ememem84 · 17/03/2018 18:59

WIll do!

We’ve had pizza and am currently enjoying a glass (or two) of Pinot noir. Mmm.

LonelyOversharer · 17/03/2018 19:21

Dog pants!! Thats so funny. and slightly hideous I had a great dane and she had 2 periods before I could get her spayed. Those pants would have been a god send actually. I was wiping up spots of blood for weeks And she had a phontom pregnancy and became quite obsessive over dd1's bath toys.

cag were these family members? So odd to dictate which food they would eat, let you get it in, then decide to "help you out" by bringing their own. Cross for you. Rest up when you can.

Snowing hard here. It's settling, but is so windy too.

Sausages, mash, veg, yorkies for tea. 6 eggs used. I use equal volumes (Marco Pierre White said to do this) of flour, milk and eggs, so it uses up lots of eggs. Getting about 8 a day here just now. Love my lovely hens. Paired up 148 pairs of socks. And as many odd ones left over. I need to sweep under the kids beds to find their other halves.

Wolfcub · 17/03/2018 20:23

148 pairs of socks!!! I think I’d cry. I don’t wear socks so I refuse to pair the bloody things

mammymammyIRL · 17/03/2018 20:28

Record here was 99 pairs of socks, found in bag under dss's bed 12 months after we moved, unwashed Angry

ememem84 · 17/03/2018 20:51

THAT is a lot of socks.

Cagliostro · 17/03/2018 21:06

That’s great em please report back, I haven’t bought any yet, I am totally happy to use them (not squeamish about that at all) but haven’t got round to it. My friend recommended me various brands. I still have slim maternity pads to use up let alone some bodyform. No idea what my periods are doing though, spotting but with epic PMT and cramps, WTF? Stupid hormones.

I have no clue how many socks we have as we pair them as soon as they’re dry. Any odd socks get put back in the washing basket rather than having an odd sock bag.

Thanks for the thoughts re relatives. I feel better now, they just really stress me out with constant changing plans like that. It’s good to read that it’s rude actually, as I never quite know if I’m overreacting due to my own struggles (I mean, I know I WAS overreacting to be that upset at the time, but it’s good to know that you/DH/mum friends also think it was unfair to switch plans). This kind of thing happens a lot and I’m going to have to get used to it I suppose as they are moving nearer soon. I still did the dinner, it was really nice. Worn out though.

I’ll ask at the restaurant (Caglets chose Bella Italia) before the film if they’ll take the voucher code, if not then we can go somewhere else and save the vouchers for another time.

Think we will try clafoutis soon, Yorkie batter is one of the few things that work really well with gluten free flour, without adjusting the recipe. This one looks simple enough for me :o

The joys of a big family. Here are just the left overs! Arranged by owner. Ds and dd3 have the most sad singles. For too long I have overbought "stuff" and this illustrates my (hopefully slowing) problem!

mammymammyIRL · 17/03/2018 21:15

Cag Could you mail/call the restaurant today so that you've a plan in place?

That was incredibly rude of your visitors, perhaps they thought they were helping by not expecting you to feed them but if that was the case, they should have said it immediately, not as an afterthought!

DD's birthday presents purchased, she was on a play date, h is in reasonable form, best time to do it. Approx €70 incl delivery. Used my cc, I'll get cash rewards on it! It will be repaid from joint account before interest is applied.

Em I was all set to get a mooncup for after ds's arrival but my period never came back. Sanitary protection is now 5 years old Confused

mammymammyIRL · 17/03/2018 21:18

Lonely we've eliminated this problem by having max 10 pairs of socks per person.
But easier here as dc always growing so in with two new packs & out with remaining old socks.
Laundry will be much easier when it's just mine & dc won't it?

Wolfcub · 17/03/2018 21:18

I had a moon cup great idea in principle and good for heavy flow but very uncomfortable I found and impractical for work where sinks are outside cubicles. Not an issue any more due to mini-pill

ememem84 · 17/03/2018 22:33

I’m not sure I like mooncup. Bigger ick than resueable pads in my opinion. Because well everything is there but we’ll see. From a money saving and eco perspective great. Just need to get out of my head a bit and give it a think. Baby steps.

