Thanks for the recipes peoples. So Lonely do you just directly substitute vitality for butter in any recipe or do you use a particular recipe?

I am sure I’ve made lots of cakes with oil rather than butter, not specifically aiming to be vegan but.... I just can’t remember what! I will check out these ideas thanks.

The friend concerned has shingles and so is feeling very sorry for herself. Cake definitely required.

LonelyOversharer · 05/03/2018 19:00

Just normal seacow weight of 3 eggs (or more!) of vitalite, sugar, self raising flour, splosh of vanilla. Done.

mammymammyIRL · 05/03/2018 19:04

Wreck I've got a part faux leather jacket, part of the sleeves are knitted fabric, which is bobbling it's too tight for me at the moment Blush
It's frugal enough if I only pay €82.75 for something with retail price for €250 isn't it WinkHmm

In other frugal news my electricity bill is going to be really reduced next time, two days of planned interruptions to service this week Grin

MeadowHay · 05/03/2018 19:30

Wreck Mammy I've got a faux leather jacket that I wear loads and have had for a few years and always get loads of compliments on. It was like £25 or something when Bank was closing down a few years ago I think. I love it loads.

Seacow I've seen some Jack Monroe baking recipes where she says to make things vegan/dairy free to just use a dairy-free spread instead of the butter, Vitalite or whatever. I made cookies using Vitalite the other day instead of butter and they were just as nice. I've made cookies using oil instead of butter which DH says are his favourite ever cookies lol.

I am really stressed atm cos I applied for a promotion at work and then got told at the end of last week I wasn't actually allowed to apply for it so my application got withdrawn and I had to start a horrid dispute with HR etc and it is on-going even though I've been told I can apply for the job now etc...I wish I had never applied now as I'm convinced they're just blocking me cos they want to recruit externally and it's all just been a huge stress. I cba to go into details but they've been really dodgy about it all and in one aspect are breaching the terms of my employment contract. If I don't get it I will be definitely looking for a different job while on mat leave rather than return there but I guess the likelihood of anyone wanting to employ me on mat leave is slim especially as I would rather not return to work 5 days a week I think. Grrr so annoyed about it all.

Spends today £1.60 on a little pot of salad and a cupcake at work in the canteen as part of my lunch. I am eating soo much atm, DH is shocked Grin. I am worried about putting on too much weight though. Idk how much weight gain is healthy during pregnancy?

mammymammyIRL · 05/03/2018 19:39

Watching** My life without a home on cbbc with dc, such positive children despite their circumstances

ememem84 · 05/03/2018 19:54

meadow I put on 2 and half stone. But lost it pretty quickly. It was all baby and bump.

Feeling sorry for myself as I feel lousy again. I have a really sore gland in my neck like a golf ball and you can see there’s fluid sitting round my face all puffy and awful. Plus one side of my nose is sore and puffy so it looks all deformed I have a really important meeting tomorrow with someone very intimidating and I look like bloody Quasimodo

WreckTangled · 05/03/2018 20:14

Not mumps wolf is it?! I feel ill too. Serves me right for having a wrap with dinner they always make me feel sick and bloated.

needastrongone · 05/03/2018 20:16

Audit, I'm am so terribly sorry for your loss, what a dreadful loss for you and your family. My thoughts are with you. Xx

Loved the wardrobe girlie, really clever stuff there.

Love the little gnome dolls lonely.

Stork is vegan anyway but it's really easy to veganise anything these days, there's a vegan alternative for everything really. We had a big enchilada bake for tea with a pile of veggies and pulses in it and vegan cheese on top.

NSD today.

needastrongone · 05/03/2018 20:19

I hope your okay wolf, I actually did have mumps as a kid and it was god awful.

meadow 20lbs with each of mine, nearly 9lb of which was DS the first time round. Came off quickly. Everyone is so incredibly different. Sorry about the crap job situation.

Wolfcub · 05/03/2018 20:21

I had mumps on my first birthday I don’t think it’s possible to have it twice...is it. I’m sure it’s the hangover from the stupid virus everyone’s had, I feel like I’m in month four of it

LonelyOversharer · 05/03/2018 20:34

meadow step away from the scales! Just go with it. Think of all those months when your body rejected calories full stop, eat whatever you fancy now. Growing a human being is very hard work, it uses an awful lot of energy.

And unless you get the mythical magic baby who sleeps all the time, odds on you'll be spending a lot of time walking with a pram (silently begging then to close their eyes) anyway!

Cagliostro · 05/03/2018 20:35

I think I may be succumbing to the virus, felt really sick and headachy today.

I actually lost weight during this pregnancy, over a stone I think, but I was huge to begin with 😳 so not a big deal! I have to say though, while I’ve been weighed at booking in appt with all three, nobody has ever checked or asked during the pregnancies at all.

