazy · 01/06/2018 09:18

Thinking of you today seacow hope your back isn’t too sore no matter what shoes you decide to wear.

Exciting news Cag it must be very difficult for you living with so little space.

We are stuck in a situation with our house where we would love to extend or do a loft conversation, but can’t bear the upheaval. As a result of this we have been putting off doing anything as it hasn’t seemed worth it if we’re going to have to change it soon. I think that we are going to have to spend some money doing a bit of cosmetic work now, even though it might be a waste as it is totally depressing living in a house that is falling into a state of disrepair 😩

WreckTangled · 01/06/2018 09:46

Wow cag that's so exciting!

Sea hope today goes ok for you Thanks

Em how much longer is she there for? She really is a piece of work, I don't understand why your dh thought it was a good idea to book the meal. Mine have had croupy coughs before it's horrible.

Mammy spa was awesome. It's the nicest hotel I've ever been in. Even better that they forgot to charge us for our treatments and champagne BlushGrin

SnugglySnerd · 01/06/2018 09:53

Sea that's literally the nicest thing anyone has said to me all week. Thank you. I hope today goes well, will be thinking about you.

Exciting Cag! Good luck!

SnugglySnerd · 01/06/2018 10:20

Incidentally I asked DD1 what she would like to do today and she wants to go to the library! That's easy then and no picnic required!

mammynowanauntyIRL · 01/06/2018 10:36

wreck what did they charge ye for so just food? GrinGrinGrin

QuiteCleanBandit · 01/06/2018 10:56

Snuggly
Im a huge fan of DC having unscheduled time/holidays just to mooch and potter about.
My favorite was a friend (SAHM) who asked me what my DC were doing in the summer hols.
To her horror I replied that I didnt know yet😂
Her DC were going on a big day out each week plus everyday was full of activities scheduled for the whole 6 weeks .
We generally did one day out (zoo/theme park etc ) plus lots of beach, walks, library, park ,friends ,books as and when we felt like it .

QuiteCleanBandit · 01/06/2018 10:57

Thinking of you today SeaFlowers

CremeEggThief · 01/06/2018 10:58

Great result there, Wreck.Grin

Exciting news, Cag. Fingers crossed for you.

Em, sounds as if both you and DS could do with a day or two in bed. Take care.

Just on my way to meet a pal for coffee and cake and might have a browse around the shops after. SO much more fun than wallpaper stripping!Smile

WreckTangled · 01/06/2018 11:14

Well the package included £35pp towards dinner and breakfast so so we just had to pay a bit for food and the wine, was about £44 but my friend paid. The treatments and champagne in private hot tub would have been £165 all together. The food was amazing too.

We're home, but I've got miles behind on the thread. Hope it's going well there.

SnugglySnerd · 01/06/2018 11:52

That looks and sounds lovely Wreck.

Ds just had his first tantrum. Poor thing obviously wants something in the kitchen but I can't work out what and obviously he can't tell me. He's cried and cried with frustration.

Vixnixtrix1981 · 01/06/2018 11:54

The May thread inspired me.
So I am joining you in June. Hope you don't mind?

First win for me is declining an invite to eat tea at a local pub. I would normally say yes, sod it, but as I've meal planned for the whole month I'm sticking to my guns.

ememem84 · 01/06/2018 12:56

Catching up. Sort of.

cag eeeeeeeek!!!! How exciting. Fingers crossed for you xxx

I see why dh booked the dinner. We haven’t had time on our own for so long. And it would be a lovely treat.

And in my “be nice to mil and give her the benefit of the doubt” mood I can see it’s a nice gesture. And I am grateful she suggested it. However. I can’t do it.

I’ve spoken to dh about it. It’s not about mil this time (much) it’s me. I don’t want to leave ds with anyone at present. I’m even struggling with Nursery. I don’t want to leave him there. I don’t want to be back at work. That’s the crux. I need to be (mentally and financially). But I don’t want to be. I will get used to it. But right now nope nope nope.

I’ve made an appointment with my gp to chat things through and see if they can recommend anything/one who can help. But that’s not until next Wednesday.

In other news...£48 at passport office. Ds’ passport application is underway! Woooooooo

Laska5772 · 01/06/2018 12:57

cag can you call them? I dont know if I could stop myself if I was in your situation.. really hoping it all turns out well for you..

Boo the hotel have emailed saying they forgot to bill us and will charge my card. Thought that might happen!

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/06/2018 13:02

Oh well done Vix Grin everyone's taking afternoon tea like their a dowager duchess these days.

£9 Morrisons. Cat food, lettuce, tomato and cucumber. I took £50 cashback then paid it into the bank. I might get extra cashback, might not.

There's a new customer offer on topcashback, £15 cashback on superdrug. I always buy superdrug sunblock cos it's not tested on animals 🐶

I hope your ok Sea, you've had an awful lot to cope with this year.

SnugglySnerd · 01/06/2018 13:05

Welcome Vix and well done. I can never refuse an invite!

Laska5772 · 01/06/2018 13:08

oh sea is it your grans funeral today ? sorry I seem to have missed this.
Flowers hope you are ok

Thank you everyone ... it took a lot to decline!

Fluffy I am constantly checking Groupon for Afternoon Tea deals in the Summer holidays. My DS wants to go to the bar in the Hilton (Manchester) as we see it all the time but never been in. Won't take him without a deal though, and the only deals at the moment is cocktails and nibbles :(