SnugglySnerd · 18/03/2018 06:47

Yes please report back Emas I'm considering them too. I am also put off moon cups by having to rinse out at work or other public places.

I match socks when hanging them up to dry. All the baby socks go in a mesh bag as they are so small and get lost easily. I expect it's harder with older kids though who stuff them under beds, in PE kits etc.

Woken up to a couple of inches of snow and it's still falling heavily. We have a lot planned today. This is not good.

WreckTangled · 18/03/2018 06:58

We've have some snow but not loads. I'm going to make a roast today and maybe some soup.

Loveabaconsandwich · 18/03/2018 07:14

We’ve woken to a couple of cm of snow this morning and still snowing. No doubt it will grind to a complete halt here again. We explained to the DDs yesterday that we don’t normally get much snow like a couple of weeks ago, but here we go again ⛄️

Should be a NSD. Spent £60 yesterday on our Wimbledon tickets. Train fares will be £118, but will look out for cash back with the trainline on my current account in the next few months.

Take care out there today frugaleers

😱 at lonely amount of socks

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/03/2018 07:15

We have thick snow. Bugger.

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/03/2018 07:45

There are a couple of cm here if that and it's still snowing.
Swimming and Sainsbury's today

QuiteCleanBandit · 18/03/2018 07:51

A fair amount of snow here .
Hens not fussed -very hungry but perky .
Dcat has raced up and down the garden Grin
Wolf no socks ??Shock
Eeeep Im wearing lovely Aldi wool ones which are toasty .
Hope its not too early for this -I really didnt find my mooncup much bother and if its full and no sink in the cubicle you just empty and wipe with tissue until the next time.
Bear in mind that it stays in much longer so very convenient and no having to carry stuff around.
I did have a slightly larger Diva cup but Dcat stole it ,before I had even used it ,from my bedroom and apparently chased it up and downstairs -made holes in it Grin

ememem84 · 18/03/2018 08:17

I counted my socks. I have 15 pairs. I wear them when I ride and gym. And in the winter. From around April - October I’m bare feet (or shoes no socks unless I wear boots).

Today should be nsd.

WreckTangled · 18/03/2018 08:17

Fluffy hope you don't mind but should I treat this or leave it? (Sorry for gross verruca photo everyone) we've left it for a while because it was affecting the healthy skin around it but she's finding it painful

QuiteCleanBandit · 18/03/2018 08:22

Im a barefeet gal in the summer but in the winter I double up due to reynauds.
Im not counting Blush rough estimate 30-40 pairs.
Gym socklet
things, black, patterned, thermal, wool, long, Blush over the knee, boot socks and hand knitted .

QuiteCleanBandit · 18/03/2018 08:23

Oh and bed socks Grin
They have to be soft and grey

LonelyOversharer · 18/03/2018 08:24

We have about an inch of snow, but very swirled around by the wind. Still snowing too. I just evicted the cat onto the step. He tried to change his mind half way out. The dogs did a barmy dash round the garden - they can wait for their walk!

Nothing on today. I have work to finish for tomorrow, and am thinking of trying sweet potato waffles or hash brown waffles to go with homemade kfc tonight. This will take me some time on pintrest...

We have copious quantities of everything. Socks are just one of my ongoing nightmare battles. All clean socks go into a storage box, which I sort and pair when we run out in our draws. But there are always many left overs. Last time I raided the dc's rooms I filled the washing machine with just odd socks.

northender · 18/03/2018 08:29

Light dusting of snow here, we're up north but never get much.
unescorted love your dd's frugal prom purchases
I use a mooncup and would never go back to anything else. It takes a bit of getting used to, but once you've mastered the technique for inserting & removing it then you really wouldn't know it was there.

Spent yesterday having a sort out day including finances and meal planning & today will be more of the same. I love to have a plan!
Went to a concert with dh last night. It was a folk duo we love & was brilliant. Total spends was probably about £50 including tickets and the £7 car parking we were stung for. I will only whisper quietly the £10 we then spent on a pizza and chicken kebabBlush