We watched that programme too mammy DD said wow I feel really lucky. It was good to have a conversation about how even though our situation is far from ideal we are luckier than many.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/03/2018 20:41

Ah little toosie pegs.
Nice jacket mammy. Have you made your mind up then what you are doing? Don't answer here if your don't want to.
That sounds shit re job, you are employable from maternity leave.
YY to just use same vitalie as you would stork.
I put about 2 stone on each time but had large babies too.
Hope you feel better soon wolf.

I have an interview for promotion next week..eek.
Only planned spends today. Been pricing up cars though.

Cagliostro · 05/03/2018 20:44

Yes your body is probably like holy crap I can actually eat at last and is making up for lost time. Breastfeeding burns lots of calories too :o

Aww at toothypegs (as DH calls them for some unknown reason). I’ve seen white patches near the surface but nothing poking through yet! She’s definitely... making her personality known. Hmm :o She’s so wriggly and keeps kicking herself off my lap!

I had to google eternal beau. Before my time clearly :o

Now the question is, can you make fairy free fairy cakes? 🤔

Laska5772 · 05/03/2018 21:05

Does anyone know if Leeds is till snowed in? (serious question) only according to the post Office a parcel I am waiting for arrived at Leeds sorting office on march 1st . but is still there! it was supposed to be 24hr delivery and I of course understand why it wasnt but I'd have thought it would have moved at least a bit my way by now.. I dont want to blow up the company yet if IABU

we had torrential rain this evening... drove home through a typhoon it seemed

Wolfcub · 05/03/2018 21:06

Laksa no all the snow has gone today

Laska5772 · 05/03/2018 21:18

thanks Wolf, Ill give it one more day and then ill call if it hasn't shown as having moved at all...

mammymammyIRL · 05/03/2018 21:22

Meadow a pound a month for first four months and a pound a week thereafter, you probably lost loads when you'd hypermesis anyhow. Baby is possibly going through a growth spurt at the moment and causing you to be extra hungry

Free gift with online shopping as they're missing loads due to the weather conditions and being behind on receiving their own deliveries. Most of what I'm missing wasn't essential anyhow but au pair asked for asparagus and fine green beans and neither came Shock she only requested 3 items ! Dc shared a cupcake & au pair can have the other one.
I'm 100% back on track with my macros so I won't be eating one & dh doesn't deserve it,

Life told him fri evening, he's in denial atm

Just googled eternal beau. That’s daunt and duncles dinnerset!!!!

Ah cag is she doing the hip thrust off the lap? Ds does that. It’s funny. And bloody annoying. He will not keep still! New tricks are almost rolling over (he is so close!!), legs up and slamming them on the floor, and grabbing feet.

He cackled like anything when Dh came home from work today. He had him sat on his shoulders. Ds thought this was particularly funny. He has a wicked laugh.

I only noticed teefs today it explains his increase in poop nappies. And sore looking bum. (Ps I can spell honest - but that’s how we spells teef drives Dm mad. As does my probounciation of moth. moff).

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 05/03/2018 21:35

Well done for telling him mammy

Hmm fairy free fairy cakes....

I put on about half a stone when pregnant but was on a strict low fat diet for most of it thanks to gallstones! !

As you have all been so impressed with the wardrobe I will show off the drawers as well 😁

Cagliostro · 05/03/2018 22:13

Exactly that em and arching her back suddenly while flinging her arms out as if to say look at meeeee I can move. Little show offs, babies.

Made a tenner today, as I posted something on FB that I have in duplicate, don’t often find anything in the house worth selling. But all helps.

We have no water! I found out they are shutting it off (repairs needed due to weather) about 20 minutes before they did so, via Facebook. Some people got texts but not us. Was just lucky I saw it (having just got home) to put some in the bath. Glamorous life here 🙄😂

CremeEggThief · 05/03/2018 22:34

Quick post to update spends. £6.50 travel; £2.87 Tesco (finally found some bread!); £7.35 lunch out; £3.10 Costa and 95p chewing gum. Total: £20.77, I think.

Grin @ fairy free cupcakes!

QuiteCleanBandit · 05/03/2018 22:39

em
We must be related Grin
Teef/moff/bicuit ?
Bicuit is said with no S as a question to Dcat
Bicuit ?
We also have cat voices.
DD has hissed cat voice! CAT voice! at me many times in shops etc .Grin
Awww eternal beau-my auntie had that.

ChristmasSeacow · 05/03/2018 23:55

I see that most people are only one or two steps removed from a set of Eternal Beau Grin. Maybe I should start a thread on it? Grin

Been out knitting in the pub (monthly thing here - a local knitting fb group meet up, very casual but nice chat). About £5 on a small glass of wine Hmm. And 70p on a choc bar on the way 🐷. No other spends today but we are a bit desperate for bread, milk and a few other bits so will need to go to a shop
tomorrow. Having a coffee with a friend but think she’ll probably come here as I still have lemon drizzle cake on offer.

It’s DH’s birthday in about 10 days and I am v stuck for ideas. Eek.

Mammy have you really pulled the plug then? How do you feel and how are things at home?
