It is quiet here this morning. audit I am so sad and sorry about your mum Flowers. I'm thinking of you

I buckled in yesterday and got all my work done to hand back first thing. And knitted like fury. I also contacted the truly lovely lady who owns the craft shop I sell to sometimes. She'll take anything I fancy making (we have standard things that always sell), which is excellent. I'll tag on the photo of my inch high dolly/gnome things.

I'm not checking my bank account until tomorrow, tax credit day, as I'm a complete wimp, but if the maintenance money isn't in (it wasn't yesterday) I'm calling the csm and making a claim. I know they won't be able to get anything from him (he's expat), but if they contact his uk head office, it might shame him into it (HR will not know he has 3 other dc, and his wife used to work there, small company, so they will all know him). However just typing this is making me tremble with anxiety and adrenaline.

I only need brocolli and milk later on.

The snow is melting at last, the sun is even out. There is still a bit of road where only one car can pass at a time with 6' snow drifts on either side.

Just re-emerging from the snow...

That was a very busy week. So much sledging.

Audit so sorry to hear about your Mum. Flowers

ChristmasSeacow · 05/03/2018 11:46

Sounds very stressful Lonely Flowers. Love the little dollies, btw.

Whether this Friday it next Em it will come round quickly so may as well be full steam ahead! Have you been in your flat for long and will you miss it?

I bought some bits for dd from M&S yesterday thanks to some enabling from Love Wink. Was about £45 but don’t yet know whether I’ll keep it all. Bought 2 coats for dd, different sizes but sometimes they overlap so we’ll see. I also need a few more boring bits like cardigans so will probably check out Next. DS still needs new shoes as the ones I wanted to get were out of stock so I’m going to pop into Clark’s this week and get something (though the nearer to his old shoes the better due to ASD). I got him new wellies last week but he still needs school and casual shoes. That’s always £££. I also need to go to Ikea because DH got the wrong size of Trofast drawers. So this week will not be cheap. There’s also not much food in the house as I only shopped for the weekend party last week because of fridge space. So I’ll need to do a more generous top-up shop than usual. Sigh.

MIL has just rung to offer me her elderly aunt’s dinner service, which she was left in her will. She already has an enormous collection of dishes so wants me to have it. I have no idea what it looks like and have nowhere to store it other than the loft until I get DH to agree to enlarge the kitchen but looks as though something might be arriving in due course (unless SIL wants it - I told MIL to check with her first but I’d be surprised). Dinner service lottery - will it be beautiful or hideous?!

WreckTangled · 05/03/2018 12:15

I'm going for hideous, sea Grin

Moanranger · 05/03/2018 12:21

LO love your crafts!
Seacow re dinner service - there is quite a good market for Old/ antique dinner services (My own daily set was discontinued, so even it is valuable). Have a look on line, “ China search” or similar, once you get it. Ugly or not, it may be worth something.
Don’t get me started on cost of children’s shoes! And you cannot cut corners as risk harming their feet Angry
NSD, I hope. Tomorrow spendier , but much of the rest of the week work related travel, so should be saving. I am definitely now thinking about spending, and reducing the frivolous stuff.

ChristmasSeacow · 05/03/2018 12:39

Cheers Wreck Grin

I’ll have to smile and keep it for the duration of MIL’s life, whether I like it or not! My hopes are not high. Think they married in the 1950s, it was their wedding gift.

ememem84 · 05/03/2018 12:58

seacow coming up to 8 years in the flat. I don’t want to sell really but want a house so sort of have to sell.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/03/2018 15:16

Sea Sell it if it’s valuable & spend it on the kids. No one argue if the kids benefit.

I wish I’d kept dhs mad ex partners eternal beau collection she left behind, it’s worth a fair bit on eBay.

£10 petrol.

Huge Gammon joint squished into the slow cooker. The Sc is only 3.5ltr.

ChristmasSeacow · 05/03/2018 16:15

Wow, I grew up with eternal beau crockery (like millions of others!)

Fluffy and others, can you please direct me to any tried and tested dairy free cake recipes? I have a friend who has to be dairy free while breastfeeding and she is really missing her treats... she can have eggs but not milk etc. Cheers!

ChristmasSeacow · 05/03/2018 16:20

You made me look it up on eBay Fluffy and now I am trying to resist the eternal beau cake stand as a reminder of my 80s youth! No room for it though SadGrin

WreckTangled · 05/03/2018 16:54

Seacow I would just use a fairy free butter or recipe with oil instead

Laska5772 · 05/03/2018 17:08

Oh cruelty alert wreck.. a little elf and safety?

mammymammyIRL · 05/03/2018 17:09

Ah guys I just looked up eternal beau, they're still my mother's good plates!!

I've a link to a dairy free cake on facebook, not tested it though think it's by tasty, I'll copy and paste it here from my phone later seacow

SuperValu rang me, they won't get all my order out today as they're behind in their deliveries to the store. I said if it wasn't more than half the order not to bother with it because there'll be lots of substitutions but she assured me she had a decent amount in the trolley. I'll see when it arrives.

Only planned expenditure today - dd's bus money in cash and fuel card direct debit out of account.

Just ordered this in two sizes Leather Jacket embossed
It's €137.75 - dm gave me €40, I've got €15 off a €50 spend also and I can buy it on buy now pay 6 months later.

It could be my 'newly single me' jacket, I know this is money that should be going against my credit card but I've not got any jacket other than ones for walking/going to work ie very very casual.

LonelyOversharer · 05/03/2018 17:11

Yes, I always make a dairy free sponge for the races, just in case. I use vitalite, it comes out much like a cake made with stork does (so fluffier but less tasty than one made with butter).

£5 in the co-op, but so far have done £12 of knitting, so technically up (making pigs today).

You might be surprised seacow retro 50's china is a bit in, or will it be twee? A pic will be required!

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/03/2018 17:11

Google tesco vegan sponge. You’ll have most ingredients already in except soya.

mammymammyIRL · 05/03/2018 17:12

seacow Courgette Choc Chip Muffins dd made these yesterday she weighed some of the ingredients and ate some chocolate which happened to be dairy free chocolate and they're lovely moist muffins and no one that ate them knew there were courgettes inside

LonelyOversharer · 05/03/2018 17:16

mammy that link just told me you purchased it 12 minutes ago Grin ok, it didn't say 'mammy' it just said last purchased...

I do like biker jackets. I don't think I have ever owned one though never cool enough

ememem84 · 05/03/2018 17:28

Ds has teefs. Two teefs poking through. Not massively. But they’re there.

OP posts:
mammymammyIRL · 05/03/2018 17:31

lonely that's brilliant. Do you like it? I wonder am I cool enough?

ememem84 · 05/03/2018 17:35

mammy I love the jacket. Biker doesn’t suit me. Too booby. Which is sad as I love them.

OP posts:
mammymammyIRL · 05/03/2018 17:38

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 05/03/2018 17:52

Fairy free butter 😂 poor fairies! !

Most of the snow has melted here today so it was back to normal life, was hearing some of the stories from work colleagues who worked when the snow came down 😲 one poor girl had to spend the night at a local community hospital!!

Nsd.

WreckTangled · 05/03/2018 17:54

Grin I always make sure my baking is fairy free poor tinks doesn't belong in a cake

WreckTangled · 05/03/2018 17:57

Mammy love the jacket. I have a faux leather jacket and loooove it. So versatile.

Em eeeee they look so cute with just their two bottom teeth!
